YK Osiris Thanks Fans After Concerning Instagram Live And Gets Support From Big Sean

YK Osiris worried fans when he went live on Instagram October 16, and expressed diappointment in the way his career is going. He explained he was experiencing suicidal thoughts. Friends and fans reached out to support him. In a video, the smiling rapper assured everyone he was doing better. He said he might not have many friends in the industry, but knowing that people out there still love him, really helps. “Check on your people. Check on your moms, sisters. I don’t care if you mad…people need love, man.

On a list of Osiris’ supporters, is Big Sean. He reached out to the rapper after YK posted his update. Big Sean being  an advocate for mental health makes sense given his own struggle. While making the album Detroit 2,  he opened up about his own journey. Under Osiris’ post the rapper left some advice in the comments.

When you your own source of happiness n love then any love you get is just extra on top (which is beautiful) and any love you dont get, you’re still you and un affected, or at least not as affected by conditional circumstances or how others feel about you. Just leaving that here for others as well. Glad you feeling better though bro. God got you.

Is This Symptom Of A Bigger Mental Health Crisis?

People often attribute depression to a chemical imbalance or personal circumstance, but the social reasons matter as much. Race plays a part when it comes to how Black people, and in this carse Black men, navigate this world.

According to the National Allaince on Mental Illness, “Black adults in the U.S. are more likely than white adults to report persistent symptoms of emotional distress, such as sadness and feeling like everything is an effort.” And given that a common theme in a many hip-hop track revolves around hardships related to poverty and public scrutiny. While YK Osiris may not have the same plight as the average person, the level of hoplessness and isolation is the same, famous or not.

Rappers Shine A Light On A Difficult Topic

When Megan Thee Stallion put out her single “Anxiety,” that was enough for a lot of young black people to feel seen. Of course she took it a step further by starting a website “Bad Bitches Have Bad Days Too.” However, Meg is not the only person in hip-hop advocating for mental health care. From Jay-Z to Mary J, all have songs that touch on depression, grief, and substance abuse.

YK Osiris isn’t the only rapper to go through this, and he won’t be the last considering the demands of the modern music world. However, by being vulnerable with fans, he has kept the door open for the conversation on mental health to continue.

Megan Thee Stallion and Big Sean Facing Lawsuits For “Go Crazy” Copyright Infringement

Back in 2020, Megan Thee Stallion dropped “Go Crazy” featuring Big Sean and 2 Chainz off her Good News album. Recently, two Detroit artists came forward to say the rappers stole their record to create the song.

According to Hot New Hip-Hop, Big Sean and 2 Chainz were featured in Meg’s song “Go Crazy.” The track was reportedly stolen and may result in a heavy lawsuit. Duawn Payne whose stage name is Go Hard Major, and Harrell James who goes by H Matic, claim the single was copied off one of their earlier songs. The source reports that Megan and Sean were both sued along with 1501 Certified Entertainment, and Universal Music. Payne and James accused the song makers of stealing their song “Krazy.” Reports claim the track was made in 2012 and was released on ReverbNation.

The pair stated at the time they used to perform in their city and give out CDs of their music. Big Sean also happens to be from Detroit causing the two to believe he may have stumbled across their music. The lawsuit reportedly reads,

“The Copyrighted Work is an original work of authorship and is particularly unique as a result of its catchy chorus—or hook—the centerpiece of the Copyrighted Work.”

“The sale of thousands of physical copies of CDs featuring the Copyrighted Work on the streets of West Detroit and the parking lots of hip hop clubs in West Detroit frequented by [Big Sean] provide further access of the Copyrighted Work to Defendants. Upon release, the Infringing Work sold reportedly 100,500 units for the first week of its release. Since the debut, the Infringing Work has reportedly gone platinum, meaning more than one million copies have been sold.”

Although it is unclear what Payne and James are seeking in damages from this case, the two reportedly sent both Megan and Sean cease and desist letters, however, there was no response.

Big Sean Pays Respects to Buffalo Mass Shooting Victims

See how a bighearted Big Sean is offering some positivity in the face of the unspeakable tragedy in New York.

Big Sean shows support

Detroit star Big Sean has paid a visit to the Tops supermarket in Buffalo, New York which was the location of a senseless mass shooting in May. The incident took 10 lives, all of them being black men and women.

