Future Takes Shots At Russell Wilson…Again

In a not so surprising turn of events, Future takes shots at Russell Wilson once again. Future, who shares a child with his ex, the talented Ciara, has once again thrown shade at her NFL husband on a new collab with Quavo.

Future Disses Wilson On New Single

Released on Friday, June 14, the Migos rapper’s fresh single, “Turn Yo Clic Up,” features an unexpected verse from none other than Future himself. And boy, does he take a shot at the Denver Broncos’ star quarterback.

With unapologetic audacity, Future spits out the line “fu*k Russell” while unabashedly boasting about his success on the field. It’s a classic case of rap bravado meets real-life drama. And we can’t help but grin at the rivalry that has been brewing between these two.

“Big dawg status, bill hopper,” Future proudly proclaims in his verse. Leaving us all wondering what exactly a “bill hopper” entails. Is it a reference to his financial prowess? Or perhaps it’s a subtle nod to his knack for billiards? Regardless, we’re intrigued.

And that’s not all – Future takes the opportunity to flex his shopping skills. Rapping about balling in someone’s mall for his brothers. Clearly, he knows how to treat his loved ones while rocking that Goyard bag and toting the Corduroy. Because when you’re Future, you don’t just walk around with any old bag – you bring the heat with you.

But what really caught our attention was the line that’s bound to stir up some controversy: “I got it out the field, fu*k Russell.” Now, we can’t be sure if this is a clever wordplay, suggesting that Future’s success came from his own endeavors on the field, or if he’s taking a swipe at Russell’s football career. Either way, it’s a bold move, and we can’t help but appreciate the audacity.

“Turn Yo Clic Up” is just a taste of what we can expect from Quavo’s upcoming solo album, Rocket Power. Set to drop soon, this album holds a special meaning for Quavo, as he dedicates it to his late nephew and fellow groupmate, TakeOff. It’s an emotional tribute, laced with bangers and surprises, including this unexpected Future and Russell Wilson showdown.

Listen to the track here:

While we eagerly anticipate the release of Rocket Power. We can’t help but revel in the witty banter between Future and Russell. It’s a playful back-and-forth that reminds us that even in the glitz and glam of the music industry, celebrities are just like us – indulging in some friendly teasing and rivalry.

So, buckle up and get ready for more fiery lines, clever wordplay, and unexpected disses. As long as Future has something to say, we’ll be here, popcorn in hand, enjoying the show.

Drake, Jermaine Dupri, & More Are Working On A Documentary About Magic City

Multiple people and companies joined forces to create a documentary about Atlanta’s legendary strip club, Magic City. Drake’s Dream Crew Entertainment, Jermaine Dupri, Jami Gertz, and Cole Brown made an announcement on Jul. 10 about the three upcoming episodes of the “Magic City: An American Fantasy” docuseries.

The show will give an insight into the story of Magic City, “immersing viewers in a network of intertwining relationships between hip-hop, crime, women’s sexuality & commodification, Black entrepreneurship, and socio-economic politics.”

Nelly, Quavo, Shaquille O’Neal, and many more artists have also participated in the documentary, providing their comments regarding Magic City and its legacy. Together with the artists, the club’s employees and management also gave interviews, and even some journalists provided insight.

As Jermaine Dupri explained, “Magic City is a second home for me. It’s the one place where celebrities, hustlers, politicians, and Atlanta locals all come together. I’ve watched it evolve over the years from a local joint to an internationally recognized spot. It’s about time we tell this story the right way.”

The Story of Magic City

The legendary Atlanta’s club provided a walk to fame for many artists: its Monday night events, where prominent Atlanta Hip-Hop figures would gather to listen to the newest local hits played by the club’s deejays, have accelerated the careers of, for example, Future and Migos.

The club’s history starts in 1985 when Michael “Mr. Magic” Barney opened a small space with one dancer. Mr.Magic himself started off as a salesman in the 1980s in Atlanta, telemarketing printer cartridges. “It was a scam,” the club owner admitted years later.

Magic City still remains simple, yet much more legendary after all these years, during which Madonna and Michael Jordan, who, himself, according to the Magic City owner, “wasn’t hanging out in strip clubs until Magic City” paid a visit.

The Black Mafia Family, a famous drug cartel, who even have their own eponymous show, also declared the place their resting spot during the early 2000s and until going to prison. “BMF shut the club down,” the radio host J-Nicks told GQ. “It was strippers driving Bentleys and owning seven-bedroom houses.”

