Female Hip-Hop Rappers Such As Coi Leray, BIA, and Missy Elliot Release Lit Tracks

Female hip-hop rappers are giving everyone straight fire lately.

The collabs are hot, the beats are hotter, and the bars catch fire in every speaker you hear.

Hip-hop girlies Coi LerayBIABaby TateSaweetieFlo MilliLola BrookeLattoYung Miami, and Missy Elliot are the gifts that keep on giving.

Each track had a different vibe and interesting collaboration, but it worked elegantly.

Coi Leray’s “On Player (Remix)” And “Nonsense (Remix)”

Starting with Coi Leray, she dropped two remixes in the past 48 hours, with one of hip-hop’s finest Busta Rhymes and the other with popstar Sabrina Carpenter.

Two completely different artists, but Coi is such a ‘trendsetter’ and popstar that she can pull off the legendary “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” backtrack under her song “Players.”

However, “Nonsense (Remix)” with Sabrina Carpenter was an exciting breath of fresh air that was still Coi with a cute pop twist.

I tip my hat to the Boston native.

BIA And Timbaland’s “I’M THAT B**TCH”

Then we get into BIA

Bianca Miquela Landrau always delivers. She took on the daring beat of Missy Elliot and Timbaland’s “She’s a B**ch” for her version “I’M THAT B**TCH.”

She really got a co-sign when Missy Elliot congratulated her on the legend’s Instagram story.

Plus, Timbaland helped her make the track. I think that is the biggest co-sign you could get.

It’s a riveting take on the original song, meeting the present sample with an almost drill beat underneath BIA‘s lyrics.

Baby Tate And Saweetie’s “Hey Mickey!”

Next, Baby Tate and Saweetie‘s “Hey Mickey!” gives us the cute baddie vibe they both exude.

A pop song that turned into a fused pop and hip-hop version.

The Atlanta native always has fun with any of her releases, so it was only right that she paired with Saweetie.

The California native born as Diamonté changed her flow up a little with Tate.

It was a nice little shock and made me proud to hear the ‘Icy Girl’ give us something different.

Flo Milli’s “Bed Time (Remix)” With Monaleo And Gloss Up

Furthermore, Flo Milli teamed up with newer mainstream female rappers Monaleo and Gloss Up.

Three of them remixed Flo’s single off her latest album, “Bed Time.”

The lyrics were givin’ ‘I’m going to have my girls’ backs whenever and wherever.’

Monaleo and Gloss Up’s voices and lyrics complement Flo Milli’s cutesy voice pretty well.

Lola Brooke’s “Don’t Play With It” With Latto and Yung Miami

In addition, Lola Brooke’s “Don’t Play With It” is TikTok viral. The New York rapper was the bombshell the industry needed.

So, of course, Latto and Yung Miami had to hop on the train. These two are in the group of some of the hottest female rappers.

It is a great look for Lola Brooke.

Latto and Yung Miami sound like they had fun on this track. Caresha even trolls her fans about Diddy in her verse.

FLO With Missy Elliot’s Fly Girl

Finally, we have Hip-Hop royalty who is the legendary Missy Elliot. FLO is a new girl group from the UK that probably has the potential to be the next Destiny’s Child.

It was smart for them to get Missy on “Fly Girl” because the chorus comes from the Virginia native’s hit “Work It.”

Hearing Missy Elliot rapping again slapped a smile on my face. No one has a flow like her, and her voice just takes me back to the early 2000s.

The females continue to take the industry by storm, and I hope they keep us all on the edge of our seats.

The Social Stigma Of Wearing Wigs Has Subsided, And Are Worn By Many

In America, over 50% of people wear wigs or hair extensions. Over 90% of celebrities fall into this category. Historically, women wore wigs discreetly and never admitted to wearing them. For example, in Revolutionary France, wigs were considered a sign of the aristocracy and were associated with deception. As a result, Parliament passed the Hair Powder Act of 1795, effectively banning wigs. However, with the growing number of celebrities and influencers wearing wigs today, the stigma associated with wigs has been largely removed, and the general public has become more accepting of wigs as a form of fashion.

One may choose to cover one’s natural hair for several reasons. Many women wear wigs or weave extensions to protect their natural hair from heat styling and the elements or to add length and volume. Some celebrities like Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Kim, and others frequently change their appearances to experiment with new looks and promote themselves as entertainers.

