Kash Juliano Releases “Drill Soul” EP

Brooklyn rapper and vocalist Kash Juliano has just dropped his latest EP, “Drill Soul,” featuring eleven tracks that blend flowing tunes with impactful lyrics. This project showcases Kash and Rich Nunu fusing elements of drill with modern soul vibes, creating a captivating fusion. Their distinctive sound and songwriting prowess promise to take listeners on a fascinating sonic voyage.

Drill music often faces criticism, but Kash’s incorporation of soul into his work might challenge the perceptions of those who look down on the genre.

The EP kicks off with “Don’t Judge Me,” where Kash pours his emotions into each lyric, delivering lines like “Don’t you judge me by my losses, Lord guide me through these crosses” with heartfelt sincerity. Throughout the EP, Kash and Rich Nunu switch things up, featuring standout tracks like “Trippin” where he samples Ella Mai’s “Trip” and “Brand New” where he samples Luniz’s 1990s hit “I Got 5 On It“. This project is set to leave a lasting impact and appeal to fans across various musical tastes.

Kash Juliano’s signature style is marked by his gritty beats and raw lyrics, reflecting his upbringing in Brooklyn’s rugged neighborhoods. Influential figures like Jay-Z and Nas have inspired his music, evident in his exploration of themes like street life and ambition. It’s no surprise that artists from New York draw inspiration from the legendary Nas; his talent and influence are undeniable.

Kash Juliano’s Musical Spectrum Ranges From Rapping To Producing And Writing

Beyond his role as a rapper, Kash Juliano demonstrates his versatility as a producer and songwriter. He not only crafts beats for his own tracks but also lends his talents to other artists. His songwriting is praised for its honesty and authenticity, resonating with listeners on a personal level.

The fact that there are still artists who extend a helping hand to those who are seeking a career in the music industry is a heartening sight. Occasionally, some individuals wish to keep the shine all to themselves, which can be interpreted as greed. Kash, however, does not fall under this category.

Every artist has a narrative to share, whether it is to connect with those who relate to similar experiences or to shed light on backgrounds unfamiliar to others.

Rich Nunu – From Gang Turmoil To Musical Resilience

Rich Nunu, a young rapper hailing from Brooklyn, had a turbulent past marked by involvement in local gang activities. This resulted in legal troubles including charges of murder conspiracy and weapon possession, leading to a brief prison stint. His association with the FNO gang, which later merged with rival gangs PPP and YAWAH to form YPF, drew the attention of law enforcement, prompting a crackdown on gun violence.

While incarcerated, Nunu turned to songwriting as a means of self-expression and possibly therapeutic outlet. Inmates often read and write during their time behind bars, aiding in self-reflection and personal growth. This approach is necessary for everyone.

Upon his release, Nunu, along with his friend Rich Glizzy, were cleared of charges, but the others remained involved in legal proceedings. Nunu’s music, featuring tracks like “Nobody Safe,” “Keep Dumpin,” and “Proud of Me,” portrays his experiences in gang culture and the criminal justice system. He advocates for his incarcerated friends’ freedom.

While his friends continue to fight for their freedom, Rich Nunu has risen from the experience. He uses his newfound platform to spread a message of perseverance and hope.

“Drill Soul” is now available on all streaming platforms.

FM Interviews: Grammy Award-Winning Gospel Singer Dante Bowe Discusses God’s Provision, New Album, And The Success Of His Music

As famous motivational speaker Les Brown once said: “The greatest revenge is massive success.” Recently, FMHipHop spoke with Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer Dante Bowe about his gospel career and Grammy nominations.

Initially from Rockingham, NC, now based in Dallas, TX, Dante Bowe has been making waves in the contemporary Christian music scene for the past several years. He has released numerous singles and albums and has featured several songs in movies and television shows.

Honors For Dante Bowe

Dante peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Chart last year and topped Billboard’s Top 10 Gospel Artists of 2021. In addition to a Grammy Award, the chart-topping artist has been nominated for seven awards (as a soloist and as a group) across both the Gospel and Christian genres.