The ‘Big Bank’ rapper posted a series of photos on Instagram this week showing the market memorial site. The parking lot section of Tops is currently packed with bouquets, notes, and other tokens from the grieving community. Coincidentally, Big Sean’s tribute falls on the same day as the supermarket reopening. Before last week, (Jul 15) Tops shut its doors indefinitely in wake of the shooting. Now, it’s time for Buffalo to begin a slow path of healing.

“Exactly 2 months after the massacre, Tops is back open, stronger than ever n ready for business,” Sean typed in his caption. In addition to this sweet sentiment, he commented under his own post “Prayers up for da world.”

One of the images in Big Sean’s photo set is a poster displaying the Tops management team. The sign reads: “we promise to be your friendly neighborhood store that has what you want while saving you time and money” in addition to this, it features the faces of all six managers proudly smiling. To honor the victims and acknowledge Thursday’s reopening, company leaders, management, and local citizens of Buffalo said a prayer and had a moment of silence.

Tops Prayer

Another image in Big Sean’s tribute is a large plaque dedicated to the 10 victims. “May this memorial stand as a loving tribute to those who lost their lives on May 14th 2022.” It reads.

The message continues, “Let the hopeful healing waters flow//Ushering in a rebirth of our sense of self//Let the flowing waters remind us of time// Current yet fleeting like life itself// Large yet within reach just as the ancestors.”

“Let the hopeful healing waters flow//Cleansing all pain and fear//All hurt and regret//Let the water heal our people//Reminding us that even our small marks on this huge world are necessary.”

“Let the hopeful healing waters flow//Let the water tell the stories of those that came before us//Those who fought and believed for us//Those with the strength and power of a high tide//Those with the meekness of a still pond/ Let the beauty of the unknown offer comfort and hope/ For within water there will always be life.”

Currently, the shooter Payton Gendron is pleading not guilty to federal hate crime charges. Gendron, who live streamed the event on Twitch, could potentially receive the death penalty if found guilty. While an official decision on capital punishment still hasn’t been made,  progress has been made in getting the victims justice. Gendron was indicted on all 27 counts last week.

If you’re interested in helping out the community, You can donate to the Buffalo 5/14 Survivors Fund on nationalcompassion.org. All proceeds go directly towards victims and survivors.

Future On Becoming The First Soundcloud Artist With 10M Followers: “Thank U”

Future Hendrix is the first artist off to reach 10 million followers on Soundcloud. The artist left Big Sean and Young Money behind with their 9.5M and 8.47M followers. Hendrix also shared the achievement on Instagram and thanked the fans with sincere words and emojis.

Future Is The First Soundcloud Artist With 10M Followers
Future’s social media response to the exciting news. Image source: Future’s re-post of an Instagram story.

Future didn’t post any songs on his Soundcloud account for the past thirteen months. Regardless, Hendrix’s achievement doesn’t look very surprising.

After all, the artist was one of the Soundcloud pioneers. Future’s audience could not listen to the artist’s older albums anywhere but Soundcloud for a while. The artist also started publishing tracks on the social network long before Soundcloud rap emerged in 2015-2016.

The Biggest Future’s Soundcloud Trap-Hit

The most popular Future’s song on Soundcloud is “Trap N***as” from the “DS2” album. The composition now has 96.5 million streams.

Future’s Soundcloud-famous song also has a commentary to it. Available in the premium version on Soundcloud and for free on YouTube, it’s a minute-long speech. Hendrix talks about the own trap-anointment while bringing up the equation of great power and great responsibility.

Gunna, Future & Young Thug Collab: “Come On DS4”

While Future is beating the new Soundcloud records, Gunna announces the collab with him. Gunna, Future, and Young Thug are soon releasing the song together. Gunna made the announcement on his Instagram. He also wrote, “Come On #Ds4” in the caption.

The minute-long video features many people in the building, which looks like a house with a pool. Gunna also calls something “precise” and claims to be “straight-up precise with this shit.” The cover shows a night city and giant “DS4” letters with red borders in the middle.

A couple of years ago, the artist already released a collaboration. “Unicorn Purp” came out in 2019 on Future’s “The Wizrd” album.