A Wig Maker Destined To Promote Women’s Confidence

A primary objective of Shani Lechan, the founder of Shani Wigs, has been to rid the world of the stigma associated with wearing wigs by women across a wide range of demographics. In addition to being predominantly Jewish women, her clientele has shifted considerably to include individuals suffering from cancer and alopecia.

As a result of many celebrities wearing them, the wig business has proven to be profitable. In the Netflix series “Emily in Paris,” actress Lily Collins wore wigs designed by Lechan.

Celebrities Who Wear Wigs With Pride

Besides changing their style, women who are unhappy with their hair, thinning, or alopecia feel less self-conscious about wearing wigs since wearing them has become more acceptable.

The talented Beyonce Knowles is a woman with an incredibly keen sense of style and an openness to experimenting with new looks. She is internationally recognized for her long sleek ponytail, blunt bob cut with curls, braided ponytail, and top bun hairstyles. In most public appearances, she wears a wig or hair extensions. As a result of Beyonce’s formation, wigs and lace-front wigs became acceptable, causing a stir within the wig industry.

Additionally, rapper Saweetie owns an extensive collection of wigs that she admitted to having filled a whole room in her home. As a musician, Saweetie needs to be versatile and able to change her look quickly. Having a room full of wigs allows her to quickly and easily switch up her style and add variety to her performances. In an interview with the New York Post’s Page Six Style, she shared: “I probably could’ve bought a house by now, with all the money I spend on wigs. I’m always going to give it a look, though.

“If I want a new wig or new colour or a new cut, that’s what the icy girl gotta do. I actually have a wig room. I’ve lost count of how many wigs I got … I might as well come out with my own line.”

Celebrities & Everyone Can Do It

The fact that women now wear wigs for religious reasons also contributes to the widespread acceptance of wearing wigs. Wigs are required for women who follow the Judaism faith. Historically, this has been true since the 16th century but has become increasingly exposed to people not of the same religious belief or lifestyle.

Judaism views a woman’s hair as a symbol of ‘nakedness,’ which must be covered once she has married a man. In the past, most Jewish women wore synthetic wigs with bob lengths since these were their only selection. This is why many women opt to cover their hair with a hat, scarf, or wig once married, as it signifies modesty and respect for their spouse. This practice is known as “tznius” in Jewish culture and is an integral part of the faith.

Wigs are becoming more widespread, and many women are replacing their traditional Sheitel (Jewish wig) with longer styles manufactured from human hair and available in different colors and textures, such as curly and wavy hair. “I never thought hair covering would bring women from so many different backgrounds, religions, and ethnicity, “ said Shani.

Wig Maker Expert’s Opinions On Wigs

New York wigmaker Merria Dearman is equally optimistic that taboos surrounding wigs are dissolving. “We know that Jennifer Lopez doesn’t have 6-inch hair one day and 24-inch hair the next day,” she said. She states that celebrities are becoming more open to wearing wigs and hair extensions and are using them as tools to bring fun and variety to their looks.

Popular wigs today are lace wigs. They offer a unique opportunity to express yourself while allowing you to switch up your look daily safely and naturally. Shani Lechan echoes the same sentiment, “we believe every woman is unique, and so their wigs have to be unique too; that is why each piece is fully customized.

If it’s appropriately customized, you can’t tell it’s a wig. Dearman believes this will increase the acceptance of wigs and reduce their stigma.

Louticia Grier, owner and master wig maker of A Diva’s Hidden Hair Manufacturer, focuses on providing quality wigs to ‘everyday people’ in need. The treatment benefits individuals who wish to grow more hair, have different types of hair, or are experiencing hair loss due to medical reasons.

“It’s a beautiful thing to know that my custom wigs and hair systems brings both inner and outer beauty to women,” Grier said. In her opinion, women are most beautiful when they are themselves.

Cardi B Not Rushing New Album

Cardi B hasn’t released in album in 4 years!  That’s a shame because her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, was received very well.  In fact, it won a Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2018!  What’s the holdup Bardi?  She is really busy after all; she is a mom of two and an A-list celebrity that does more than just music.  Just recently, a fan suggested that the Bronx rapper hasn’t dropped anything because she is afraid it won’t sell.

