Doja Cat Will Host A Living Room Concert

On Oct. 26, fifteen lucky fans will get a chance to experience Doja Cat’s Los Angeles living room concert. The artist has partnered with Airbnb, which will provide a space in the city to host the event.

Not only will the listeners visit Doja Cat’s unplugged show, but the space where it takes place will also offer an immersive museum-like experience. The artist decorated the place with her grandmother’s hand-painted art. In the meantime, Doja and the other hosts will also provide event-appropriate food (including caviar) and a tone-setting playlist before the show starts. There will also be a mirror with questions everyone has to answer in their own way.

The living room kind of concert is also a new experience for Doja Cat. “I’ve spent the last year performing on the world’s biggest stages, and now I’m ready to share my art with fans in a more intimate setting,” the artist said. “This will be a first for both me and my fans, and I’m excited to share this moment with them.”

If you want to get tickets for the event, do so quickly using the link below. The pre-order stops on Oct. 11 at 11:59 p.m. PST. After this, Doja and her team are going to pick 15 people who will get a chance to visit the mysterious event.

Doja & Brisk

Besides trying new types of shows, Doja also tries herself in commercials. A recent ad from Brisk Iced Tea shows the artist in animated settings and surrounded by animals. Doja also appears to have some superpowers, which help the animated artist save her friend in the ad.

“This is our biggest launch in over a decade,” explained Julie Raheja-Perera, the general manager and vice president of the company making Brisk Iced Tea. We wanted to partner with someone as bold as we are and drive claymation forward in a fresh new way for a whole new generation.”

With so many collaborations and partnerships taking place in Doja Cat’s life, she’s steady on her course of success. Hopefully, things will remain this way, and there will also be enough time for Doja to make new music.

Ready, Aim, Fire: Doja Cat’s Defiant Stand

A recent clapback from Doja Cat at her bullies demonstrates that people have no qualms about expressing themselves. And Doja is not having it.

Doja Cat has recently received a lot of criticism, with the majority of the focus being on her hairstyle. However, the artist did not hesitate to respond.

According to reports, the performer has some trolls who are fixated on her hairstyle. More than a few respondents compared the performer’s hair to “pubes.” While some things are easy to brush off, this was not one of them for Doja. So, she called out the hecklers for their immaturity.

From Lizzo to Doja: Navigating the Perils of Celebrity

As seen play out time and time again, the world isn’t short of busybodies who make other’s business theirs. In fact, a daunted Lizzo announced her resignation a few days ago due to constant ridicule. So it appears that others are now directing jibes at Doja.

Doja, like Lizzo, is used to being harangued. In the past, the singer has announced her resignation from social media after heavy criticism. At the time, the artist wrote on Instagram, “Hey, I am going to deactivate because I am not feeling this anymore.”

However, things change over time, and Doja continues to use social media.

Confronting And Challenging Stereotypes

This time, Doja didn’t go to socials to announce her goodbyes. She rather expressed her exasperation with those who kept her name in their mouths.

This time Doja went to social media, stating she had observed the constant inquisitions about her hair. Understanding the infantile nature of the comparisons respondents attempted to make, she had a point to get across.

Doja Cat’s Empowering Acceptance

It’s no secret that deeply textured hair has not always been looked at favorably. As a result, there is an ongoing movement to encourage those born with deeply coily, textured hair, known as 4C, to accept the crown that they were born with. It hasn’t been an easy progression for those who have attempted to take the journey to acceptance. They continue to be subjected to harsh criticism and jokes, even from those within their same racial demographic.

Some things are not important in the grand scheme of things. So, the “Say So” performer spoke her mind.

“We gotta move forward. Let’s stop… I need you guys to get on that. Not comparing 4C hair textures to pubes.”

That’s a solid point, but will they listen?

Facing The Reality: Cyberbullying In The Age Of Social Media

Bullying is an epidemic that is likely not to dissipate soon. In fact, many people think that social media and the internet’s anonymity make it simpler for people to interact with others in a less polite way than they would otherwise. Celebrities are walking targets because of their status.

So, unfortunately, thicker skin is not a choice in this industry; it’s a must. In such cases, there are only two options for resolution: either the bully drops their verbal swords, or the recipient armors themselves to deflect the venomous darts.

Facing The Fire

It’s good that Doja Cat was able to make a stand against her bullies this time. Will she win the war and find peace even though her detractors keep piling on the pressure? It is hard to say.

In her past address to the cyberbullies, Doja stated, “The way I’m spoken to here and treated makes me have f***** up thoughts. Please watch how you talk to and about people on the internet.”

