Up-and-Coming Rapper Yeat Promises Album “2 Alivë” Early Next Month

21-year old Yeat came out of nowhere in 2021. The rapper, from Portland Oregon, hit it big with “Gët Busy,” and he is looking to start 2022 off strong. In an Instagram story, Yeat revealed that his next album 2 Alivë is set to release at the start of the next month. There is “just one feature” left to complete. Fans of the young rapper simply can’t wait.

Yeat in 2021

The NYC rapper took an unconventional path to fame. Though largely unknown in 2020, the tracks he posted to Tik-Tok became wildly popular. This led to widespread recognition and a spot on the Billboard 200. “Up 2 Më,” which was released on September 10th, broke in at number 184 just last week. Yeat commented on his success in an interview with Our Generation Music, “It’s crazy because I thought I was good the whole time. I feel like that’s what kept me going. And it just kept growing more and more — now when I look back, it’s just like damn, I really did this”

Yeat worked hard all year to release two entire albums. He earned his spot on the Billboard and carved out a name for himself as the Soundcloud King. Yeat isn’t the only artist to buck the traditional industry since the pandemic hit. SZA broke into the top 10 of the Hot 100 almost by accident. The overwhelmingly positive reaction from her fans on Soundcloud prompted her to push it further. Meanwhile, India Arie calls the Industry as a whole “TRASH.” Perhaps we’ve entered the era of Soundcloud.

2 Alivë in 2022

Yeat was supposed to drop his album sometime in January. However, for an unknown reason, he pushed it back to February.

Earlier this week, he posted on his Instagram story in order to both explain the delay and generate hype for the album’s imminent release.

What could this mysterious last thing be? Fans speculate that it could be lyrics from Drake, and are ready to see Yeat hit Number 1.

Future On Becoming The First Soundcloud Artist With 10M Followers: “Thank U”

Future Hendrix is the first artist off to reach 10 million followers on Soundcloud. The artist left Big Sean and Young Money behind with their 9.5M and 8.47M followers. Hendrix also shared the achievement on Instagram and thanked the fans with sincere words and emojis.

Future didn’t post any songs on his Soundcloud account for the past thirteen months. Regardless, Hendrix’s achievement doesn’t look very surprising.

After all, the artist was one of the Soundcloud pioneers. Future’s audience could not listen to the artist’s older albums anywhere but Soundcloud for a while. The artist also started publishing tracks on the social network long before Soundcloud rap emerged in 2015-2016.

The Biggest Future’s Soundcloud Trap-Hit

The most popular Future’s song on Soundcloud is “Trap N***as” from the “DS2” album. The composition now has 96.5 million streams.

Future’s Soundcloud-famous song also has a commentary to it. Available in the premium version on Soundcloud and for free on YouTube, it’s a minute-long speech. Hendrix talks about the own trap-anointment while bringing up the equation of great power and great responsibility.

Gunna, Future & Young Thug Collab: “Come On DS4”

While Future is beating the new Soundcloud records, Gunna announces the collab with him. Gunna, Future, and Young Thug are soon releasing the song together. Gunna made the announcement on his Instagram. He also wrote, “Come On #Ds4” in the caption.

The minute-long video features many people in the building, which looks like a house with a pool. Gunna also calls something “precise” and claims to be “straight-up precise with this shit.” The cover shows a night city and giant “DS4” letters with red borders in the middle.

A couple of years ago, the artist already released a collaboration. “Unicorn Purp” came out in 2019 on Future’s “The Wizrd” album.

SZA’s “I Hate You” Rockets to the Top of the Hot 100

Yesterday, December 13th, SZA’s single, “I Hate You” shot up the ranks of the Hot 100. The song finally came to rest at No. 7, nestled in between “Industry Baby,” and “Jingle Bell Rock.” This is the fifth time that SZA has broken into the Top 10. Previously, she ranked 9th in “What Lovers Do” with Maroon 5, 7th in “All The Stars” with Kendrick Lamar, and 3rd in “Kiss Me More” with Doja Cat. Only one of her other solo songs, “Good Days,” cracked the Top 10, coming in at 9th in February of 2021. This makes “I Hate You” her highest-debuting solo song to date, an extremely impressive feat.

