Rapper Tekashi 69 is renowned for displaying his expensive jewelry and car collection. Now he is facing financial difficulties.
Last month, “TenThousand Projects” cut ties with the Brooklyn rapper, and no new music came out since his arrest at his home in 2020. Tekashi 69 remains under a publishing agreement. However, his royalty account remains non-recouped due to the significant advances he accepted. As a result, he is no longer benefiting from the arrangement.
“Right now, I am struggling to make ends meet. I do not know if I will ever command the kind of advances I was paid before my arrest, and my career stalled,” Tekashi 69 revealed.
Career Impact of Tekashi 69
The COVID-19 pandemic adversely affected his lucrative touring career, contributing substantially to the rapper’s income. In addition, Tekashi 69 stated that he does not have any concerts scheduled for 2022. As per 69, his income enables him to support himself, his two infant children, their mother, and 6ix9ine’s family members.
Mistaken Identity Leads To Robbery
In a sworn statement to Judge John P. Cronan, the rapper made the shocking disclosure. Following the robbery of two individuals on April 3, 2018, Cronan attempts to determine 69’s liability for damages.
During a mistaken identity robbery involving the “Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods” members, Seketha Wonzer and Kevin Dozier claim that Tekashi 69 traumatized them and destroyed their lives. As a passenger in an SUV containing Nine Trey members Kifano “Shotti” Jordan and Denard “Drama” Butler, the rapper confronted people he believed connected with J Prince’s Rap-a-Lot Records.
While in midtown Manhattan, Tekashi 69 remained behind and filmed the armed robbery in broad daylight. He uploaded the video to his Instagram account, which instantly became viral. Tekashi 69, Shotti, and Drama are currently guilty of the robbery and other charges regarding the “Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.” Shotti was sentenced to 15 years in prison, whereas Drama received a five-year sentence.
Tekashi 69 Has Been Facing Some Issues As A Result of This Robbery
In exchange for cooperating with the government, Tekashi 69 received a 2-year sentence. Since he has asthma, his release was early due to the unavoidable health risks associated with the Coronavirus. This robbery could cost the rapper millions of dollars.
Both Wonzer and Dozier claim that the incident has cost them their careers. They claim they have suffered severe psychological consequences due to their interaction with Tekashi 69 and the “Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.”
The Rapper is Concerned About His Safety
The rapper indicated to the judge that he shares their worries. However, Wonzer and Dozier also live in fear of 69 and his former gang. Tekashi 69 fears facing retaliation from the scorned “Nine Trey Gangsta Blood” members every day. According to Tekashi 69, an adverse decision could result in him going to the poor house.
“It will surely bankrupt me in a way from which I will never recover to the permanent detriment and hardship of the family members who rely upon me, Tekashi 69 said.
