“REALLY HER” by BIA: EP Review

BIA has released her new EP, “REALLY HER,” and this is a review of her latest piece of work.

“BIG BUSINESS”

The first song, “BIG BUSINESS,” is your classic BIA-esque track. You can hear her flexing on her haters with her calm demeanor through the bars. The beat has Timbaland’s magic on it, which was created by the legendary producer and SkipOnDaBeat. It’s a great opening to this EP. The title of the first song compliments the name of the album, “REALLY HER,” because the Massachusetts rapper means business.

“MILLIONS”

The “Whole Lotta Money” rapper teased “MILLIONS” for a while on social media, and it was expected to be heated.

Furthermore, NeNe Leakes opens the song with one of her famous lines on the Real Housewives franchise. The TV personality led us into this track with the right vibe for BIA’s lyrics that were later presented, like, “Business as usual. Usually, I wouldn’t smile ‘less It cost a couple thousands and millions… Every time he Zelle me, that’s phone sex, hello?”

It’s a fun song for the girlies who are about their bag.

“DON’T TELL” (Featuring Juicy J)

The mood changes slightly with “DON’T TELL” featuring Juicy J. This track gives us a song to twerk (obviously because the iconic Memphis rapper is on it), and I love that for BIA, also known as Bianca Landrau. It is not her usual style of music, but it shows that she is interested in trying new sounds sometimes.

“CLASSY” (Featuring Swizz Beatz)

CLASSY” caught me off guard because she stepped out of her box again with this slight pop beat layered under the song. I wish this song was longer. I think it was way too short for the way she walks on the beat. The fourth track on the EP almost has a 90s feel to it as well as she effortlessly spits over the beat.

“FOUR SEASONS”

This is my favorite song on the EP. I love when a song contains different beats throughout the track, but it’s truly beautiful when it is done right. The transition from this song into “OH NO” was straight heat. It was so super smooth flow that I thought it was one song until I looked down at my phone.

“OH NO”

This song made me realize that not one tune on this EP sounded like the other. You can tell BIA put effort into the order of this piece of work. I was not crazy about her lyrics on this track, but the sampled beat saved everything. The producer found a way to blend BIA’s lyrics, voice, and beat into a melody of greatness.

“LONDON” (With J. Cole) + “I’M THAT B**CH” (With Timbaland)

These two tracks were the only songs we heard before the EP was released. I loved both, but critics felt BIA could not keep up with J. Cole on “LONDON.” However, this is Jermaine we are discussing, and most rappers that have been in the industry for years are not on Cole’s level. I respect BIA for making a track with such a legendary artist and still having fun on it.

“I’M THAT B**CH” was a different style for BIA, but I thought it was a pleasant surprise. I like that she tests her limits, and if there would be anyone to do that with, it is only right that it was Timbaland.

“FALLBACK”

I’m not fully on board with this track, and I don’t think it should have been towards the end of the EP. I love that the end was “I’M THAT BITCH” and placing “FALLBACK” right before that was not the best choice. The eighth track is not very memorable, but it’s a nice little vibe. If you have been a fan of BIA for a long time, this song just feels like a very BIA song.

“Really Her” Rating

Overall this EP was refreshing and did a great job of not sounding like anything that is out right now. The main critique I have is how short the songs are, but Landrau is always ready for a new challenge yet perfects not losing her style.

I have been a fan of Bianca since her days on Oxygen’s Sisterhood of Hip-Hop. It’s amazing to see her flourishing in the music industry, and this EP shows that we haven’t seen everything from BIA yet. She has more tricks up her sleeves.

My grade is a B+ for “REALLY HER.”

Female Hip-Hop Rappers Such As Coi Leray, BIA, and Missy Elliot Release Lit Tracks

Female hip-hop rappers are giving everyone straight fire lately.

The collabs are hot, the beats are hotter, and the bars catch fire in every speaker you hear.

Hip-hop girlies Coi LerayBIABaby TateSaweetieFlo MilliLola BrookeLattoYung Miami, and Missy Elliot are the gifts that keep on giving.

Each track had a different vibe and interesting collaboration, but it worked elegantly.

Coi Leray’s “On Player (Remix)” And “Nonsense (Remix)”

Starting with Coi Leray, she dropped two remixes in the past 48 hours, with one of hip-hop’s finest Busta Rhymes and the other with popstar Sabrina Carpenter.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Big Trend Setter (@coileray)

Two completely different artists, but Coi is such a ‘trendsetter’ and popstar that she can pull off the legendary “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” backtrack under her song “Players.”

However, “Nonsense (Remix)” with Sabrina Carpenter was an exciting breath of fresh air that was still Coi with a cute pop twist.

I tip my hat to the Boston native.

