Detroit is poised to reclaim its legacy in women’s professional basketball, and the movement to bring a WNBA expansion team to the Motor City is gaining momentum, fueled by a powerful coalition of stars and influential figures. Eminem, one of Detroit’s most famous sons, has joined a high-profile group led by Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores in an exciting effort to reintroduce a WNBA franchise to Michigan’s largest city. The backing of Detroit’s top sports figures—ranging from the owners of the Red Wings, Tigers, and Lions—speaks volumes about the city’s dedication to not only reviving but enhancing women’s basketball at the professional level.
Detroit’s Unified Push for a WNBA Franchise As reported by Sportico on March 12, the WNBA’s expansion plans, initially set to add just one new team, have now expanded to include up to three new franchises. This exciting shift follows the league’s recent growth, with new teams established in cities like San Francisco, Toronto, and Portland. These expansions mark a thrilling chapter for the WNBA, providing a clear signal of the league’s rapid development and bright future.
Detroit’s pursuit of a WNBA team is not just about adding a new franchise—it’s about reviving a proud basketball tradition. The city was once home to the Detroit Shock, a team that achieved remarkable success before relocating to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and eventually to Dallas, where it became the Wings. According to NBA commissioner Adam Silver, the return of the Shock to Detroit is merely a matter of time. “I actually think it’s really just a question of when the Shock comes back,” said Silver. “Over time, there’s going to be a lot of expansion in the WNBA. That’s a first-class group led by [Gores].”
Should the proposal be approved, the team will play at the Little Caesars Arena, a state-of-the-art facility already home to the Detroit Pistons and Red Wings. The proposed ownership group includes a slew of prominent Detroit figures, such as NBA legends Grant Hill and Chris Webber, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff, General Motors CEO Mary Barra, and sports investor Roger Ehrenberg, further enhancing the project’s credibility and potential.
Eminem’s Cultural Impact on the WNBA Push Eminem’s involvement in the WNBA expansion effort is a powerful statement about Detroit’s commitment to its sports teams and its cultural influence. The rapper, who has been a vocal supporter of the city’s athletic programs, frequently appears at Detroit Lions games, demonstrating his pride in his hometown. In 2024, during the Lions’ playoff run, Eminem took to social media to express his unwavering support for the team. His support for the WNBA team adds a new layer of significance, tying together Detroit’s rich cultural and sports legacies and cementing his role as an advocate for the city’s continued rise in professional sports.
Detroit’s Readiness for the WNBA’s Return The WNBA’s financial landscape is in the healthiest position it has ever been, with franchise valuations climbing steadily. The average WNBA team is now valued at around $96 million, with the Las Vegas Aces leading the pack at a valuation of $140 million. Over 10 cities have expressed interest in joining the league during this expansion cycle, including Austin, Charlotte, Cleveland, and Philadelphia. Despite the competition, Detroit’s deep basketball heritage, strong ownership backing, and a dedicated fan base make it one of the most promising candidates for the league’s next phase of growth.
This expansion is more than just a business venture; it’s about Detroit’s reassertion as a central hub of basketball excellence. The city has long been recognized for its passion and support of the sport, and bringing a WNBA team back to Detroit would not only revive a storied legacy but also create an entirely new chapter in the history of women’s professional sports. With Eminem’s involvement, along with a powerhouse of influential backers, the return of the WNBA to Detroit is not just a dream—it’s a movement, one that’s rapidly gaining steam and ready to launch the city into a new era of sports and community pride.

4. “Lose Yourself” Keeps Winning: Eminem’s 2002 Hit Still Strikes Gold

Before we move on to the next artist, would you like to know the amount of cheddar that equals? $724,233! Queen’s music has received over 10 billion Spotify streams to date. It’s raking in $4.1 million (that’s a lot of zeros, and we’re not just talking about the stream count!). However, the ultimate jam that’s driving the Spotify frenzy is “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Nonetheless, this album’s not just a treat for the ears; it’s also making a serious dent in the wallet department. There’s nearly $4 million($3,954,628 potentially) hoofing its way into Rodrigo’s bank account. As we speak, those Spotify streams are having a field day, and this album’s money-making journey is far from done. Because our girl Rodrigo is dropping hints about a sophomore album!