Thus, it is with great hope that she maintains her strength and keeps the course. Few people achieve such a platform as she has, and it would be a travesty to waste it because of the perspectives of those she has never met and is unlikely to meet.

Immersive Harmony:  Watch The Full Trailer of Doja Cat’s VR Scarlet Tour

The virtual reality (VR) space is becoming a popular platform for immersive musical experiences. Recently, the announcement of Doja Cat’s Scarlett Tour in VR has generated excitement. Wonderfully, the full trailer is now available.

Doja’s Artistic Journey

Doja Cat, also known as Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, has carved a notable niche for herself in the music industry. Her artistic roots can be traced back to her parents. Her mother was a painter and her father an actor, composer, and film producer. But despite being the offspring of artists, Doja Cat’s journey to fame was not a direct path.

According to Hip-hop Scriptures, she independently learned to sing, rap, and use GarageBand while unemployed, consistently creating and uploading music to SoundCloud. It’s no secret that hard work pays off. By creating opportunities for herself she found success. The turning point came in 2012. Her talent began to attract attention, leading to her eventual signing with Kemosabe Records in 2014. In 2018 the virality of her son “Mooo” elevated the artist. This marked the beginning of her career in earnest.

A Star Ascends

In 2019, Doja Cat achieved her first solo entry on the Billboard charts, and by 2020, she earned recognition as a top new artist. As Hip-hop Scripture notes, “Rolling Stone ranked her at number one on their list of the ten biggest breakthrough artists of 2020. Cosmopolitan declared Doja Cat hip-hop’s most fierce upcoming rapper. To add to her acclaim, Forbes named Doja one of the top breakout stars of 2020.” However, this was just the beginning. Doja Cat had much more to accomplish. In fact, according to Beck Media,  “Her GRAMMY award-winning track “Kiss Me More” featuring SZA, the lead single from “Planet Her,” currently holds a certification of 5x platinum by the RIAA. Impressively it has claimed the #1 spot on the Top 40 and Rhythm radio charts. Furthermore, it continues to accumulate over 2.2 billion streams worldwide.”

Doja Cat’s Scarlett Tour in VR

It’s 2024 and Doja Cat continues to maintain her momentum. One way she has done so is by touring. Now a new opportunity has arisen for her fans. The Doja Cat Scarlett Tour in VR is set to premiere on January 20, 2024, exclusively in Meta Horizon Worlds. Promoted debut time is 5 pm PT. And according to sources the concert will showcase fan favorites like “Woman,” “Paint the Town Red,” and “Agora Hills.” Ultimately it’s poised to be a delightful experience for fans who were unable to see the star perform in real life (IRL).

Check it Out

If you’re a music enthusiast and a fan of Doja Cat with a Meta Quest VR set, don’t miss the opportunity to check out the full trailer. Should you find the collaboration between Diamond Brothers and Meta intriguing, there’s an ongoing opportunity to RSVP. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by. As most eloquently expressed, not always does one have such experience. Take the opportunity to capture the captivating energy of The Scarlet Tour from the comfort of your home.

Bi+ Visibility Day: 8 Rappers Who Like Multiple Genders

Since 1999, the Bi Day of Visibility has been celebrated annually on Sep 23. Though the hip-hop world may seem at odds with the LGBTQ community, more rappers than ever have been open about their sexuality. Recently, Megan Thee Stallion and Yung Miami discussed their love of women on the web show Caresha Please. The clip went viral, with some fans surprised, given Miami’s previous opinions on gay men.

However, these women weren’t the only rappers to come out in recent years.

Doja Cat

Though the video might just seem like a bad pun, she rested her sexuality in another Instagram live. Doja said, “I like d–ks, and I also like, um, I like people that I can have sex with. You can kind of have sex with anybody, right?”

Cardi B

Cardi clapped back at a Twitter troll attempting to invalidate her sexuality. However, the rapper first came out in 2018 after collaborating with singer Rita Ora and receiving backlash. At the time, she tweeted, “I personally myself had experiences with other woman, shiieeett with a lot of woman!” Rita Ora also explained that the song wasn’t meant to be offensive and that she also dated women.

Lil Wop

Lil Wop. Image source: SayCheese, Twitter.

Earlier this year, Lil Wop came out in a now unavailable Instagram post. For Valentine’s Day, the rapper posted a selfie with pigtails and a rolled-up t-shirt captioned “I’m Bisexual I Like Guys & Girls.” Some thought the rapper was hacked or dared to make the post, but in a follow-up comment, he said, “I’m gay idgaf what anybody think foreal.”

