Afroman’s Home Invasion Featured In His Music Videos

The classic “Because I Got High” rapper has done it again. Afroman has molded his personal experience and musical talent into two new songs.

“Will You Help Me Repair My Door” and “Lemon-Pound Cake” features Ohio’s Adams County Sheriff’s department which is going viral via TikTok.

In August of 2022, Joseph Foreman, also known as Afroman, was away in Chicago when the Adams County Sheriff’s department raided the rapper’s property. The sheriff’s department had a search warrant that a local judge signed for drug trafficking and kidnapping.

Foreman tells VICE he can understand drug trafficking, but has no idea about the kidnapping charges, “I guess they heard I was trafficking drugs. I don’t know where the kidnapping charges came from. And what they wanted to do was kill me and then make up whatever they wanted to say.”

During this invasion, deputies are seen breaking down doors, barging in with AR-15 rifles, and rummaging through his personal belongings. His children were home during this raid and found that a portion of his hard-earned money from a gig was missing.

The end result of the raid left not only left Afroman appalled but questionable, “Why are you stealing my money?” he asks, adding, “You represent the law and it’s funny. You’re stealing my legal-worked-hard-everyday-paid-taxes money.”

In Afroman’s new release, “Will You Help Me Repair My Door”, officers are seen ransacking the property and taking cash. The search goes beyond the extent of moving into another room full of CDs.

The Adams County Sheriff dept. has a warrant solely for narcotics and kidnapping, yet they seized the room of CDs.

“ Any kidnapping victims inside my CDs,” he tells VICE.

The Raided Result

Police confiscated a jar of CBD flower, some roaches, and a vape pen. They also took about $5,600 in cash from one of Foreman’s suit pockets which was a payment for a past gig.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Foreman’s money is returned but is short $400. Under this circumstance, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation will be handling the issue of the missing cash.

As the singer awaits the return of his belonging there are no charges filed toward Foreman or the sheriff’s department.

The narcotics found and seized are currently being tested. In Ohio, the law indicates that medical cannabis is legal, but only in small amounts for adult-use only.

The cannabis must be less than 100 grams or the penalty is a fine of US $150 according to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

Consequently, Foreman also received backlash from this invasion.

“I lost gigs because of the kidnapping charge written on the warrant. People started looking at me different.”

Foreman is seen as convicted by the sheriff’s dept. and amongst many others. Clubs began turning away the singer, defaming him for his career and financial stability.

Afroman tells VICE, on the day of the raid he asked the head officer if they were going to help him pay for his door to be repaired. The cop replies “ We’re not required to fix your door. That’s not what we do.”

Upcoming Projects

Above all, Afroman has milestones in his future and it begins with these two new hit songs.

“Lemon Pound Cake” shows the surveillance footage of police disconnecting his own security cameras and more.

Moreover, last month he did announce his future vision of running for presidential candidacy in 2024. His plan is to legalize recreational cannabis in all states.

A TMZ  report says Foreman has yet to complete his Federal Election Commission paperwork, as an independent runner.

On Afroman’s Instagram, his campaign manager Jason Savage posted and said in a statement, “My Fellow Americans, There comes a time in the course of human events when change must be affected. That time is now. Americans are suffering, and the status quo is no longer acceptable.”

Diddy Plans To Create The Largest Black-Owned, Licensed Cannabis Company, Opening Opportunities For Minorities!

Diddy is making major moves as he plans to make his first investment within the cannabis industry. The rapper is seeking to purchase multiple licensed marijuana operations in three states costing up to $185 million.

According to Rap-Up, cannabis is currently the fastest-growing industry in the United States. If the U.S. approves Combs’s plan, then he will create the largest Black-owned and licensed cannabis company in the world. It will also be the nation’s first minority-owned and operated, vertically integrated multi-state operator.

Diddy’s Wish For Minorities!

Columbia Care and Cresco Labs are both major companies in the cannabis industry. While they plan to sell assets to the Bad Boy mogul for $185 million, many expect the industry to reach about $72 billion by 2030.