BIA And Timbaland’s “I’M THAT B**TCH”

Then we get into BIA

Bianca Miquela Landrau always delivers. She took on the daring beat of Missy Elliot and Timbaland’s “She’s a B**ch” for her version “I’M THAT B**TCH.”

A post shared by BIA ✍🏽 (@bia)

She really got a co-sign when Missy Elliot congratulated her on the legend’s Instagram story.

Plus, Timbaland helped her make the track. I think that is the biggest co-sign you could get.

It’s a riveting take on the original song, meeting the present sample with an almost drill beat underneath BIA‘s lyrics.

Baby Tate And Saweetie’s “Hey Mickey!”

Next, Baby Tate and Saweetie‘s “Hey Mickey!” gives us the cute baddie vibe they both exude.

A pop song that turned into a fused pop and hip-hop version.

The Atlanta native always has fun with any of her releases, so it was only right that she paired with Saweetie.

The California native born as Diamonté changed her flow up a little with Tate.

It was a nice little shock and made me proud to hear the ‘Icy Girl’ give us something different.

Flo Milli’s “Bed Time (Remix)” With Monaleo And Gloss Up

Furthermore, Flo Milli teamed up with newer mainstream female rappers Monaleo and Gloss Up.

Three of them remixed Flo’s single off her latest album, “Bed Time.”

The lyrics were givin’ ‘I’m going to have my girls’ backs whenever and wherever.’

Monaleo and Gloss Up’s voices and lyrics complement Flo Milli’s cutesy voice pretty well.

Lola Brooke’s “Don’t Play With It” With Latto and Yung Miami

In addition, Lola Brooke’s “Don’t Play With It” is TikTok viral. The New York rapper was the bombshell the industry needed.

So, of course, Latto and Yung Miami had to hop on the train. These two are in the group of some of the hottest female rappers.

It is a great look for Lola Brooke.

Latto and Yung Miami sound like they had fun on this track. Caresha even trolls her fans about Diddy in her verse.

FLO With Missy Elliot’s Fly Girl

Finally, we have Hip-Hop royalty who is the legendary Missy Elliot. FLO is a new girl group from the UK that probably has the potential to be the next Destiny’s Child.

It was smart for them to get Missy on “Fly Girl” because the chorus comes from the Virginia native’s hit “Work It.”

Hearing Missy Elliot rapping again slapped a smile on my face. No one has a flow like her, and her voice just takes me back to the early 2000s.

The females continue to take the industry by storm, and I hope they keep us all on the edge of our seats.

PnB Rock, whose real name is Rakim Hasheem Allen, was shot and killed during a robbery that took place in a Los Angeles restaurant, Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles. The 30-year-old was out having brunch with his girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, when she happened to post an Instagram story that revealed the couple’s location.

As celebrities and fans mourn PnB, they also weigh in on his girlfriend’s role in events

According to HipHop DX, the queen of rap, Nicki Minaj, took to twitter to express her sadness and frustration. In the tweets she grieves, “After Pop Smoke there’s no way we as rappers or our loved ones are still posting locations to our whereabouts. To show waffles & some fried chicken????! He was such a pleasure to work with. Condolences to his mom & family. This makes me feel so sick. Jesus. #SIP #PnbRock.”

Nicki Minaj cautions the family and friends of today’s rappers

Minaj continued to clap back at all who feel she is overreacting about Stephanie posting their location. Nicki says, “The ppl around these rappers gain so much. It’s time to start really reminding them over & over!!! At least TRY to put your foot down if you CARE! Tell them!!! You’re not loved like you think you are!!! You’re prey!!!! In a world full of predators!!!! What’s not clicking???!!!” Minaj continues her reply to a fan, thanking her and saying, “Yup. Ima say what I want. As a RAPPER & as a MOTHER. I know 1st hand how these guys feel coming from the streets then being able to provide for their moms. My heart is hurting for the MOTHERS OF THESE KIDS that tried to make something better of their lives!!! LETS EDUCATE ASAP!!!”

As Nicki continues to speak out in an attempt to help save lives, other rappers like Quavo, BIA, Asian Doll and more send there love. Cardi B however made it known that she had a different outlook than the “Super Freaky Girl” artist. She tweeted, “I highly doubt nikkas was looking at PNB’s babymom IG. He was in a bad location and people stay outside plotting. It’s very irresponsible and inconsiderate to blame her for something so tragic. We should be sending nothing but love to her and his family at this time.”

Dj Akademiks even chimed in to say everyone is out to blame everyone but the person who actually killed him. He said, “Everything else is extra.”

“Love In the Way” follows Nicki’s hit track “Super Freaky Girl,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in August. The song earned Minaj her first solo No. 1 hit song. She previously topped the Hot 100 with her appearances on the remix to Doja Cat’s “Say So,” as well as “Trollz” with 6ix9ine.