Azealia Banks

Azealia Banks. Image source: “Anna Wintour” music video, YouTube.

One of the most outspoken rappers on the scene, Azealia Banks, has always been open about her sexuality. She initially came out ten years ago in an interview with The New York Times

Unfortunately, another incident would force Azealia to again acknowledge that she’s her bi. In 2015, the rapper caught hell after using the f-slur against gay men. She defended herself, saying, “for f–k’s sake, just give the Azealia banks is a homophobe thing a rest because I’m not.” She continued, “I have a transgender sibling. My whole life is gay. All of my friends are gay, I am bisexual.” While people say this doesn’t absolve her, the rapper still has a strong cult following.

Yung Baby Tate

Yung Baby Tate has discussed her sexuality before. “I identify as a bisexual black woman,” she said in an interview with TheGumbo.net. “It’s important for me as a black girl to show young black girls they can be successful by just being themselves – every part of themselves.”

Lil Peep

The late rapper confirmed his sexuality via Twitter just a few months before his untimely death. The rapper overdosed on fentanyl in November 2017 at age 21 and is widely remembered as an emo rap icon.

BbyMutha

https://twitter.com/bbymutha/status/960600756960231425

In an interview with Metal Magazine, BbyMutha spoke on the difficulties of figuring out her identity and how it pertains to art. She said she called herself bi because that’s the label people put on you when you like men and women. But she clarified, saying, “I just stopped calling myself anything. I’m not a girl, I’m not a boy; I’m not gay, I’m not straight. I’m just a person.”

Taylor Bennett

His brother Chance, The Rapper, seemed supportive, wishing him a happy birthday the day after his announcement. These tweets came right before the rapper released his 2017 mixtape, Restoration Of An American Idol.

Bisexuality itself is a spectrum. Some people identify as queer, some as pansexual, and others don’t label themselves. However, bisexuality isn’t just about men and women; it includes transgender and non-binary people as well. These rappers are setting the pace for diversity and bi visibility in hip-hop and opening the doors for more artists to be out and proud.

The 2022 MTV VMAs: Who Won Video Of The Year And Why?

MTV’s Video Music Awards aired Sunday, and audiences are buzzing about the night’s highlights. Some of the hottest moments include Bad Bunny kissing his backup dancer and Nicki Minaj receiving the Video Vanguard Award. And of course, you can’t forget the outfits, which range from chic to visually startling. One of the biggest awards of the night—Video of the Year—had quite a few strong contenders, however.

Way 2 Sexy — Drake ft. Future, Young Thug

This is another video showing everyone why Drizzy is the hip-hop King of the Memes. “Way 2 Sexy” shows Drake strutting around in a variety of costumes. Future and Young Thugs are also in the video, showing off their “funny” side, though they both look somewhat uncomfortable. Every other scene contains a pop culture reference. Drizzy, however, isn’t the first artist to cram a bunch of references into a music video. While the video is funny, it lacks originality, which could explain why it didn’t win in this category.

brutal – Olivia Rodrigo

There comes a time in every young pop star’s life when they become aware of the constant exploitation in the music industry. For N’Sync, it was “Bye Bye Bye.” For Pink, it was “Don’t Let Me Get Me.” Stepping out of the shadow of Disney Channel, this is Olivia Rodrigo’s take on that time-honored tradition. The 19-year-old wants the world to know that she’s vulnerable and unsure of her place in the world, like most adults. The video features Rodrigo stumbling through various settings as she sings about the woes of being in the public eye. With intentionally low-res edits and shaky camera work, the video conveys Rodrigo’s confusion about adulthood in the limelight. However, this wasn’t enough to secure the win. Damn, I guess it really is brutal out here.

Shivers — Ed Sheeran

The best way to describe the video for this song, is cute, quirky, and aesthetically overwhelming. The video, starring Ed and actress Anna Sophia Robb, starts off normally enough with a meet cute in a diner. Things quickly go off the rails, as Ed Sheeran is immediately hit by a train—a metaphor for what it feels like to fall in love. The pair prance about dressed in Elton John-inspired garb in a variety of psychedelic settings. Though the song is a sweet dedication to his wife, the story isn’t as cohesive as some other entries.

As It Was — Harry Styles

This video, directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Tanu Muino, shows Harry Styles dancing in a sparkling red jumpsuit with model Mathilde Lin. Though the video is simple, it perfectly complements the song’s theme of isolation and change. However, it’s not visually stimulating enough to beat out the other nominees.

