The results are in: 7220 is a hit. Lil Durk is getting real cocky and absolutely has the numbers to back it up.
Durk does it again
7220 dropped on all streaming services on March 11th and was met with great reception. Durk’s seventh studio album comes at a peak time of his career. The Chicago rapper is gaining accolades and accomplishments by the second, and 7220 is just another mark on the list.
While 2021’s The Voice Of The Heroes is technically Durk’s first No. 1 album, 7220 is his first solo effort to claim the title. Blogger DJ Akademiks shared last week (Mar. 19) that 7220 had sold a stunning 120k units in its first week.
A No. 1 solo album is a highly sought-after accomplishment for any artist, and it’s well deserved for the Englewood emcee. Durk’s presence in the rap game has been truly growing since the success of his 2019 album Love Songs 4 the Streets 2. His signature mix of singing and rapping easily set him apart from his contemporaries and obviously continues to now. With co-signs from big names in hip hop discourse, especially Kanye and Drake, Lil Durk is on the track to stardom.
Upon learning of these stats Durkio hopped on Twitter to flex his muscles. He likened himself to Steph Curry who’s particularly known for his amazing shooting record. With his recent run, we can’t say he’s wrong for the comparison.
“ I can’t miss I’m like steph fr,” he typed.
What’s your favorite track from 7220? You can stream the album on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, and YouTube now.
If you thought Durk was done, he just released a new track; “Computer Murders.” This track is presumably a response to opps and slick dissing.