To the Shock of SZA

SZA dropped “I Hate You” several months ago, but only in a limited capacity. Previously, FMHipHop covered the release of the song on SoundCloud and the overwhelmingly positive audience response. While this is an impressive accomplishment in itself, fans just would not let the song die. The buzz began about two weeks ago when fans finally convinced the artist to make her song available on more streaming services.

A Flood of Positivity

It seems no one is as surprised at the success of “I Hate You” as the author herself. The singer was hesitant to put the song on streaming at first, calling it just an “experiment.”

What followed was an outpouring of positive attention, resulting in a meteoric rise through the various streaming services.

Fans from across various platforms spread encouragement and gave positive feedback to the artist. The song had so many streams on December 3 that it shot to the top of the Apple Spotify charts.

Congratulations to SZA and her ludicrous, if unanticipated success. Fans playfully mocked her for the initial limited release of the song. However, the artist seems willing to listen to the feedback, and excited to give her fans more of what they clearly want.

Hopefully, we’ll get to see more hits like “I Hate You” in the future.

SiriusXM Collab’s with SoundCloud for September

It is a great month for Hip-Hop! SiriusXM has collaborated with SoundCloud to launch SoundCloud Radio. This hip hop channel will be airing through Sept.30. The exclusive channel will air top songs from musical artists that got their start on SoundCloud. The channel will also shed light on new music, specifically by those getting their start on SoundCloud. Some popular artists that started on SoundCloud are: Doja Cat, Kehlani, Post Malone, 21 Savage, DJ Khaled and the hot girl herself Megan Thee Stallion, just to name a few.

Money Moves in this Collaboration

President of SoundCloud, Michael Weissman tells Cheddar Now “SiriusXM Holdings Inc. invested $75 million in audio platform last year”. I wonder how much some of our favorite artists will profit off of this? I don’t have the answers Sway! (In my Kanye West voice).

SoundCloud History Lesson

Those of you that know about SoundCloud might not know the whole story. SoundCloud was founded in Stockholm, Sweden, in August 2007.  The company built an online audio platform so people that worked with music would be able to receive, send, and distribute their music. In 2014, SoundCloud received their first label deal with Warner and two years later sealed the deal with Merlin, Universal and Sony.  SoundCloud, a non-discriminatory platform, allows any and everyone to upload music! . FYI, SoundCloud dropped $15 million to help artists during the 2020 Pandemic.

Be on the Lookout!

Starting Sept.8 and ending Sept. 17, SoundCloud Radio will be available on the SXM mobile app and online. The station will be available via satellite and for everyday drivers, on SiriusXM channel 105. SoundCloud will be airing music from upcoming hip-hop acts such as, Fase Yoda, Lil Tecca, Rico Nasty and so much more!  R. Caiaffa, interim head of music at SoundCloud, said “The influence of SoundCloud’s young, diverse community of artists and fans in breaking music is unmatched and SoundCloud Radio is one more way to share their influence and incredible talent with even more fans”.

SZA SoundCloud Frenzy Has Twitter Fans Wanting More!

Smooth songstress SZA anonymously released three songs on SoundCloud that sent Twitter into a frenzy.

The song “Joni” is like a mysteriously sexy song. In verse two she sings: “Make it bounce baby/ Do a little more/ I’ve been wiped out like three times/ Beat that sh##/Call me nine lives”.

“I Hate You” is one of her signature broken relationship classics. She says in the second verse: “Used to be solid/Til you scrambled me/ Used to be your rider, you mishandled me.” To her female fans, there goes your fall healing heart break song.

In the last song, “Night Bird”, the chorus proclaims: “Stay the night/ Only got you for a short time/Going through a hard time/ Hoping you can carry my demons part time.”

Twitter Fans Went Crazy

This is a song that SZA’s male and female fans can find relatable.  Could it be a one night stand or two lovers whom belong to others?

SZA’s Twitter fans had a ball with these songs. For many, it is what they’ve been waiting for.

SZA is a cool soul that is still self aware, educated yet grounded. She brought that heat to the SoundCloud Streets! She is a whole vibe in this Rolling Stone clip:

Is a New Album in the Works?

Her latest album, Good Days came about thanks to the pandemic. It was SZA’s personal, creative mantra for her mental health.

Also, the album hit the top charts on Billboard in 2020.

“I tell the truth through music. Other people tend to catch on and agree with my truth and it turns out we are all really similar”, SZA famously said.

Well, I am sure fans are eager to hear the pain and pleasure the pandemic brought SZA. To read about her recent time in the studio, click here.