But, here’s the real question that’s tickling our musical curiosity: Have you rocked out to “Diamonds” on repeat? And who wouldn’t want to earn the title of “Official Elton John’s Diamonds Dance Champion” by shaking a leg or two?
As we journey through this musical galaxy, who else is pumped to discover what gems await in the top spots? I know I am!
In a smashing eighth place, we’ve got the 2013 album release, “AM” by the Arctic Monkeys. This brilliant piece has Spotify streams pouring in, perhaps making $2,816,270.
In 2013, the Arctic Monkeys dropped “AM,” and suddenly, the music universe was in for a treat. Fast forward to today, and those Spotify streams are like a digital cash register, cha-chinging to a possible fortune. Isn’t that the kind of jackpot every band dreams of hitting?

And not a couple of pennies here and there. No, siree! I’m talking serious dough, the kind that could make even a pirate blush with envy. So, who’s streaming “AM” on repeat? Is your playlist filled with those Arctic Monkeys’ beats? And most importantly, have you contributed to that potential $2,816,270 fortune with your own streaming addiction?
“Harry’s House” Album And Its Continuous Revenue Dance
Harry Styles and his 2022 album, “Harry’s House” is the talk of the town, holding down that ninth place with style and pizzazz. But how much revenue is this musical marvel bringing in from the valley of Spotify?
The music is playing, fans are cheering, and Harry Styles owns the stage on his “Love on Tour.” But that tour ain’t just about music – it’s about bucks raining down too! So, while Harry’s been busy making hearts swoon on tour, his album’s been pulling in those sweet Spotify streams, likely adding up to $2,342,310.

You see, as Harry Styles wraps up his spellbinding tour, his album is still rocking the virtual stage, pulling in those digital dimes with every Spotify play. A musical encore that never ends!
Now, let’s toss in a sprinkle of humor, shall we? What can $2,342,310 could buy? Maybe a yacht made entirely of glitter or a private island shaped like a guitar? But until then, raise a virtual toast to Harry Styles and his chart-topping groove – may the music keep playing and the revenue keeps rolling in!

A painting from The Game's storage. Image source: TMZ.
According to Carol, a whole bunch of The Game’s valuable possessions just went under her ownership for only one thousand dollars. The “West Side Story” artist’s storage unit got auctioned off, together with everything inside it.
Among other things from the storage unit, Carol is now a happy owner of a bunch of The Game’s awards, items of clothing signed by artists and athletes, and multiple paintings. Carol now plans to auction everything off unless the artist wants to repurchase his stuff.
It’s unclear how the situation twisted in a way that The Game now has to buy his own belongings back or if he even wishes to do so. Supposedly, a member of The Game’s team put a bunch of his stuff in storage. Later, the artist’s team member took some things out of the unit and then auctioned it off because he no longer wished to pay the rent.
There could’ve been some arranged agreement between the artist and his team member, but information regarding that still needs to appear.
The Game himself also didn’t yet comment on the matter.
The Game vs Eminem
Back in Aug. 2022, The Game released his “Drillmatic: Heart vs. Mind” album. One of the songs called “The Black Slim Shady” was a diss aimed at Eminem, with lines like “You depressed, you just maskin’ it/You pop an Adderall, a Vicodin, and an Aspirin” or “Dear Slim, [Eminem’s daughter] with me, and she’s unharmed for now/(‘Dad, I’m really scared’).”
In response, The Slim Shady recorded a video for The Game, containing a bunch of advice regarding “Hip-Hop donts’,” second and third-degree burns, and emergency surgeries. See the full version of Eminem’s answer down below.
The Poetry Book Auction
In Mar. 2022, a book of poems, which Tupac Shakur wrote when he was eleven years old, went on auction. Someone purchased the script on Mar. 30 for an estimated three hundred thousand dollars.
Back in 1981, the legendary Hip-Hop artist wrote several copies of his poetry book and sent them to Black Panthers, who were in jail for the alleged robbery of an armored vehicle. The auctioned copy ended up in the hands of Tupac’s godfather, Jamal Joseph.