Today, Magic City remains a legendary place, crucial for Atlanta’s Hip-Hop scene and Hip-Hop culture overall.

Jacquees Stands With His Brother Gunna

R&B crooner Jacquees isn’t choosing sides in the YSL case.  Recently, many rappers have unfollowed Gunna on social media, causing the internet world to come up with different conclusions.  Meek Mill, Lil Baby, and Lil Durk are just a few of the rappers to disassociate themselves from the DS4 rapper.  The self-proclaimed “King of R&B” is not going to follow suit.

Jacquees Is Not a Follower

Jacquees has collaborated with both Young Thug and Gunna.  In 2019, all three artists combined to make “Verify”.  Jacquees remains that he just wants to see the YSL team free.

“Oh, yeah, I just stay outta that.  I just wish everybody the best.  Free my brother, though!  That’s the biggest thing.” Said Jacquees to TMZ.

Cleary, he is trying to keep everything positive.

Jacquees is Busy

Earlier this month, Jacquees opened a new business.  The “B.E.D.” singer is the owner of The Wine and Tapas Bar in Georgia.  Jacquees was born in Decatur, Georgia which is not far from the establishment.  He aspired to have a place of business in his community, where black and brown people can have the opportunity to work.  His dedication to his community shows as he even hired his childhood friend to be an executive chef at the bar.

Aside from owning a new bar, Jacquees has also started his apparel line with Frozen Roses Collection.  The line is an ode to his mother as he calls himself a “mama’s boy”.  The line consists of hoodies, hats, and t-shirts.

The Cash Money artist released his latest album, Sincerely For You, last month.  The album was executive produced by Future with features from Tory Lanez, Summer Walker, 21 Savage, and 6Lack.  Future has a verse as well on “When You Bad Like That”.  They just shot the video for the song last week.  Sincerely For You landed in the number 20 spot on the Billboard R&B chart on its debut.

Lil Baby Claims Atlanta is the Hub for Hip-Hop

Lil Baby performed at the LA3C festival in Los Angeles this past weekend.  It was the first festival for the LA3C, an organization driven to celebrate the creativity and culture of the city of Los Angeles, and the It’s Only Me rapper was the headliner.

Snoop Dogg and Kyle were the other rappers to hit the festival stage.  During the festival, he was asked about where hip-hop was as a genre right now. He responded by giving a big praise to Atlanta, his hometown.

“As far as culture, I feel like I been feeling.  Atlanta is like the ruler of the culture as far as Hip Hop…” Lil Baby told Billboard magazine.

Atlanta is Hip-Hop

Lil Baby does have a point here.  Atlanta has been home to some of the hottest artists out right now.  Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Quavo, Offset, Gunna, Playboi Carti, Latto, and J.I.D. all hail from Atlanta!  Future’s album I NEVER LIKED YOU is up for a Grammy for Best Rap Album this year and is his eighth number one album.  Young Thug is up for a Grammy along with Gunna for their song “Pushin P”.

https://twitter.com/nowhiphopnews_/status/1599442174885494784?s=46&t=xsJ5wtJ6Q0y5nfg_7xEiSQ

Playboi Carti is known for his live performances, and he has already been tapped by Rolling Loud to be the headliner for their California festival next year.  Latto is up and coming as she has snagged a Grammy nominee for Best New Artist.  J.I.D. ‘s album The Forever Story is regarded as one of the best albums of this year!  And of course, Atlanta is home to many rap legends.  T.I., Ludacris, Jeezy, OutKast, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, Killer Mike, and Jermaine Dupri are all products of Atlanta.  They are all still making music today after all these years!

The South Runs It

Lil Baby might be right about Atlanta being the “ruler of the culture” when you think about all the talent, past and present.  The South has been holding hip-hop down for years now, with Atlanta being at the forefront.  Memphis has been picking it up lately with all the new and exciting artists coming out of there.  And Florida has always had someone to represent.  It must be something in the water in the South.  Will Atlanta ever lose the crown?  If Lil Baby is around, I doubt it.

Metro Boomin Droppin Tomorrow

Metro Boomin is releasing his new album tomorrow!  Titled Heroes & Villains, the Atlanta producer has shared the track list for fans. This sophomore album is a follow up to Not All Heroes Wear Capes, which he dropped in 2018. The current project was supposed to come out in November, but Metro had to push it back because there were issues with clearing samples. The album consists of 15 tracks with a few star features. Artists such as Future, Chris Brown, 21 Savage, and Travis Scott all make appearances on the project.

