Tremaine Emory had some choice words for Kanye West after the rapper referenced the late Virgil Abloh in an Instagram post. On Tuesday, Emory shared a screenshot of Ye’s post in which he suggested discussing “more important things like how late the show was or how Bernard Arnault killed my best friend.” Arnault is the CEO of luxury conglomerate LVMH.

In the caption, Tremaine Emory urged Kanye to not use Abloh’s name as part of his “victim campaign.” He also alleged that West “rode on [Abloh] in group chats”.

“Ye tell the ppl why you didn’t get invited to Virgil’s actual funeral, the one before the public one at the museum,” Emory said. “You knew Virgil had cancer and you rode on him in group chats, at Yeezy, interviews… YOU ARE SO BROKEN. KEEP VIRGIL NAME OUT YOUR MOUTH.”

Emory also said he’s “got all the receipts” and called Kanye “an insecure narcissist.” Among those who commented on Emory’s post was Kanye’s ex Julia Fox, who left multiple emojis of applause.

Gigi Hadid added her voice to the criticism against Ye, slamming him as “a bully and a joke.”

After hearing of Emory’s comments, Kanye reposted the warning to his Instagram account. “In war they will send your own people at you,” the DONDA artist wrote in the caption. He also made reference to Bernard Arnault, pointing out LVMH’s ownership of Supreme. Emory is Supreme’s creative director.

The source of the Kanye West/Tremaine Emory feud

The controversy around Kanye and Tremaine Emory stems from the YZY SZN 9 presentation in Paris on Monday. The rapper-turned-mogul drew criticism for featuring a “White Lives Matter” t-shirt design. The design drew much criticism from the fashion world on social media, including Jaden Smith. Early on Tuesday, West made the post that attracted the attention of Tremaine Emory.

Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, a contributing editor at Vogue magazine, earned Ye’s ire for her own criticism of YZY SZN 9. Since then, there has been both an outpouring of support and further criticism of Kanye’s choice to feature the controversial slogan.