At this year’s award ceremony, Bowe was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for his song “God Really Loves Us,” which Maverick City Music produced. During the 64th Grammy Awards last year, he won Best Contemporary Christian Music Album and earned five nominations. Additionally, he founded and runs TRUE Music Records, an independent music management company. Besides his contributions to the music industry, he continues to be a beacon of hope for those in need by serving on the boards of charitable organizations that focus on children, the homeless, and at-risk youth.

Gospel Music Is In His Blood

There has always been a strong connection between Dante and gospel music. In his upbringing, music of all genres was appreciated. However, his grandmothers on both sides of his family taught him about gospel music. Not only that, Dante decided to try gospel music following his encounter with God at 16.

“Over time, I became known locally for singing gospel,” he said. “Nationally, when I went on tour with Eddie James and after I signed my first record deal with Bethel Music, one of the biggest Christian record labels, that’s when it all exploded. It was all an accident. I was just led by God.”

First Single

A new sound has been introduced in his first single, “Hide Me.” This song represents the beginning of his foray into the mainstream R&B market while simultaneously remaining true to his gospel roots. With his forthcoming EP Press Play, Dante hopes to achieve new heights and broaden his fan base.

According to Dante, the premise behind the single is his belief that “hiding” is the soundtrack of his life.

“Definitely the soundtrack of the last season. I felt as though God hid me to prepare me for what was to come,” he said. “A lot of times, we look at being “hidden” as a bad thing because we want exposure — we want to be seen, we want to be heard. But in my own season of solitude, I heard God’s voice more clearly. He gave me strategy and helped me rebuild my infrastructure completely with a brand new team. So now, hiding is just a soundtrack of my life.”

In celebration of Dante Bowe’s debut into mainstream R&B with his forthcoming EP Press Play, TRUE Music recently hosted a lavish party aboard the Fanta Sea yacht in Marina Del Rey. It featured a cocktail reception, a live performance by Bowe, and a scenic cruise around the marina, attended by notables such as Sabrina Harrison, Lauren Jauregui, Jemel McWilliams, YaSi, and others.

What Is The EP About?

The EP Press Play is a labor of love. According to the “King of My Heart” singer, one day, his producer came over to his house because he wasn’t answering any phone calls. After the both of them chatted for a while, the producer suggested they go upstairs to create an album and write some music. That moment was the birth of “Press Play.”

“He had no idea what would come of it — he was just following God’s voice. And so we ended up, in a matter of three months, creating 10-12 songs birthed from our conversation that day,” Bowe said. “My manager asked me, “Why don’t you call it ‘Press Play’ since you’ve been on pause for a little while?” That’s how we came up with the name of the album, and that’s how we started creating it.”

Did Maverick City Music Cut Ties With Dante?

Furthermore, the “It is Well” singer’s only strategy he’s ever known to have is hard work. “So I just worked really, really hard. I took my job seriously; I took my calling and my purpose very seriously,” said the gospel singer. There is no presumption that God’s grace or blessings will come to Dante’s aid. Instead, he believes that he must devote himself to working hard and dedicating himself to the achievement of his dreams to succeed. He is confident that God will assist him, but he does not believe God will perform all the work.

According to some reports, Dante was expelled from Maverick City Music for dancing to the music of Bad Bunny. The “truth,” however, isn’t accurate.

“I wasn’t kicked out of a group for dancing to Bad Bunny. The people at Maverick City Music are still my friends. We still love each other. In the future, there may or may not be a collaboration again. Who knows?” Dante said. “But I love Maverick City — and the way I chose to respond to them “pausing me” was by believing that it was part of God’s plan. So I just kept working hard and kept praying.”

So Many Grammy Nominations In A Short Time

The expectation of winning a Grammy Award is not common among artists. However, Dante has always dreamed of winning a Grammy Award. “I’ve always imagined my music going to the nations. Any time I write a song, I feel as though I can hear the world singing it,” he said. “I try to imagine people actually singing it back to me. So I’m very grateful they do now — but I never imagined it would happen so quickly.”

Several of the gospel singer’s songs have been nominated for Grammy awards making them more popular than his others. However, Bowe didn’t expect his songs to become popular this soon. But he believes “if you do things with excellence, and I really love writing music, and I try to be as excellent as possible and as honest and vulnerable as possible in the process,” in time, people will begin to gravitate toward these songs and they will gain popularity.