The fan said this on TikTok after Saweetie had very low sales number after releasing her new tape, The Single LifeCardi had time to clap back at the fan on Twitter.  She said she doesn’t have to put out another album if she doesn’t want to because of her Diamond records.  Her Diamond records include, her breakout hit, “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It” featuring J Balvin and Bad Bunny, and “Girls Like You”, which is a collaboration with pop group Maroon 5.  She continued to add that her tours do numbers as well.  In 2019, her Arena Tour grossed an average of $1 million per show!  It’s safe to say Cardi B is living well and might not ever have to make another album again.

Invasion of Privacy is still doing numbers to this day!  The debut album is certified triple platinum.  She became the first female rapper to have multiple number-one songs at the same time on the Billboard Hot 100.  This album is the first album in music history to have all songs certified platinum or higher.  Invasion of Privacy is the best-selling female rap album of the 2010s!  With this much success, I don’t blame her for not rushing to record.  She may be taking a page from Rihanna’s book.  We know the Fenty owner doesn’t have to step in the booth ever again if she doesn’t want to.  Cardi may be on the same type of time.

Well, the world is waiting Cardi, we hope to hear from you soon!

FMHipHop New Music Weekend Roundup

It’s Monday, so I hope you were able to catch up on the new music that dropped over the weekend.  Don’t worry if you didn’t, FMHipHop has you covered!  We all know Saweetie dropped her EP, The Single Life, on Friday.  The 6-track EP has been highly anticipated as fans want to hear her reactions to all the gossip about her in the industry.  Looks like she has a bit of tea to spill.  But she isn’t the only artist to drop new music.  Let’s see who else put out new projects over the weekend!

Dave East & DJ Drama-Book of David

Dave East & DJ Drama finally link up for a Gangsta Grillz production.  The Book of Daviddropped over the weekend.  This is the second tape of the year for the Harlem rapper.  In March, he released his EP, HDIGH.  Drama sure has been busy after dropping a trio of mixtapes last month.  He intends to drop his album, I’m Really Like That, soon as he has teased a clip on social media.  Book of David has 17 tracks and the only features on this tape are Buda & Grandz.  They handled the production on the album.  We like this duo.  It was only a matter of time before Dave East and DJ Drama linked up!

Roddy Ricch-Feed tha Streets III

Roddy Ricch is back with his Feed tha Streetsseries.  After announcing the project last year and dropping a few singles, the third installment is finally here.  The 15-track mixtape only features Lil Durk and Ty Dolla $ign.  Just like Dave East, this will also be the Compton rapper’s second drop of this year.  In June, he released The Big 3 EP, which consisted of three tracks.  Roddy Ricch said the biggest thing he wanted to express with this project is that he wanted to have fun with it.  He wants himself and his fans to enjoy the music wherever they are.

Rod Wave-Jupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory

Since Rod Wave has been in the game, he hasn’t slowed down.  He is back with his second drop of 2022 with Jupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory.  In August, he released his album, Beautiful MindJupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory consists of 8 tracks with no features.  It’s interesting that he dropped this tape, while on tour for his August album.  Maybe some of the fans will get to hear him perform songs from the new EP.  I’m sure he’ll have a treat for his fans along the way.

Saweetie To Drop Two Albums Before The End of 2022

Saweetie is planning to release two albums before the end of 2022, according to Rolling Stone. The Santa Clara native revealed that fans might be able to listen to the two projects before the year ends. The Single Life, which will cover Saweetie’s perspective on life since her 2021 breakup with Quavo, is expected to drop first.

“I’m excited to share what I went through,” Saweetie said of the first of the two albums. “I think as I was making it, I was more proud to be single. Because I realized that I was growing, I realized that I was elevating, and I realized that I was becoming a better woman.”

Meanwhile, Saweetie also reassured fans that the highly anticipated Pretty Bitch Music is still on the way. “She’s still in the womb, I haven’t popped her out,” the ‘My Type’ rapper teased. “I want to thank my fans for patiently waiting.”

The release dates for The Single Life and Pretty Bitch Music have not been announced yet.

Saweetie addresses her past relationships

Saweetie sat down with People magazine to discuss her past flames and her process in making The Single Life. She referred to the album as her “testimony as a single woman and what I’ve been through, the good and the bad.”