Dr. Dre recently had an interview with Kevin Hart on the comedian’s show that streams on Peacock. The hitmaker described those who are shining a negative light on hip-hop today sounds like somebody’s grandfather. Dr. Dre went on to emphasize that the genre is always evolving. He stressed that if you don’t like hip-hop now, then don’t listen to it. The iconic producer said he doesn’t like most of the genre’s music out right now, but he isn’t hating on it.
What Is Dr. Dre Listening To Right Now?
The hip-hop icon was asked who in the genre does he listen to, and the question did not catch him off guard. The Compton native said he gets asked that all the time, but he listens to different types of music. Andre Romell Young, also known as Dr. Dre, revealed the genre he listens to stems from 70s soul to The Beatles. Young even shared he might listen to some polka music after his interview with Hart. It would make sense the musical genius has an eclectic ear for any genre of music. Dr. Dre then added he “gets inspiration from all types of genres of music.” He could not give the actor a favorite artist but instead complimented his answer by calling it a “favorite of the week.”
Dr. Dre Talks About A “Forever Artist”
Dre spoke on fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. He made sure it was known that the former president of Death Row Records takes no credit for Lamar’s success. However, Dr. Dre admitted he takes credit for opening the door for him and that’s it. Dre praised the “Humble” rapper calling him a real artist and revealing they have a “fantastic” relationship. Young added the 36-year-old is what people call a “forever artist,” which is someone who can disappear for years and make an enormous comeback. The 58-year-old clarified a “forever artist” is also someone who does not have to drop music all the time to stay relevant. Dr. Dre also considers Snoop Dogg and Eminem “forever artists.”