“It’s just a blessing that people feel the need to pass my songs around to their loved ones in times of trouble or even in times of joy, like my song ‘joyful.’ I just feel like I write songs for God’s people. We’re all God’s people.”

Collaborations Of Hope

Not too long ago, Dante finished doing his first show back at Rock the Universe at Universal Studios. He had Creative Director Jemel Williams, Music Director Brandon Bailey, and everyone who contributed to it there. “It was incredible. I mean, it was like a rebirth of Dante Bowe, if I can say so myself.”

The opportunity to perform before crowds of people is a blessing. However, performing with your favorite artist(s) is an even greater delight. For Dante, collaborating with famous musicians would be a great pleasure. “I would say Lauryn Hill is one of the first artists I started talking about collaborating with, but I’m totally open to so many other people. John Legend, Adele, CeCe Winans. Everybody. Everyone,” he said. “Let’s just hope that this all happens, but yeah, everyone.”

A Powerful Piece Of Advice

Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote: “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” The transition from nothing to something has been a defining experience for Dante Bowe. His advice to those facing hardships and trying to achieve success is to never give up on themselves. “Always trust in God. Put Him first, and He will lead you to the water. Even if you feel like you don’t know what to do or don’t know where to go. I don’t know whose hands to shake. I wanna be successful, but I don’t know how to do it.” Bowe said.

#FMSpotlight – Uneak’s Resilience Will Lead Him To A Bright Future

New York rapper Uneak released his most recent EP, Better In Person, in November 2022 to display his diverse abilities as an artist. On the album, “Elevate” and “Day By Day” stand out as some of the highlights. According to Uneak, Better In Person showcases his authentic sound as an artist and versatility in storytelling and lyricism.“This EP is the definition of becoming better and expressing certain things I’ve been though,” he said.

Fans have been raving about the songs “Ca$h” and “Cry,” which the rapper performed at various local events in NYC. Furthermore, the project also includes producers such as Chief Monta, Maserati Sparks, and others.

A talented lyricist with a fierce passion similar to J. Cole in Friday Night Lights, Uneak embodies an authentic sense of uniqueness in his expression and all aspects of his life. The artist is passionate about his craft and is determined to make his mark in the music industry. His lyrics are raw and honest, conveying a realness and vulnerability that listeners can relate to. The “Don’t Check Me” rapper is unafraid to stand out from the crowd and assert his individuality. While Uneak’s discography is sometimes characterized by earnest content, it also enjoys a healthy dose of pleasure and fun.

Besides rapping, Uneak aspires to perform in movies so that one day, he may be able to perform alongside Harry Styles and Beyoncé on the big screen. Nonetheless, Uneak’s greatest passion is music, and he certainly has a bright future ahead of him. Eleanor Roosevelt once said: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

Setbacks Didn’t Deter Uneak From Persevering

VoyageMIA reports that Uneak began making music at the age of eight. Due to his father’s occupation as a producer, he grew up around the industry. The separation of his father and mother took its toll on Uneak, causing him to cease performing music.

“I started playing basketball heavily and was traveling all over New York playing on different teams and tournaments,” Uneak said. “I was getting in trouble and just around the wrong people after all that happened with my family. My mother ended up sending me to Atlanta for a year to stay with my grandparents.”

Following a year spent with his grandparents, he returned to New York and attended high school. Uneak’s interest in music resurfaced when basketball started to slow down for him during his second year in college. The New York rapper’s return to music was a blessing in disguise, as it quickly propelled him onto the music scene and provided him with a new creative outlet. Uneak started doing shows before he released actual songs. In addition, the “Ca$h” rapper was getting booked at colleges all over the east coast.

Since then, Uneak’s been grinding, working on his craft, and increasing his visibility. But sadly, before COVID broke out, things were at an all-time high for the rising artist.

“I had little labels talking to me, and I had got on a gig for Netflix, but then COVID came, and all that vanished,” Uneak said. “The show was canceled, and all the attention I was getting sort of faded away. Now I’m on the grind building things back up and just continuing to elevate.”

The “Blame Us” rapper has several albums. Listed below is one of his early projects from 2020, entitled A Thousand Lessons.