“I feel like a lot of my private love life has been publicized on the media and the internet, so it’s time for me to speak up,”  the “Tap In” artist explained in the interview. “I think the best way to respond to my perception is through the music, ‘cuz honestly, if you don’t know me personally, I’m not gonna have a personal conversation online.”

Though Saweetie and Quavo ended their relationship last year, the former couple were in the news recently. On Quavo and Takeoff’s track Messy”, the ATL rapper appeared to allude to an ex-girlfriend who slept with his friend. Fans speculated that the reference was to Saweetie and Lil Baby, who were pictured together shortly after the split. However, no confirmation was made as to who the track referred to.

Yung Miami Claims She’s Retired From Rap, “…I don’t even rap no more!”

It looks like Yung Miami of the Miami-bred duo City Girls may be already retired from the rap game. On Sunday, Yung Miami tweeted her reactions to the game between the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Rams. Another Twitter user asked the QC artist if she understood the game of football.

“Yes, I cheered up until high school, I know football very well!!!!!!”, she responded. This led to another person telling Yung Miami to make better music.

“B**** I don’t even rap no more! Eat this p**** h*e I retired!,” Yung Miami exclaimed. This has led many fans to believe she may have already retired from rap. If so, she may lean towards her new role in media. Yung Miami’s Caresha Please podcast launched on P. Diddy’s Revolt network earlier this year. So far, the show has featured guests such as Megan Thee Stallion, Kevin Gates, Saweetie and Diddy himself.

“Revolt is about giving a platform to the most authentic and disruptive voices in Hip-Hop that move the culture,” Puff stated in June. “Yung Miami is not only a superstar artist, she’s also unapologetically herself and brings a perspective women around the world can relate to, which is why I’m excited to bring her podcast to life.”

Caresha Please earned a nomination for Best Hip Hop Platform at this year’s BET Awards. City Girls have also picked up nods at both the BET Awards and the Billboard Music Awards over the last three years. In 2021, they received the “The Future is Female” award from Variety.

The duo haven’t released an album since 2020’s City On Lock. However, their latest track “Good Love” featuring Usher peaked at #70 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in July. As of now, it remains to be seen if Yung Miami has truly called it quits.

Saweetie Speaks On Past Relationship With Quavo

Saweetie made an appearance on Yung Miami’s podcast Caresha Please, opening up on her relationship with ex Quavo. The Icy Girl’s dating life has been a major topic of discussion since she entered the rap game. She’s been linked with everyone from Lil Baby to Justin Combs.

However, fans can’t seem to stop circling back to Saweetie’s two year relationship with Quavo. The “My Type” rapper and the Migos star split last year over what she called a “betrayal.” No specifics about the breakup have been revealed, but Saweetie did address the issue on Caresha Please.

Yung Miami grilled Saweetie over rumors that the “Hotel Lobby” rapper cheated on her, fracturing the relationship. However, the Sacremento native didn’t give a direct response. “I think the past is the past and I’ve moved on since then,” she said while making a face. The City Girl followed up by asking whether or not the relationship was toxic. “I think we had a lot of growing pains together,” Saweetie replied.

As the podcast continued, Yung Miami touched on Saweetie’s memorable moments with Quavo. Saweetie then shared her thoughts on where the relationship may have been heading.

“I thought we was gon’ spend the rest of our lives together,” the “Best Friend” artist said. “With him, I knew it was the one. It was different.”

Yung Miami couldn’t help but address the fallout of the breakup when Quavo repossessed Saweetie’s car. The rapper simply laughed and told the host that she enjoyed the luxury lifestyle, but she would have to get her next car herself.

Saweetie since Quavo

Since her breakup in 2021, Saweetie has been spotted with many male celebrities. Earlier this year, fans speculated that she was back with her ex Keith Powers after the two were spotted at a friend’s party. Rumors also circulated that she was seeing Lil Baby after he reportedly treated her to a shopping spree.

Saweetie addressed these relationships on Caresha Please. “I’ve encountered men who, like…You know, we have a good time and then after that I hear them talking like telling people that we hanging out and that we doing some extra stuff. But it’s just like, Boy, just shut your mouth’.”

Saweetie and a Fan Share a Moment at Rolling Loud Miami

One fan found himself the object of Saweetie’s eye at the Rolling Loud Miami stage Friday. After performing “Don’t Say Nothing,” a man in the front caught the rapper’s eye. Before asking his name, she said “I love being single but um, this gentleman right here … he got this little chain on.” She then announced to the crowd that the man is “my type,” referencing one of her biggest hits. This led to her performance of “My Type.”