With 81% of cannabis businesses being white-owned, the artist is soon to own nine retail stores and three production facilities. His wish is to mainly close the gap for minority entrepreneurs interested in cannabis. Puff said his mission has always been to create more opportunities for Black entrepreneurs who’ve always been denied access. He continues to add, “this acquisition provides the immediate scale and impact needed to create a more equitable future in cannabis…. An historic win for the culture that will allow us to empower diverse leaders throughout the ecosystem and be bold advocates for inclusion.”

Combs Enterprises President, Tarik Brooks, sat down with Bloomberg Markets and Finance to discuss opportunities and ways the company plans to expand in the cannabis world. Brooks stated it is very rare that an African-American entrepreneur gets to participate in the development of this industry. He goes on to say that as cannabis will continue growing, it is important to bring diversity to the field. Columbia Care CEO and co-founder, Nicholas Vita, added that the Combs team would make a great impact in the industry. “We can’t wait to see how he helps shape the cannabis industry going forward through his entrepreneurial leadership and innovation.”

Boosie Badazz Harassment Claims Shut Down by Cops

Boosie Badazz claims the reason that he was pulled over and handcuffed by the police is because he is famous. The cops in Georgia, where the incident took place, claim this is false. Badazz was riding shotgun in a black Cadillac SUV when police pulled the car over. The reason cops pulled the rapper over was because the car had heavy window tint and concealed tags. During the traffic stop, however, the cops handcuffed Badazz and this sent the rapper off on a huge rant about cops. In the rant, Boosie Badazz talks about how he is being targeted by the cops for his celebrity status. TMZ obtained the entire rant video and was told that the cops were intending to search the car. You can watch the entire video below.

The Outcome of Boosie Badazz Dealing With Cops & Fame

Obviously, this is not the first time that a celebrity has made such accusations. In this case, the police officers claimed to smell marijuana and put the cuffs on the rapper for police protection. According to Fairburn Police Department Deputy Chief Anthony Bazydlo, it is common for cops to use handcuffs when searching a car. Bazydlo says that Badazz’s claims are false and his celebrity status or past criminal history had nothing to do with the stop. The cop’s main reason for the stop was for the temporary license plate. Additionally, the license plate was obstructed and could not be checked. The cop’s search turned up a large bag of cash and a bag of weed. The driver of the Cadillac SUV, De’Shun Lawrence claimed ownership of the pot. Lawrence was cited and Badazz was released.

This is not the first time that TMZ has caught up to Badazz. Recently they also got footage of him getting in the face of a man outside a hotel. This incident was completely different from this as Badazz was defending a hotel employee who was being berated by the man.

Brittney Griner Pleads Guilty In Russian Court, Faces Up To 10 Years For Transporting Two Half-Empty Hash Oil Cartridges

When border patrol arrested WNBA star Brittney Griner in Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport, she had been traveling with two almost empty (0.252 grams and 0.45 grams) hashish oil cartridges. The court has charged Griner with international drug smuggling. She is facing up to 10 years in a Russian prison.

While looking at illegal and unregulated goods entering the country, the minuscule contraband Briner was traveling with doesn’t seem to bother the judiciary that much. According to the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and a self-proclaimed Kanye West fan, Sergey Ryabkov, “we understand American’s side attempts to fearmonger and start drama, but this won’t help.”

Griner Pleads Guilty

Today, on Jul 7, Brittney Griner pled guilty in Khimki court, yet, the basketball player continues to claim to have no law-breaking intentions. When explaining the used cartridges in the suitcase, Griner blames the incident on her lack of attention. She stated she had forgotten to take the vape devices out while packing her bags for Russia.

After Brittney Griner pled guilty today, the court scheduled her next court hearing will convene on Jul 14. She has been in detention in Moscow since February of this year.

While the opinions on cannabis generally vary, it seems rather obvious no one would smuggle two half-empty oil cartridges with the intent to resell them for a profit. How many sane people would purchase and use something another person off the street has already placed in their mouth? Would you like to buy a few used Juul pods if they still had a drop of juice left? Or a couple unfinished beers? Exactly.

Russia is so “tough-on-crime,” and they would never consider allowing a single gram of illegal substance(s) to enter the country via aircraft, right? After all, the far-right must have a reason to like president Putin so much.