Big Sean Almost Landed Role in 50 Cent’s New Tv Series

50 Cent has been pumping out television series like crazy over the last several years. Despite COVID complications, the NY rapper has appear frequently on high rated shows, such as Power. Somehow, he also found the time to create shows of his own, most notably BMF. In an interview with TV Line released yesterday, Big Sean revealed that he was almost cast in one of 50 Cent’s shows. Currently, Big Sean is preparing for the premier of the season finale of Twenties.

TV Line Interviews Big Sean

Although Big Sean has dabble in television, Twenties is a marked step in his career. It is the first live-action fictional role he has ever had.

A post shared by TWENTIES (@twentiesonbet)

In response, TV Line interviewed Big Sean to ask him about his plans for the future. Evidently, he has no intentions of quitting showbiz any time soon. The rapper, or rather actor seems enthralled by the process.

“It’s a different experience, for sure. A lot of doing it over and over again and hoping that they use the right take. There’s a lot of things you’re thinking about like, ‘Dang, I really like how I did it this way, and they might not use it because it [doesn’t] fit the director’s vision.’ It’s a different game than music, but a lot of similarities, since you have to focus and apply yourself, and the product turns out the way it does.”

The interview took an emotional turn and began to discuss Big Sean’s inspirations and goals. The actor expresses sadness at the loss of visionaries within the black community and wants to make the most of his time.

“We’ve been losing a lot of close people. We’ve been losing a lot of visionaries, a lot of peers, a lot of artists. You really realize how valuable your time is, so I’ve been like, ‘Man, I have to do all these things I’ve always wanted to do.’ I want to write a book. I want to musically explore other things. I want to take it to different levels. I want to write movies. Time is so not guaranteed. You just have to do it.”

A Powerful Pairing

This is the first we at FMHipHop have heard about a possible collaboration between Fiddy and Big Sean on the big screen. And can I say, man do we really want that now! The artists have done tremendous work individually; it would be inspiring to see what they could create when they collaborate.

https://youtu.be/jcp2KpgElRI

It doesn’t appear that the role fell through due to incompatibility between the two stars. Rather, both have so much on hands that it just wasn’t possible to find a common timeframe.

“I was actually supposed to do something with 50 [Cent], but it didn’t line up schedule-wise,” [Big Sean] shares. “But those are great people. [BMF] is one of my favorites right now. I love the Power universe — Raising Kanan and all of that. It’s fire.”

Hopefully, we can take this as a teaser for something to come in the future!

Big Sean Roasted After His Halftime Performance At Detroit Game

There’s absolutely nothing like a good roast. But I guess that would only apply when you’re not the butt of the jokes. Poor guy! Social media wasted no time clowning the rapper after his halftime performance at the Detroit Lions game. Big Sean was roasted, yes, on Thanksgiving Day. He performed his 2017 single “Bigger Than Me” for what appeared to be a crowd that gave absolutely zero f**ks.

Big Sean Roasted and Trolled With Memes

The fact that the Lions lost yet another game could have contributed to the low vibrations of the crowd. Fans were in no mood for performance other than the one they probably wished the Lions would have put on while on the field. However, that didn’t stop Big Sean from trying to liven things up a bit. During his performance, you couldn’t help but notice how disconnected the crowd was. Social media saw it too and immediately took to Twitter to roast Sean for what appeared to have been a case of “when trying to hype the crowd goes wrong.” Take a look at some of the memes below.

Honored To Perform

Big Sean, who’s a Detroit Native, was honored to perform for his home team. Well, at least before the performance took place. Not sure how he’s feeling now because the rapper has not responded to his “Thanksgiving Roast. But initially, the rapper said, “I am honored to perform for my home team on such an important night. Monday Night Football and inspire change with such a much-needed message about supporting the Black community of the DMV. I want to show appreciation and flowers to those who supported me from the very beginning of my career.”

Better Luck Next Time

The Detroit Lions’ loss on Thanksgiving Day was added to the long list of losses accumulated throughout the team’s 91 years in the league. The Lions have only won four NFL championships, with the last being in 1957. They had only one single playoff game in 1991. They’re a bit overdue for a win, so hopefully, there will be one with their name on it soon. Better luck next time.

Big Sean And Hit Boy Talk Hardships Working With Ye

Big Sean and Hit-Boy discussed the difficult side of working with Kanye west were in a recent interview with Million Dollaz Worth Of Game.