Woman – Doja Cat

Doja Cat’s “Planet Her” is the rapper’s visual magnum opus at this point in her career. Any video from her album could have been nominated in this category, and no one would think twice about it. In this particular video, Doja is a seductress called upon by Queen Teyona Taylor to seduce men trying to dethrone her. Everything about the video, from the costumes to the choreography and cinematography, is on point. The concept is thematically relevant, as the song is meant to be an anthem for strong women everywhere. The only thing that stopped Doja from snagging this award is that, while the video is stunning and uplifting, it doesn’t give you much to think about.

INDUSTRY BABY – Lil Nas X ft. Jack Harlow

What do you get when you cross Lil Nas X with legendary choreographer Sean Bankhead? You get Nas and Jack Harlow’s viral music video for “INDUSTRY BABY.” In the video, the imprisoned rappers are accompanied by other inmates dressed in pink jumpsuits. At one point, Lil Nas X and the other inmates dance naked in the shower—a scene that either offends or intrigues viewers. This video is a provocative look at the intersection of prison culture and sexuality. Lil Nas X revels in being a provocateur, and this is a prime example of that spirit. It was the strongest contender for Video of the Year, but it didn’t make the cut.

Winner: All Too Well (Taylor’s Version) — Taylor Swift

While Taylor Swift is no stranger to the director’s chair, this is the first time she directed a short film. And according to her fans and MTV, she knocked it out of the park. “All Too Well” tells the story of a 19-year-old, played by “Stranger Things” actress Sadie Sink, who falls in love with an older man, played by “Teen Wolf” star Dylan O’Brien. The story allegedly reflects Swift’s own dating experience, as when she was 19, she briefly dated actor Jake Gyllenhaal. This context might explain why the video stands out among the rest. In recent years, there’s been talk about toxicity in some relationships with wide age gaps. The video shows the main character’s ups and down as Sink’s character struggles with an increasing feeling of alienation. When she’s around his friends, she can’t relate because she’s so young.  There is also an argument mid-video that confronts the issue of the older man’s behavior when he’s around his friends. He smooths things over again and again, but it never solves the root of the problem—the age gap itself. The video has a bittersweet ending. It ends with Taylor as an older version of Sadie Sink’s character, reflecting on her experiences to a crowd of young women.

This marks Swift’s 14th MTV VMA win. Though she beat out every other video nominated, it doesn’t take away from the artistic efforts of the musicians or the cast and crew who contributed.

Doja Cat Claps Back at Critics Who Have a Problem With Her Shaved Head

The famous pop singer Doja Cat, grabbed her fans attention recently with a new fierce look. Long story short, the 26-year-old rapper made a live video on Instagram Thursday night, when she ended up shaving her eyebrows right after shaving her head. Fans began to worry whether the star might be suffering from any mental illness. The latter had her reasons and went on to say:

“I just do not like to have hair,”
Cat expressed the burden of having to wear wigs constantly, mostly irritating during her workouts. It’s indeed a crunch time for her. She also added :
“I’d be working out, but I couldn’t focus because I was more concerned with how I looked and how my hair was doing,”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K11oTOwMVCw

However, the “Streets” rapper also spoke about the fact that although her head is shaven, that doesn’t mean she loves herself less now. She mentioned that this act of shaving her head made her appear sexy and she’s not the only pop star to feel this way. Doja made it clear that she was not seeking help or attention as fans speculated about.

Doja Cat Shut Down Haters

Furthermore, the next day, the songstress posted pictures of her latest looks on Instagram with a design on her eyebrows. The image went viral and gained over 3 million likes. Nevertheless, despite the number of fans supporting her, there will always be a bunch of unwelcomed critics.

Doja took the matter and turned it in her favor, reminding her haters that nothing can hurt her. She later tweeted that she wanted to look “fuckable” to “people who live in their mother’s basement”. She mentioned that to all those calling her ugly before she said “Go f–k yourselves.”
A fan said she’s “ungrateful” and should rather “leave social media n go focus on music,” Doja replied :

“You’re so miserable that you have to label yourself as a ‘we,’” she replied. “You aren’t part of any collective. You’re just another asshole that doesn’t know how to read a room.”

The rapper has such a good defense mechanism and is fierceness no matter what.

Doja Cat’s New Hairless Look Raises Questions From Fans

Doja Cat has continued to receive questions concerning her newly shaved hair and eyebrows. The “Streets” singer had on August 5 posted a picture of her new look with love designs drawn on her brows.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Doja Cat (@dojacat)

Among the questions coming from her followers on Instagram – “Why?”, “Why not?” and “perhaps it’s her choice?