A Few Years From Now, Where Does The New York Rapper See Himself?

When a person considers the future, a common question arises: “where do I see myself in five years?”

Getting a sense of where you will be in five years can be difficult because of the unpredictable nature of life. Personal goals and values can change over time, and unexpected events can happen, making it hard to plan for the future with any certainty. Uneak’s vision in five years is to become a globally recognized artist. He hopes to have multiple songs on the charts, sell out arenas, and pay off his mother’s debts.

Also, the objective of Uneak after achieving success in his rap career is to leave a legacy to inspire and motivate future generations of artists. “I think my biggest goal is to show others your dreams can become a reality as long as your willing to put that work in,” the New York rapper said. “I want people to know that not only did I make something of myself, but they can too.”

On Feb. 9, MajorStage will present Uneak’s live performance at The Meadows in Brooklyn, New York, beginning at 9 p.m. Purchase the tickets here.

“I wanted to express what I’d been feeling with someone I was on and off with for a while. We had a lot of ups and downs, but I always let her know that I was riding for her if she ever needed me,” Uneak says.

According to the “Day by Day” rapper, the song begins with him coming out of a low period in his life. As the verse progresses, he begins to speak about this unknown lover. Furthermore, Uneak stated that his message was to convey to the world that he would stand by the anonymous woman, even in the most difficult of circumstances. “When I wrote the song, I was feeling a little mix of love, pain, and cockiness,” he said.

“RED & WHITE” by Lil Uzi Vert: Album Review

Lil Uzi Vert indeed held no pauses with this EP’s creative direction. His project, “RED & WHITE,” explores different avenues of intergalactic trap and his infectious energy. The 10-track effort gives Lil Uzi Vert to show why he’s “the best rapper from Philly,” as mentioned in “Glock In My Purse.”

The themes surrounding “RED & WHITE” touch on his alluring charm, drip game, and how he “flexed up and got his check up.” Every now and then, the “Demon High” artist puts haters in their rightful place.

The rapper announced “RED & WHITE’s” arrival last week on Instagram after changing his pronouns to “they/them.”

“Red & White Ep …. Before The P!NK,” Uzi wrote in the post. “P!NK” is a highly-anticipated tape that fans have long and patiently expected.

After mentioning that “RED & WHITE” would be dropping soon, Uzi debuted several tracks on SoundCloud, including “Hittin My Shoulder,” produced by Maaly Raw, and “Flex Up.” Later, Uzi released the Sonny Digital-stamped “I Know” and “Space Cadet,” produced by Brandon Finessin, Bally, and ShaunGoBrazy.

Credit: DUB Magazine

Songs like “I KNOW” and “Hittin My Shoulder” are seemingly a blast from the past. In terms of both delivery and sound, the “Baby Pluto” hitmaker brings us back to when he was breaking into the scene. “Final Fantasy” and “Cigarette” accentuate Uzi’s ability to experiment with different sounds and cadences. Uzi even dabbles in a Jamaican accent when he spits.

“Pon di river, uh/Pon di bank, yeah (Pon di)/Pon di gun, cigarette, pon di lungs.”

“FLEX UP,” “BELIEVE ME,” and “ISSA HIT,” to name a few, emphasizes why he can talk sh*t and still back it up.

Overall, “RED & WHITE” is a tape that can excite every walk of life. Lil Uzi’s patterns of crossing are what reels in listeners from across the globe.

FrankHaveMercy: A Q&A Interview

FrankHaveMercy will be releasing his new EP, Endless Summer, on July 22. The man behind the camera has decided to pursue a new dream. Frank has decided to expand his talents and chase a music career. This next journey in his life is just another opportunity for him to express himself to the world.

FrankHaveMercy is working hard to promote Endless Summer. He recently sat down with a writer from the FMHipHop team and answered some questions.

Q&A With FrankHaveMercy

How did you get the name FrankHaveMercy?

FrankHaveMercy loves movies like 300 and Gladiator. Both movies were instant classics that so many people loved, including Frank. The theme of mercy or having no mercy continuously shows up in movies like 300, which was always interesting to FrankHaveMercy. This is what directly inspired his name. Combining his first name with his love for themes in historic action movies created the name FrankHaveMercy.