Recently, Nicki also released the “Super Freaky Girl (Queen Mix),” a new cut of the song filled with collaborations. The lineup includes JT and BIA, as well as Malibu Mitch, Katie Got Bandz and Akbar V. BIA Shares Her Thoughts on J. Cole’s ‘London’ Verse

BIA shared her reaction to hearing J. Cole’s verse on her newest hit single “London.” The Medford, Massachusetts native has been on the rise since her appearance on the TV show Sisterhood of Hip Hop.

While on the red carpet at the 2022 BET Awards, BIA opened up on her reaction to hearing J. Cole’s bars on the hit single for the first time. The song sees both BIA and Cole adopt British accents, with Cole’s being prominent in his verse.

“I lost it because, Cole, really every single bar is so crazy. Crazier than the last one,” she explained. She also praised Cole for his ability to rap in a British accent. “First of all, who rhymes that good, in an accent? I thought I was going to be the only one doing the accent, but he did the accent. So, he killed it.” BIA capped off her feelings by saying how it was “an honor to have him [J.Cole] on the song.”

While in London for a guest appearance at the 2022 Wireless Festival on Saturday, J. Cole brought out BIA for a surprise performance of their hit collaboration. BIA expressed her love for the city afterwards on social media.

“London” dropped on April 8th of this year. The track peaked at 62 on the Billboard Hot 100, but reached as high as 20 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

The history of BIA

BIA released her first project, Nice Girls Finish Last: Cuidado in 2018 while signed with RCA. In 2019, she split from the label due to not being able to release her music. Later that year, she collabed with Russ on “Best On Earth,” which became popular on social media. The song was eventually certified Platinum by the RIAA, peaking at 46 on the Hot 100.

BIA signed to Epic Records in 2020, dropping her second EP For Certain in December. The project contained the hot track “Whole Lotta Money,” which ended up being remixed by Nicki Minaj. “Whole Lotta Money” peaked at no. 6 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart while landing at 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also received a Platinum certification.

YG And Tyga Dress Up As “White Chicks” In “Run” Music Video

This year we are entering a new era within the rap and hip-hop culture. YG and Tyga dressed up as “white chicks” in a new video teased for  YG’s single “Run” featuring Tyga, 21 savage, and Bia.

On Wednesday, June 22nd, YG took to his Instagram to tease the new music video to his song “Run”

In the video, YG is driving in a bright red Porsche busting out some moves as Tyga rides passenger. The only odd part about the clip was that YG and Tyga didn’t look like YG and Tyga. The two rappers were seen covered in White Chicks-style makeup, wearing all-black bumping to YG’s new track. Many fans believe the rappers were portraying Kim and Khloe Kardashian. YG as Khloe and Tyga as Kim as YG shouts, “Calabasas forever!” which happens to be the Kardashian’s hometown.

The clip sparked many opinions from fans as well as Shawn and Marlon Wayans from the 2004 comedy film, White Chicks. Twitter seems to find the short clip hysterical. One user @nniicoleeee tweeted“not me looking for tyga and yg and they the mfs inna car.” Another fan @KPkonfidential said, “boy YG & Tyga washed as fuck. tf are they doing?!”

https://twitter.com/KPkonfidential/status/1539725006749331456

According to Hip-Hop DX, back in February YG announced his forthcoming sixth record, Pray For Me by dropping off his “Scared Money” single with J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo. His single “Run” will hit streaming services on Friday, June 24th. It will most likely appear on the album as well.

In an interview with Power 106, YG discusses how he chooses his features.

“When I do the features I be doing, it’s always who would be unexpected or who I ain’t work with yet or who is really gonna do the record justice lyrically with bars… The music is just gonna be my truth, as far as my life right now… It’s just the growth of me, my headspace, what I’m on in life.”

J Cole gives BIA her flowers, “I was blown away”

A co-sign from J. Cole is quite the accomplishment. Currently, It’s an accomplishment BIA can proudly brag on.

Cole Sings Her Praises

BIA is taking in love from industry legends. Following her hit “Whole Lotta Money” featuring Nicki Minaj, she dropped “London” on April 8. The brand new also features seasoned chart-topper J. Cole.

Upon the song’s release, Cole took to Instagram to share his excitement.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Cole (@realcoleworld)

“I Asked BIA to come through the studio for some whole other shit. First time meeting her. We chop it up,” Cole typed. “She plays me this new song she had just did. Mannnnnnn…She hit me recently and sent me the song (she musta knew I wanted to hear it again!!!) and I was just grateful to have it in my possession.”