And another one is seeking more clarification – “U look.. Different Eleven?” Other fans are, however, answering the questions on behalf of the rapper. “Cus she can,” “Cause it looks good,” “Wait bc the designs are actually really cool.”

Meanwhile, many more Doja Cat’s fans are commending the singer’s new look. “It looks good Doja,” “hush she look great. I like it she is very daring”, someone posted.

Starting Point of the Doja Cat’s Hairless Look

Among the earliest public information about Doja Cat’s shaved look was a tweet: “im going to shave my head and gain a ton of muscle but as a joke.”

Less than a week after, Doja completely matched words with actions.

The 26-year-old record producer has her reasons.

“I cannot tell you one time since the beginning of my life that I’ve ever been like, ‘This is cool.’ I just do not like to have hair.”

It’s not just that

“I’d be working out but I couldn’t focus because I was more concerned with how I looked and how my hair was doing and how to keep it adhered to my scalp and then it would slide off and then I’d put on a beanie. There were times I put on a beanie on top of my wig, that’s on top of a wig cap, that’s on top of braids,” Doja added

Doja even wonders why she hadn’t taken the decision to shave earlier. “I just can’t believe it took me this long,” she said.

“I had a trainer at one point, and I’d be wearing wigs and they would be getting tacky, they’d like retack because of the moisture, and then they’d start sliding and peeling off of my head while I’m doing this incredibly strenuous thing.” So, the shaving of her hair turns out to be an end to the “nightmare”. “I’m over it. I’m really liking this,” Doja Cat said.

Then comes the shaving of the eyebrows. Appearing on with the newly shaved hair, Doja unveiled her new look. “My makeup artist just texted me, ‘Are you shaving your brows off? “I’m gonna do it,” the singer announced.

And so, Doja also shaved her eyebrows. “I’m just fine. I’m doing dandy,” Doja Cat answers people showing concerns.

The festival is being hosted by Bebe Rexha. It is billing itself as an intersection of music, sports, and gaming. However, it appears that only the first night, which is invite-only, will be doing any intersecting. Doja Cat will be headlining the event, with The Kid Laroi, Martin Garrix, and Tigerlily all making appearances. They are all hyped for the festival.

Singer Shonka Dukureh, Who Played Big Mama Thornton In The Movie ‘Elvis’ Dead At 44

Every person on this planet is expected to leave this earth at some point in their lives. Nevertheless, dying prematurely is a result that is unfair to both the individual and society. Sadly, 44-year-old gospel singer and actor Shonka Dukureh, who played Big Mama Thornton in Baz Luhrmann’s critically acclaimed Elvis biopic, died on Thursday, July 21, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Likely, violent behavior was not present despite police claims to the contrary. However, an autopsy will be performed to pinpoint the cause of death.

Found by One of Her Children

A police news release stated that Dukureh was found dead in the bedroom of her Kothe Way apartment by one of her children. She shared this apartment with her two young children. When a family member, especially a child, finds the mother unconscious, it can be traumatizing for that particular family member. Such thoughts do not disappear overnight. In some cases, some people cannot move on with their lives.

After finding her, her child fled to a neighbor’s apartment, who called 911 for assistance.

The details concerning her children are scarce, but it is known that she has two children, a young girl, and her eldest son. Below is a clip from Shonka’s Instagram page, which shows her and her daughter discussing the Elvis movie and singing together.

The Singing Career of Shonka Dukureh was on the Rise

The multitalented woman was preparing for a big future. Aside from appearing in the Baz Luhrmann-directed film, she also collaborated with the rapper Doja Cat on the Elvis soundtrack track “Vegas.” Moreover, her website indicates that she was preparing an album entitled The Lady Sings the Blues, which was scheduled to be released in June 2022. Nevertheless, she has a collaborative album with Christopher Roberts entitled The Choir Project, which was released in 2020.

In an interview with ABC24 Memphis, Shonka discusses the origins of her singing career.

“My mother said I could sing before I could talk,” Dukureh said. “She said that I was humming music before I was uttering words.”

Her mother played a song while she and her friends sat around the tape deck. In response to the song’s popularity, Shonka’s mother continued to play it repeatedly. She eventually approached the radio and began to sing and hum along with the music. After hearing Shonka’s voice, her mother, along with her mother’s friends, decided to record her.

The gospel singer also participated in a choir as a high school student. Her chorus teacher believed her voice was outstanding and gave her voice lessons.