Heroes and Villains

Earlier this week, Metro Boomin debuted his short film for the album. In the short film, rappers Gunna and Young Thug, and legendary actor Morgan Freeman make a cameo. Freeman serves as the film’s narrator. The famous actor is no stranger to working with Metro Boomin. The Atlanta producer himself is no stranger to acting, as well. In 2020, Metro Boomin performed a few skits for his joint album with 21 Savage, Savage Mode II. The film was directed by Gibson Hazard and Atlanta star Lakeith Stanfield plays the villain in the short.

Metro released the album cover for Heroes & Villains on Instagram. His album cover is a remake of another classic album. He took Pink Floyd’s 1975 album cover; Wish You Were Hereand made it his own. On the cover of Wish You Were, there is a man shaking the hand of another man who is on fire.  It turns out the man is his twin. Metro does the same thing, on one side, he is in a white suit on fire and on the other side he is in a black suit (not on fire). On Instagram, he captioned the photo, “must be 2 sides”, possibly speculating that the album could be a double disc project.

We wish all the best for Metro Boomin as we know he has been going through a lot since his mother was killed this past Summer.  On Instagram, he expressed how he is doing, and he says he is “dying slow”, and would not know where he would be without his siblings.

Lil Baby Releases New Album ‘It’s Only Me’

In the midst of an exciting 2022 for Lil Baby, the Atlanta native dropped his third studio album It’s Only Me on Friday. The 23-track project features some of the hottest names in rap, including Future, Nardo Wick and Young Thug. The album also contains his latest single “Heyy”, with the visual to follow.

The rapper teased fans throughout the summer with songs such as “In a Minute”, “Frozen”, and “Right On”. After releasing “Detox” in September, he unveiled concrete details about the album at the beginning of October, confirming the number of tracks as well as features.

On Monday, Young Thug playfully threatened Baby, saying that if that he “don’t drop in 3 days, we ain’t bruddas.” Thugger has been behind bars since May, awaiting trial for RICO charges.

Lil Baby’s 2022 so far

It’s been a breakthrough year for Baby. The platinum selling artist recently concluded his “One of Them Ones” tour with Chris Brown. He also released his critically successful documentary Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby. He even became the voice for the 2022 FIFA World Cup with “The World Is Yours To Take.”

“If even one person is inspired to think their life can change, or be close to what they dream of, then this documentary was worth making,” Baby said on the doc. “I just want to share my story in the hope that it helps others get to their own best story.”

The “Freestyle” rapper took another win when he won the Best Hip-Hop Award at the VMAs alongside Nicki Minaj for “Do We Have a Problem?”.

Earlier this week, Lil Baby was spotted in Atlanta shooting another video for one of the songs off of It’s Only Me. He also appeared on The Tonight Show to perform “Russian Roulette.”

You can stream It’s Only Me on Spotify or Apple Music.

T.I. Names Top 5 Atlanta Rap Albums

Although, he has made headlines for his beef with Charleston White this week.  There is another spotlight on T.I., this time in reference to the music.  The Atlanta legend named his top five Atlanta Hip Hop albums.  He was on the show, Fresh Pair, where he discussed this topic with hosts Katty Customs and Just Blaze.  The self-proclaimed “King of the South” named OutKast, Goodie Mob, Young Thug, Future, and 21 Savage to have the top five Atlanta albums.

Tip’s Top 5

To our surprise, TIP did not name any of his albums in his list.  Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik by OutKast, Soul Food by Goodie Mob, Slime Season by Young Thug, Dirty Sprite by Future, and I am > I was by 21 Savage all are near and dear to the 42-year-old rapper’s heart.  We all know T.I. is no slouch himself.  He has released 11 studio albums; in which 3 straight years he had the #1 album on the Billboard 200 chart.  This includes King in 2006, T.I. vs. T.I.P in 2007, and Paper Trail in 2008.  The Grammy winning rapper has also racked up four #1 singles on the Billboard 100 chart.  This includes ‘Whatever You Like’, ‘My Love’, ‘Blurred Lines’, and ‘Live Your Life’.  He definitely has the right to include one of his projects in this discussion.  I get it, I guess he is just being humble.

