Raqhid Jevon Render, aka Lil Keed, passed away on May 13 from organ failure. He was 24 years old and endured stomach pains before going to the hospital. Ultimately, he passed away from the complications. The funeral for Lil Keed was held on yesterday in Atlanta, GA, surrounded by friends and family. Lil Keed was carried in a golden casket down a red carpet. The pallbearers were in all white while carrying the YSL rapper. This marks another problem in the world of YSL for the month of May. Young Thug and Gunna along with others were indicted on RICO charges a few weeks ago. They remain behind bars today.
No Vigil in Forest Park
On Tuesday, May 24th there was supposed to be a vigil for Lil Keed is his hometown of Forest Park, but it never happened. The vigil was planned to be held at Starr Park, but the city denied the permit. Reasons for denying the permit include the ongoing primary election as well as safety issues. Since Lil Keed’s murder, the Forest Park Police Department have vowed to ensure public safety. They plan to guard streets around all city parks and public areas.
“Although this may be a difficult time for a great number individuals, the city is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and businesses.” said the Forest Park City Police Department in a statement regarding Lil Keed’s death.
Lil Keed’s Career
Lil Keed signed to Young Thug’s record label YSL Records. He is most known for song “Nameless,” as it reached number 42 on Billboard Hip Hop and R&B charts. He was born in Atlanta, but grew up in Forest Park, 20 minutes outside Atlanta. Keed started rapping in 2016 and instantly was compared to Young Thug. Ironically, they both grew up on Cleveland Avenue in Atlanta, so Thug just had to sign him. Keed not only credits Young Thug as an influence, but he also claims Chingy and Peewee Longway has an impact on the way he raps.
Rest in peace Lil Keed. Our condolences to his family, friends, and YSL Records.