A video of the interaction went up on TikTok with the poster, Will Muan, claiming to be the man from the festival. In the video, you can see Saweetie point out a man in a white tank top. The surrounding crowd seems to hype him up as they continued interacting. The comments under the TikTok were supportive of the moment as well.

Social Media Reacts To The Viral Moment

Social media users had a lot to say about Saweetie shouting out Will Muan’s good looks. One Twitter user called Muan a “lucky S.O.B.” Another said, “This why you stay in the gym and get yo sh-t together guys!!!” A few people seemed to think the interaction was corny, some even though it was staged. However, most people commenting on the matter, thought it was cute.

Muan is enjoying the spotlight as well, posting another TikTok of him slow-motion walking to Saweetie’s “My Type.” Though there doesn’t seem to be a part two to the moment they shared, it remains a highlight of the festival. In addition to this, Saweetie’s performance generated a lot of buzz for her performance of “Don’t Say Nothing.” Fans dissected the track, some coming to the conclusion that it confirms the Lil Baby dating rumors circulating last year. The song’s lyrics imply a breach of trust and dating rumors, it’s unclear who the lyrics actually point to. Saweetie’s full set went up on Rolling Loud’s official YouTube account on July 23. The set has amassed over 20,000 views. You can watch it below.

Future Brings Out Travis Scott, Surprises Fans At Rolling Loud Miami

Many artists that took the stage at the Rolling Loud Miami festival. Some even brought out special guests. On Saturday, July 23rd, Future surprised many fans during his headlined set as he welcomed Travis Scott to the stage.

According to Hip Hop DX, rumor has it that Travis Scott was banned from performing at Rolling Loud as 10 people were killed during his Astroworld Festival back in November of 2021. The source reports his banning may have been the reason Kanye West stepped down last minute from headlining Friday’s show and was replaced by Kid Cudi. However, a spokesperson for Rolling Loud updated us in regards to Travis Scott’s headline saying, “We reached out to Travis to headline Rolling Loud, but it couldn’t work in such a short time. This had nothing to do with any restrictions from the hosting venue Hard Rock Stadium.”

As the festival welcomed Travis back to the stage, he performed several verses starting with “Hold That Heat” and “Goosebumps.” At Future’s request for Scott to stay, they then performed “March Madness.”

Saweetie Pitches in Style At Dodgers

Saweetie returned from the Dodger Stadium’s stylish performance with a newfound love—baseball. The 29-year-old rapper was the first pitcher during the Filipino Heritage Night. Los Angeles Dodgers invited Saweetie, whose deep love and care for the maternal Filipino root and community showed at the event.

Saweetie put on high footwear, adding some inches to her height and artificially long nails. Excessive manicure did not stop the artist from performing the ceremonial first pitch task effectively. She successfully hit the target.

https://twitter.com/Saweetie/status/1545551576374292481?s=20&t=Kr906BZ8aA9XHSuru6R4jg

The motivation and success of the performance could be placed on Saweetie’s love for the game. She also loves the Filipino community nonetheless.

Her post on Twitter attracted comments like “Me too,” “I love you,” and “You looked like you had so much fun.”

“You look good and did a good job mama,” another person said.

However, some baseball lovers also started offering advice about what teams’ outfits Saweetie needed to wear. One of them claimed, “grl, you need to rock a SF Giants or Oakland Athletics jersey instead!”

Beyond Dodgers’ Pitching Appearance and Talks

Away from visiting Dodgers’ games, Saweetie recently also discussed realizing her purpose with the platform God gave her. She pinpointed the need to educate and ensure “the babies in the Filipino community grow up to have a bright future.”

She wants to also channel her energy to help “people who look like me in lower-income communities.”

The Filipino-American rapper actress is out for the improvement of Asian Americans.

Specifically, the Philippines came on the international agenda of Saweetie’s non-profit organization, Icy Baby Foundation. Saweetie established the non-profit to help entrepreneurs, provide scholarships, help with college preparation, and support underserved communities of color. Saweetie expressed a wish to use the organization and any opportunity she gets as an artist to change the lives of the community for good.