Fresh Pair

Fresh Pair is a new show by UpRoxx where sneakerhead Katty Customs and legendary producer Just Blaze talk with some of the biggest stars in hip hop.  They discuss music, culture, sneakers, and fashion.  Recently, The Game was on an episode and the hosts asked him to name his top five Los Angeles rap albums.  The Compton rapper named The Chronic, Doggystyle, The Documentary, good kid, m.A.A.d city, and Death Certificate on his list.  Of course, The Game included himself and I don’t blame him.

Future Sells His Publishing Catalog In A Deal Worth A “High Eight-Figure” Sum

Future has made a significant decision. Based on the circumstances that Influence Media Partners has identified, they acquired Future’s publishing catalog between 2004 and 2020.

There Is A Large Amount Of Music In The Future’s Discography

It is estimated that the artist’s work from those years comprises 612 titles. Those titles include collaborations with Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna (“Selfish”), and the Weeknd, as well as Future’s own solo efforts, including “Mask Off.” The final deal appears to be worth a high eight-figure amount; a source has told Variety.

Before entrusting his songs to IMP, Future stated that he put 100 percent effort into his music. He also ensured they were in good hands before handing them over.

“I’m proud to partner up with Rene and the team at Influence Media and send a signal that this music has timeless value,” the “Turn On the Lights” rapper added in a statement. “My music is my art, and these songs represent some of the most precious artwork of my career.”

Influence Media Partners

Influence Media Partners, a company specializing in acquiring publishing rights to the music, has spent $300 million as of February 2022. The company commissioned several songs from artists, including Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, and Justin Bieber.

IMP seems to have a high level of trust among artists. Many companies are capable of exploiting people for their money, but this one does not appear to be one of them.

Moreover, Warner Music Group and BlackRock received further funding in February. The additional funding came from IMP, which has been criticized for infringing on the competition. In March, Influence Media acquired the entire catalog of reggaeton heavyweight Tainy. The roster included songs by some of the best names in the genre, including Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Kali Uchis.

Future’s Hustle Has Inspired Other Rappers

Future’s enormous publishing catalog also results from the rapper’s relentless work ethic that has become a defining characteristic of the hip-hop genre. Moreover, rapper Toosii said he had the opportunity to witness it for the first time on Tuesday, Sep 19.

“I dont been in the studio with a lot of n*ggas but I don’t think nobody fw @future,” Toosii wrote on his Instagram Story. “I heard so many different flows and I’m talking all hits.”

https://twitter.com/HipHopDX/status/1571964898124664839

Acknowledgment

Furthermore, Future has received recognition for his work. According to Rene McLean, an Influence Media partner and founding company advisor, the “PIE” rapper is one of their most significant cultural icons.

As well as praising him, he adds that Future has revolutionized the music industry in ways that no one has ever imagined and continues to serve as a blueprint for impact and success.

“It is rare to find someone who moves music and culture at the same speed with his distinct vocal and melodic style,” said Rene.

Megan Thee Stallion Facing Record Label Issues Ahead Of ‘Traumazine’ Release

Megan Thee Stallion is going at it with her label again due to issues with song leaks & rollout plans. Her new album Traumazine is set to release at midnight (August 12) & should be her last release on 1501 Certified Entertainment. This isn’t the first time Megan expressed discontent with her label, as frictions have lingered for most of her career since fame. Yesterday, August 10th, Meg went on Twitter to reassure fans & clear up some things about her project/situation. Take a look at her initial tweet below:

About Megan’s New Album Traumazine

As mentioned above, Megan is still dropping her new album Traumazine tonight under 1501 Certified Entertainment. This album should be the last on her current contract with the label according to the Texas superstar. Her previous album, Good News, sold over 100,000 units in its first week of release 2 years ago. Traumazine features an 18-song tracklist that includes previously released singles like “Plan B”, “Pressurelicious” & “Sweetest Pie”.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by FMHipHop (@fmhiphop)

Her new album contains a load of talented guest appearances ranging from her peers & Hip-Hop veterans. Dua Lipa, Jhené Aiko, Rico Nasty, Latto, Key Glock, Pooh Shiesty, Future & more. Which song are you the most excited to stream upon the album’s release later on tonight?

Where Will Meg’s Career Go Next From Here?

Things should hopefully die down between Megan & her label now that this is her last album on her contract. The hot girls are ready for their favorite female artist to finally be out of her troubling label contract. With that being said, there’s a good chance Megan could stay independent & take more control of her career. Alternatively, labels are probably lined up waiting to offer her millions of dollars whenever she departs from 1501 Certified Entertainment. If you were in her position, how would you navigate these choices?
