Barbie Movie: Female Hip-Hop & Rap Influence On Soundtrack

The Barbie trend has taken the world by storm in the past month. It was “Barbie’s” movie premiere day on Jul. 21, 2023.

The film will possibly be a huge staple in this decade of movies. The album was also released yesterday, with some female rappers blessing the “Barbie” soundtrack. The influence of female Hip-Hop & Rap is present in the movie’s album.

Female Rap & Hip-Hop Influence On “Barbie: The Album”

The first song on the album is “Pink” by Lizzo, the third track is “Barbie World (With Aqua)” by Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice, the fifth track is “WATATI” by singer Karol G – who is known as a Latin trap artist – and concluding the album is “Barbie Dreams” by FIFTY FIFTY featuring Kaliii.

The biggest stand-out is that Nicki Minaj, also known as The Barbie, finally did a sample of “Barbie Girl” by Aqua. The influence of female rap & Hip-Hop surrounds this album from beginning to end. It is a perfect blend for the movie, which is focused on feminism.

Lizzo’s Change Of Lyrics In The Film

The first “Barbie” scene plays the movie soundtrack’s Lizzo’s song “Pink” but with a twist. You hear her track begin, but the words change from the original lyrics, as she is almost narrating the scene.

In her beautiful Lizzo way, she even makes sure stereotypical Barbie, Margot Robbie’s character, is okay when she falls on the floor. It set the tone for the satire.

Review Of The Film

I recommend this film to anyone; it is truly for people who love Barbie and people who hate Barbie.

The music compliments the film in all ways. This movie makes you want to laugh, touches your heart, and makes you slightly angry at the world. Casting for the film was Chef’s Kiss from stereotypical Barbie Margot Robbie to Madame President Issa Rae; each character completed their assignment with flying colors.

The Australian actress was the main character, but the supporting characters made this film what it is. Ryan Gosling as Ken was phenomenal in complimenting Robbie’s character arc. The movie will take you on an amazing journey.