Regardless of J. Cole’s high stature within the industry, he was apparently still anxious when recording his verse.

“I was excited but genuinely nervous cuz I didn’t even see how the song could be better after what she did to it,” he explained. “I didn’t want to fuck nothing up! I’m grateful I Ended up catching the right wave.”

He ended the caption by thanking BIA.

What To Expect From BIA’s “London”

“London” is a track produced by AzizTheShake, Jon Glass, and Tim with a booming presence and also a meticulous beat. Both BIA and Cole employ a British accent to compliment the name of the song. Remarkably, the “KOD” album rapper references several UK cultural staples.

“Splendid, got no limits, should have a tank on my pendant/Blokes goin’ broke tryna keep up with Cole, but I make it back soon as I spend it/Maybach tinted, ‘Excuse me sir, but ain’t that rented?”

BIA, of course, is no pushover. The 30-year-old rapper makes sure to hold her own.

“Louis Vuitton Cover My Toes/Throw On My Trousers, Look At My Bricks/These Are My Tennis, Look At My Shoes/Cream Hot Sauce In Sandals, Man’s Outside In Crocs, In Shambles (Damn)”

The stirring BIA’s and J Cole’s music video was filmed in several locations within the UK, including Shoreditch. The “For Certain” album emcee also namedropped the small district in the second verse.

“Maybe You Can’t Afford It/I’m With My Dawgs And We Out In Shoreditch (Shoreditch, Shoreditch, Shoreditch).”

Daps, the “London” music video director, has also worked with artists like The Migos, 2 Chainz, and Kendrick Lamar. From an impressive director to an even more remarkable guests artist, this Medford powerhouse is making 2022 her year.

BIA and Bad Gal RiRi

With J Cole and Nicki Minaj on her side, BIA is clearly here to stay. In addition to those accolades, Rihanna has also given the Massachusetts rapper some props. The Barbadian icon first acknowledged BIA back in 2019 when she collaborated with East Coast rapper Russ on “Best On Earth.”

“thank you @bia and @russ for my new fav song #BestOnEarth,” she typed in an Instagram caption. A steamy video of Rih accompanied the kind words.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by badgalriri (@badgalriri)

BIA then responded ecstatically at the pop legend singing her praises as anyone would. “WTF IS LIFE” she typed.

Rih’s video was only one entry in the #bestonearthchallenge, a viral trend that took off with the help of Bia and Russ’ song. Big influencers like Brittanya Ravazi and Katya Elise Henry also participated in the challenge. This helped the track skyrocket in popularity, then making it BIA’s first Billboard Hot 100 entry.

Indeed, BIA has done the work to become a superstar. This Puerto Rican princess is quickly on her way to leading the female rap pack along with Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion.

BIA’s “Whole Lotta Money” Inspires Run on Heel’s

BIA is not only making hits. She is making markets move.

In recent headlines, certain shops are linking their reduction in Bottega Veneta heels to BIA’s song “Whole Lotta Money.”

Although the song has been out since December of 2020, it recently blew up again.

According to sources, the song originally gained its viral status through Tik Tok. “Whole Lotta Money exploded on the app, with close to 280,000 videos,” Harper’s Bazaar contributor Eric Gonzales wrote. Then Nicki Minaj jumped on the track. “Months later a remix featuring Nikki Minaj made it even bigger,” the writing team at Gonetrending.com noted. In fact, the track inspired so much hype that there was a run on the luxury brand of heels in some shops.

Going viral in the fashion world surprised BIA

BIA was not exactly expecting the release to go viral. “I stopped having expectations, because I’ve been making music for a long time, and I’ve realized that I want the best for my music,” she said in an interview. But she’s not exactly upset with the outcome. Indeed she was pleasantly surprised when she went to buy her own pair of Bottega Venetas and they were sold out, according to a Tweet.

For BIA music is a passion and calling

BIA sat down to talk about her music and her growth as an artist in a 2020 interview with LADYGUNN  before the release of her extended play “For Certain,” which features “Whole Lotta Money.” BIA was quick to refer to her artistry as a calling, or rather, her purpose. “I’m speaking my truth and I’m living in my purpose and that’s what I’m certain about,” she said. BIA is receiving big buy-in from her fans. Surely all of this is making BIA a “whole lotta money” and sending her smiling right to the bank. But I guess you can say she called it:

“Fendi on my body, but my feet is in Bottega
B****, I’m getting money…”

And if you are wondering, the answer is yes

The Bodega is a regular go-to for BIA. “On the corner, right next to my dad’s house was a Bodega,” she said. “So I’ve always been going to bodegas. Oh, yeah. I wear my jewellery every day.”

But there is no need to worry. Stores are restocking if you want to rock Bottega Venetas like BIA.