The interview was released on November 14, although Big Sean confirmed the interview was recorded a month ago via Twitter. He made the clarification to avoid leading fans to think the comments were in response to Ye’s recent viral Drink Champs interview.

A post shared by Elliott Wilson (@elliottwilson)

In the interview, they talk about Ye’s perfectionism and how difficult it is to work alongside. Sean said he does not even celebrate featuring on a song with West until it is officially out. He has revealed that he was taken out of a Kanye song before, without even a phone call. There even has been times where a track just never dropped. Kanye’s hit “Clique” was an example Sean gave of cutting people off tracks. “With ‘Clique,’ I did that verse on the fly so there’s like eight other verses on there. After him and Hov met up, they cut everybody but they was like, ‘Leave Sean on there, he went too crazy with the hook.'”

“Kanye can be very hard to work it,” Big Sean admitted while Hit-Boy chimed in, “I thought you was gonna say that first.” “Kanye will have you re-do a verse 10 times and not use them,” Sean continued before Hit-Boy added, “[Kanye will have you] redo some drums 10 times.”

Ye Says That Signing Big Sean Was The Worst Thing He’s Ever Done

Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West is back in the news again, this time revealing how he feels about rapper Big Sean. During an episode of “Drink Champs” podcast, Ye expressed that Big Sean is the worst thing he’s ever done. “When I die, on my tombstone it’s gonna say I deserved to be here because I signed Big Sean!” Well damn!

Ye Tells Us Why He’s Really Mad

It appears as if Ye is still in his feelings about Big Sean not supporting him during his 2020 presidential run. “I know this man’s mama. I’ve changed this man’s family.” Singer/songwriter John Legend appears to be on Ye’s sh**t list as well. “Both John Legend and Big Sean, when I ran for office, got used quick by the Democrats to come at they boy that actually changed their life, and that’s some sellout sh**t, and I don’t rock with neither of them, and I need my apologies.”

Big Sean Responds To Ye’s Interview

Big Sean wasted absolutely no time responding to Ye’s remarks. He tweeted a picture of him and Ye together, saying that the two of them were just together, and that Ye had said none of the things to him, that he’d said during his interview. “Was just wit this man, he ain’t say none of that!!! And this was after the interview!”

More Deets on Ye’s Interview

Ye’s interview with “Drink Champs” Dj’s EFN and N.O.R.E was his first since the release of his latest album Donda. The conversation was quite interesting as he spoke about several other things including Verzuz, his beef with Drake, and also some of the things that he regrets. Watch full episode below.

Big Sean Drops New Single With Producer Hit-Boy: “What A Life”

Some rappers take their time. Dropping a new track at the right time can require expert timing. Sometimes, it comes down to who else is releasing what and when? Is it the right time of year? Is it ready? Maybe you’re a perfectionist, and the idea of time is just an afterthought compared to the desired quality. If you happen to be Big Sean, these previous questions do not apply to you. If you are Big Sean, be sure to ignore these concerns, and maybe just go for the new single instead:

Sean’s New single And Overall Swarm

Good for Big Sean. He’s certainly having fun on his new track, “What A Life.” With the aptly named Hit-Boy, Sean delivers some incredibly precise, well-timed flows on this new single. It’s great when you’re backed up by the producer of “Ni**as in Paris,” “Trophies,” and, of course, the Grammy-winning “Racks in the Middle.”

Overall, it’s an examination of where he’s come and where he’s going. He delivers lines like:

Only get one life, swear I almost died twice
I went triple platinum more than three times, what a life, man (Life)
Feel like God went and blessed me with the trick dice

Sean ends the chorus with the memorable:

Go ahead then, tell me what your price is
Mine’s is a hundred B’s, nigga, you can’t swipe this (Bitch)

Speaking of B’s, the music video is worth checking out. Suffice it to say that the video is…experimental. While it’s got your typical video goodies like Sean performing to screaming fans, rapping on rooftops, and the odd floating-above-the-city trick, it’s got something else. Remember that line about bees?

What other rappers do you know that can sit in a high-back leather chair covered in honeymakers? At the time of writing this, it appears that Sean also got off without too many stings. In fact, he hasn’t said anything about stinging. Proof enough that his price, while high, doesn’t do him any harm.

Check out the video below. Remember, if you’re calm and don’t bother them, the bees won’t sting.