Eminem, the acclaimed rapper known for his lyrical prowess, has earned widespread recognition as one of the greatest artists ever.
However, it’s not just his musical talent that gets respect. Recently, Tony Yayo, the 45-year-old rapper, shed light on an incident that made him realize Eminem is a “Real One.” During a recent appearance on Drink Champs, Yayo recounted a moment when Eminem fearlessly stood up to the notorious Suge Knight.
What Makes Eminem A Real One?
The story unfolded during the video shoot for 50 Cent’s iconic 2003 hit, “In Da Club.” Yayo describes how Suge Knight, the former CEO of Death Row Records, unexpectedly appeared. With him was a group of Mexican gangsters. Once they arrived, chaos and panic started on set. During the commotion, Eminem remained calm.
“This is why I always respected Eminem, 50, and the people who were with us,” Yayo expressed. Highlighting the rapper’s unwavering demeanor in the face of danger. He went on to describe the intimidating presence of Suge Knight.
Yayo made sure to include some comedy by mentioning the contrast between the New York-based crew and the tattooed former Death Row Records CEO. “Now, we from New York; you ain’t never seen a ni**a with a tattoo on his forehead.” With their backs against the wall, Yayo recalled the sentiment within the group, saying, “Might as well go all out and fight right here!”
Tony Yayo attributed Eminem’s courage to his Detroit roots. Suggesting that his boldness was ingrained in the city’s culture. He recalled another time Proof, a Detroit rapper and close friend of Eminem, fearlessly confronted Suge Knight about his alleged involvement in Tupac’s murder.
Yayo remarked, “Them Detroit ni**as are kinda crazy, bruh! Them 7, 8 Mile ni**as always been crazy.”
This story also goes along with former G-Unit rapper Bang ‘Em Smurf’s account from August 2022. Smurf detailed how Eminem, understanding his significance as a key asset, even wore a bulletproof vest to prepare for the potential brawl.
As Tony Yayo’s story unfolds, it becomes clear that Eminem’s fearlessness extends beyond his music. His unwavering composure in the face of adversity exemplifies his genuine character. It also earns him the respect of those around him. So, while Eminem’s talent and success continue to be celebrated, his unyielding bravery distinguishes him as a true force to be reckoned with, both in the music industry and life itself.
Fat Joe, Papoose, and Eminem. Image Source: HiphopDx/Mike Lavin, Shareif Ziyadat/Getty Images, Theo Wargo/Getty Images.
On Mar 6, two well-respected Hip-hop artists addressed Melle Mel’s comments about Eminem. In the video, both Papoose and Fat Joe clarified that Eminem’s status on the Billboard 50 best rappers list and his respect most certainly comes from his undisputed talent.
The Item Of Dispute
Billboard recently released their rankings of the top 50 greatest rappers. Atop the ranking was Eminem, who took the number five spot, a position that some questioned. Melle Mel was a powerful voice opposing Mathers’s placement at the top. While Melle Mel did not deny Mathers’s talent, he argued that his placement had less to do with it. From his perspective, his standing had more to do with the phenomenon that Eminem was White and demonstrated such talent. In Mel’s words,
“If Eminem was just another n**** like all the rest of us, would he be top five on the list? When a n**** that can rhyme as good as him is [number] 35.”
Does Melle Mel’s Argument Have Validity
Mel’s argument specifically claims Eminem’s success is not because of his talent but of who he is. This argument is full of conjecture. His argument indicates; Marshall Mather’s ranked highly by default due to his phenotypical divergence. In other words, he is fly because he is a “White guy.” This is further supported by Mel’s statement,
“Eminem gets a top spot because he’s white.”
Since this is reality and we don’t live in Hypotheticals, that can’t be proven.
Divided Opinions On Melle Mel’s Perspective
Not everyone shares Mel’s sentiments. In fact, Fat Joe and Papoose let it be known that they don’t feel the same. According to Papoose,
“Even though Eminem is Caucasian, you cannot front on his skill set. You cannot deny that skill set!”
And Joe echoed Papoose’s sentiment. Of course, these aren’t the only artists who have said their pieces. More than a few have weighed in; it is a perspective on which many are divided. However, one thing both Papoose and Joe made clear was their admiration of Melle Mel and his incredible contribution to the industry. Thus making it knowns that their perspectives weren’t a dismissal of Mel’s perspective but a difference of opinion.
Eminem
Eminem dons the title “rap god,” but not for nothing.
Above all, Eminem is an incomparable lyricist. This is a fact that research has supported. According to Hip hop 24/7, when it comes to developing unique lyrics, here’s the breakdown,
“With 8,818 unique words used, Eminem led the list, followed by Jay Z with 6,899, the late Tupac Shakur with 6,569, and West with 5,069.”
This was a record for which Eminem was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2015. When it comes to delivery, Mathers stands in a class of his own. Besides, this is not the first time he’s made it in the list of best rappers. A Jan 2023 article in Complex printed a list of best rappers for every year. Eminem’s name was listed for 2000 and 2002.
Without a doubt, Eminem’s talent speaks for itself and is undoubtedly more significant than any external factors present. Looking beyond his personal perspective, it is evident that even the world acknowledges Eminem’s artistry. According to another article in Complex,
“Eminem’s been nominated 505 times for various awards, winning 340 times, including 13 Grammy’s and an Academy Award. He has sold over 42 million tracks and 49.1 million albums in the United States, and 100s of millions of albums worldwide.”
That is impressive and yet only a small component of Eminem’s achievements.
Conclusion
Everyone has a perspective. In the grand scheme of things, a hypothesis is a personal ideology. A theory cannot be argued because every hypothesis has a countermand. So, in this case, all one can go on is the facts. And the evidence is in.
It is only the beginning of the newyear, yet we are already finding out which tunes are best to listen to in the gym. Spotify’s Top 3 Workout Songs For January
“Do It To It” by Cherish, the R&B girl group, was a major hit in 2006.
However, DJ ACRAZE also added his own spin by sampling the original song for a popular song called “Do It To It,” which he released in 2021. The song is number one in January’s category of best workout songs. In addition, seven playlists contain this record, making it the best-suited track. Due to its 125 BPM tempo, the song is an excellent choice for cardio exercises.
The next track on the playlist is Eminem’s “Till I Collapse,” which also appeared on seven playlists and is suitable for a strenuous workout due to its high BPM of 171.
“Closer” by The Chainsmokers, which appeared on six workout playlists, was the third most famous track on Spotify’s Top 20.
Families spend quality time together during the holiday season and indulge in various delicious foods, which can cause one to gain a few pounds. New Year, More Gym Attendees
Furthermore, the gym will be flooded with new gym-goers who have resolved to exercise as part of their New Year’s resolution and will listen to more motivating music to stay in shape. According to Google Trends, searches for ‘gym memberships’ have increased 71% since December, suggesting Americans are anxious to resume physical activity.
A spokesperson at Fitness Volt then commented on the findings, saying: “Many gym-goers will find it hard to motivate themselves to get back to working out after some time away from the gym.”
Exercise Tips For Getting The Most Out Of Your Workout
The spokesperson also claims that listening to high-tempo music is one of the most effective ways of amplifying our performance. It stimulates the body’s adrenal glands, increasing motivation.
In preparation for your workout, it is recommended that you create a playlist of slower tracks that will help warm you up and cool you down afterward. Ensure you stretch before starting a workout, as it may cause you to pull a muscle. Also, consider wearing noise-canceling headphones to make the experience more enjoyable.