What inspired your new EP?

FrankHaveMercy wanted the EP to be relaxed and simple. The vibe created for the EP matches the title. Endless Summer is something “you can vibe with your girl or when you’re at the crib by yourself.” It’s perfect for any summertime event.

Frank worked hard on the EP while in Cabo. Mexico is a unique place to be and its environment is a vibe all on its own. He captured this vibe and uses it to create the foundation for his EP. FrankHaveMercy was able to escape and focus all his energy on his project.

It was easy for FrankHaveMercy to form the EP because he didn’t force anything. Endless Summer came from where FrankHaveMercy was in his life. He captured this moment and now fans get to experience it with him. Frank will enjoy letting his fans inside of his bubble.

What is your favorite track on Endless Summer?

For FrankHaveMercy, choosing his favorite track was hard. I still shot the question his way.

In My Head, which will drop before the EP is released, is what he went with.

The song is about how Frank can’t get a girl out of his head; a topic that many people can relate to. When someone lives in your head rent-free, it’s hard to evict them. Especially, if that person has made a major impact on your heart.

What are your favorite collaborations from the EP?

FrankHaveMercy was willing to talk about his favorite collaborations on Endless Summer. He first mentioned working with Bjrnck, who Frank calls, “an extremely talented artist.” FrankHaveMercy sent Bjrnck the beat and she went crazy on it.

He also enjoyed working with Wurld, an artist from Nigeria, which is home to many unique and special artists. FrankHaveMercy needed this uniqueness on his EP and he got it. The track came without much work.

A post shared by MERCY (@frankhavemercy)

How do you feel about stepping out from behind the scenes into the spotlight?

FrankHaveMercy feels that his decision to make music came naturally. He didn’t aspire to be a musician growing up, but when creating music became a passion he didn’t run from it. He fully embraced it.

FrankHaveMercy is not new to working in the entertainment industry. He has worked behind the scenes for years, giving him incredible insight into the industry. Frank understands the aesthetics needed to create great projects.

Other artists have started in the background and when they stepped into the spotlight, they were unstoppable. FrankHaveMercy is on that same trajectory.

What was it like performing at your first show?

FrankHaveMercy made a big step in his music career. He performed for the first time in Los Angeles at the Peppermint Club. The moment was surreal for him. Friends, peers, and family all showed up to support him including his mom. Every artist remembers the first time they stepped on a stage. FrankHaveMercy will always remember his first show.

What does FrankHaveMercy have going on after Endless Summer drops?

FrankHaveMercy has plans to perform on several stages after the EP is released. Miami and Texas are on the list and FrankHaveMercy will put his heart into each performance. He also is expected to perform at the Soho house on July 22, the same day Endless Summer will be released.

At this point in the interview, FrankHaveMercy became the driving force behind the conversation. He showed no hesitation as he began speaking.

FrankHaveMercy was ready to invite me to one of his shows in California but I was unable to attend. Then he wanted to know where I was located. I told him Texas, and he then proceeded to invite me to his show in Texas.

After, Frank started talking about the time he spent in Texas. He revealed that he was stationed there while serving in the Army. This came after he spent some time in Afghanistan. He learned discipline during his time in the military, which he now applies to other aspects of his life and career. FrankHaveMercy has a drive that is inspiring and unmatched. The Army pushed this out of him and it never left him.

Is there anything you want your fans to know about you?

FrankHaveMercy wants his fans to know that he has a work ethic that is rarely seen. He has no plans of stopping until he reaches the top of the music game. He wants to be a mogul in the industry. His mission is to have the Drake’s and Ye’s as peers. Frank believes that he will work extremely hard until it pays off.

Where can fans get the EP?

Endless Summer will be on every major platform. Fans can also find FrankHaveMercy on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by searching his name. To find him on TikTok, search FrankHaveMercyOfficial. Make sure you follow all his social media accounts to stay updated on his career.

FrankHaveMercy wants to reach someone with his music every day. No matter if it’s one person or a thousand his, mission is the same. The driving force behind his music is to touch people. FrankHaveMercy was grateful for the interview but the FMHipHop team is grateful that he trusted us to interview him. We wish him great success.