CenttCen5050 Cent has reached another milestone. His infamous hit song, “In Da Club” has hit 1 billion streams! A big round of applause for the Southside Jamaica Queens rapper turned business tycoon. “In Da Club” came out in 2001 and can still be heard to this very day. The “Candy Shop” rapper made a timeless record. One place you can always enjoy this song, is of course, in the club!
One Billion Streams
“In Da Club” can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Children will hear the song and instantly know the lyrics while senior citizens can still get their groove on. This is the first song of 50 Cent’s long discography to reach 1 billion streams and I’m sure it won’t be the last. His songs “Candy Shop”, “Just A Lil Bit”, “P.I.M.P.”, and “Many Men” all have the potential to reach 1 billion streams as well. During the halftime show of Super Bowl LVI, out of all his songs, the New York rapper chose to perform “In Da Club”. And of course, So-Fi stadium erupted in cheers. Just so happens, this performance landed him an Emmy Award.
50 Cent said take your time and make it a classic as his song “In Da Club” has hit a Billion streams! 💿🔥💯 Thoughts 👇🏽 pic.twitter.com/Vz7gSAlCie
Along with Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, and Eminem, 50 was awarded the Creative Arts Emmy Award. The Emmys awarded the halftime performance for Outstanding Variety Special. This makes him one more step closer to claiming an “EGOT”. “EGOT” stands for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, & Tony. Only a few people have won all four awards, making it a rare feat. 50 Cent won a Grammy in 2010 for best rap performance by a duo or group with “Crack A Bottle” featuring Eminem and Dr.Dre.
Now, that 50 Cent has an Emmy, he can work on the Oscar & Tony. Maybe, he can win an Oscar like his buddy Eminem did. He secured his Oscar in 2003 for Best Original Song with “Lose Yourself” for the 8 Mile movie. But, 50 could probably win an actor through acting as he is no stranger to being in front of the camera. Now, for a Tony award, 50 might have to hit the Broadway stage. I don’t doubt that he would be a natural at it.
Eminem is bringing his Detroit-based pop-up restaurant concept, Mom’s Spaghetti, to New York. It is part of the 20th-anniversary celebrations of the movie “8 Mile”. In addition to the spaghetti, the pop-up will also feature various merchandise for purchase.
8 Mile
“8 Mile” is a movie from 2002. It is major because it was Eminem’s film debut and was semi-autobiographical. The movie is also the origin of the name chosen for the pop-up restaurant. In the movie Eminem plays a character that lived at home with his mother, and was subject to her cooking. One of Eminem’s most popular singles, “Lose Yourself”, was made for the movie and has the term “mom’s spaghetti” as a slant rhyme to “arms are heavy”. This line acknowledges the youth of the character, who would nervously throw up his moms cooking before performing on stage.
According to Know Your Meme, the lyric became a meme on 4chan in 2012 as a representation of social awkwardness or humiliation by quoting the song and ending it with “Mom’s spaghetti”. The lyric fits because the song is about embarrassment, and the social awkwardness some may feel if they’re put on the spot in public. The meme has since evolved into pocket spaghetti stories, where someone finds themselves finds themselves having to speak in public, and instead repeats Eminem’s lyrics about moms spaghetti, complete with pulling actual spaghetti out of their pocket before fleeing.
From a Lyric to a Business
In 2017, Eminem took the lyric back by turning it into a popup. After that turned successful, he opened a permanent restaurant in Detroit in 2021. He is now expanding this new chain into New York. The restaurant is not the only thing that Eminem is opening in New York, either.
There is also an adjacent upstairs store opening with the restaurant. The store is called “The Trailer” and will be selling merch from Eminem and his new pasta chain.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again just passed Jay-Z on the list of rappers with the most albums that charted on Billboard 200. This makes the young Louisiana rapper 5th on the overall list ahead of Jay Z. To be fair, YoungBoy also has way more projects released so far in his career in comparison to Jay. The fact he’s so young is what makes this news so impressive as well for obvious reasons. While he tends to debate wanting to retire from rap early, it’s clear that he’ll work his way higher on the list in no time.
YoungBoy Never Broke Again is now the rapper with the fifth most charting albums in Billboard 200 history, breaking a tie with Jay-Z (24).
It’s not entirely too surprising that he accomplished this monumental feat. The rapper is dropping music nonstop & fans are still actively listening to his music regularly. In the past few months, YoungBoy dropped a total number of 3 official projects on all platforms. The first was the release of The Last Slimeto back in August. Then came the release of Realer 2; the sequel to his beloved project Realer. Last is 3800 Degrees which dropped about two weeks ago & competed against many other album drops that week. All three have been streaming well & doing excellent on the charts.
What’s Next For His Future Career?
The future is bright for NBA YoungBoy as long as he’s able to stay out of legal trouble. This is a growing issue for many of his other rap peers & even played a huge role in YoungBoy’s career so far. He’s frequently on house arrest, but got some charges dropped this year & seems to be doing excellent. Do you think Young Boy Never Broke Again can become the biggest artist in the genre & even the world one day?