Baby Tate Shares The Experience Of Finding Confidence In Rap

Baby Tate stopped by for an interview. She talked about the role her deceased cousin Taylor played in developing her confidence as an artist.

“Yeah, my cousin, she used to always push me to sing,” Tate said. “One thing that she used to tell me was if you don’t use your gift, you’re going to lose it, and I used to be so annoyed because this is when we were in Jersey.”

Tate continued, “but yeah, she definitely was very instrumental in my confidence in showing my gifts and talents. I will forever keep her memory alive by continuing to do what she saw that I could do as a little baby.”

How Did “Baby Tate” Get Her Name?

Additionally, Tate discussed how she came up with the name Baby Tate.

“I started going by Young Baby Tate in 2015 or so because it was my Instagram name for the longest, she said. “My stage name at first was Tate, which is my given name, and people just kept saying, ‘Coming to the stage, Young Baby Tate.'”

Tate recently released the deluxe version of her 2020 EP “After The Rain.” This EP features appearances from Flo Milli and 6lack. Moreover, she recently announced that she would release a new EP in the spring called “Mani Pedi.”

“This year, I’m manifesting the most successful project I’ve ever dropped in life,” she said. “I’m so excited for “Mani Pedi” to drop this Spring.”

Brief History

Babies Tate (formerly Yung Baby Tate) belongs to the new generation of “Rap Girls” whose voice cannot be ignored in 2022. Besides being able to spit a bar or two, the rapper is capable of holding a note as well. In addition to Baby Tate’s famous song “I Am,” her body-positive, women-empowering singles easily qualify her as a 2022-rising-star artist.

Originally from Decatur, Georgia, Baby Tate is a singer, songwriter, and record producer. At 19, she released her first mixtape, “ROYGBIV” (2015). In 2018, Baby Tate also released “Boys,” followed by a follow-up in 2019 entitled “Girls.” Following the release of her debut EP, “After The Rain,” in 2020, she immediately made her presence felt. She then signed with Warner Records in 2021 and released her single “Pedi.”

Music is not new to Baby Tate, as she is the daughter of soul musician Dionne Farris. Tate is influenced by a multitude of individuals, including her mother. She uses her artistry, persona, and voice to put her in the right places, such as landing her first appearance on the 10th season of Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta. The artist used 2021 to extend her fanbase and release new content. She finished the year by releasing her new single, “Hot One.”

The New Yung Bleu EP- “No, I’m Not Okay”

New Yung Bleu’s EP marks up his highly successful year. The five-track “No, I’m Not Okay” comes after the artist released another “Moon Boy” album in July.

Throughout 2021, Yung Bleu received two BET “Best New Artist” nominations in two months. The only person who ever did this before is Chance the Rapper.

You can guess, things are going very well for Yung Bleu career-wise. His new record is, however, about mental well-being. Below is the tracklist:

  1. No, I’m Not Okay
  2. Yea, Save Yourself
  3. Family (feat Monica)
  4. Welcome Back, Dummy
  5. I’m Jealous

Yung Bleu mostly shares his romantic and spiritual troubles on his new EP. While depression and overall mental crush also come through, love seems to be the most bothersome subject for the artist.

What makes the record even more tragic is the current Bleu’s success. He records features with the stars like Chris Brown and 2 Chainz, visits The Kelly Clarkson Show, and receives multiple awards.

Still, the woes of love keep the artist down. Enough for Yung Bleu to release an EP, primarily dedicated to the subject.

The music creates and adds to the sadness while balancing Hip-Hop, R’n’B, and Bedroom Pop. Mellow kicks and overall “garage” sound add to the EP’s vibe. It almost seems like Bleu produced the whole album by himself at home.

Yung Bleu’s 2021

While the new EP sums up Yung Bleu’s 2021 work, the artist has reached many milestones this year. Yung Bleu’s star features include the likes of Chris Brown and 2 Chainz. The artist also released the “Beautiful Lies” feature with Kehlani two weeks ago. The music video currently has almost five million views.

Yung Bleu’s pathway to success seems to become more apparent and straightforward. He is undoubtedly on his way to worldwide fame and credibility.