Drugs In Russia

In 2018, an enormous drug scandal took place in South America. Someway somehow, 400 kilos of pure cocaine found its way onto the premises of the Russian embassy in Argentina. The product was then to be redistributed in Europe.

Surprisingly, none of the diplomats faced any legal consequences. Either from drug smuggling or, had they “not done anything,” held responsible for missing 400 kilos of cocaine. Instead, only three businessmen and a maintenance head of the Russian Embassy in Argentina faced convictions of 13 to 18-year prison sentences.

While you’re analyzing who buys cocaine from the Russian diplomats, we’ll quickly get back to Brittney Griner’s case. As we have established, two half-empty cartridges are harsh and a bit petty to consider drug contraband. As it also turns out, the Russian government has issues supervising the narcotics flow in its offices. Clearly, no one is paranoid about minor illegalities. So, what’s with the uproar about Griner?

The Story Of Naama Issachar

In 2019, the court convicted 26-year-old Naama Issachar to a seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence. This occurred after being detained in the Moscow airport, where authorities confiscated 9.6 grams of marijuana from the tourist.

Even though nothing notable happens in Russian politics without Putin’s pardon, he waited a tediously long time to grant one for the release of Issachar. Inconceivably, he most likely gained high ratings from taking a meeting with Issachar’s mother to show the media he is nothing like the airport police who arrested her daughter. The Israeli Court even granted Alexander Courtyard’s ownership to Russia.

Redman Is The New Executive Producer & Director Of ‘The Dab Roast’

Hip Hop’s relationship with cannabis dates back to the early 1990s. Musicians such as Cypress Hill, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and others have made the plant more popular in their music.

Today, rappers continue to grow the cannabis industry. They are well-positioned to take advantage of the different brand partnerships and products available.

Redman Joins ‘The Dab Roast’

Redman is one of Hip Hop’s most well-known cannabis users. He hopes to enter the industry differently from his peers. The artist will be educating people about cannabis. On Wednesday (Apr 20), Redman announced the partnership with the celebrity interview show “The Dab Roast.” He will serve as executive producer and director for the show’s upcoming second season.

“The Dab Roast” is a concept created by Scott McKinley. He initially proposed to have celebrities take a dab hit while answering ten rapid-fire questions in an interview format. This version of the show featured eight episodes and was full of humor.

Since people were suddenly blazing off a dab hit, it was hard for them to concentrate on the questions. Redman planned to appear on the show until he suggested an idea to McKinley.

“We did an episode with Doc, and then he watched the whole episode with us at our release party,” McKinley tells HipHopDX in an exclusive interview.

“He said that we need to put purpose behind what we’re doing. With him having the National Cannabis Party and coming to me asking if I need help, I absolutely decided to take the back seat and let the legend step in.”

Educating The Masses On Cannabis

Redman brings a whole new dynamic to “The Dab Roast” through his organization, the National Cannabis Party (NCP). In Doc’s view, the NCP is committed to educating people about the cannabis plant. There is no better time to educate people about the plant than during the current “Gold Rush” of cannabis impacting society and pop culture.

“What I see going on is everyone is having a real lack of education about this business side of cannabis,” says Redman. “I see a lack of education, lack of cannabis linguistics, and a lack of opportunities in a lot of places.”

The cannabis industry is experiencing rapid growth, especially as more states legalize the use of this plant for recreational purposes. Also, as legalization advances, major companies are looking to invest in the industry. We already see the effects of the increase in dispensaries and money-making ideas regarding cannabis.

Are These Companies Primarily Concerned With Educating The Public Or Maximizing Profits?

Are these companies teaching the public, or are they only interested in making a profit? McKinley and Doc say it’s the latter. This is especially true when considering that these companies keep a low profile. To prevent mom-and-pop businesses from succeeding in a field, they are knowledgeable about.

“We’re adding in all the education and the segments about different brands, different people that we need to show,” McKinley adds. “We have to make sure as a community that big pharma can’t come in and take all our jobs because Walmart and Walgreens do not need to be selling weed.”

Furthermore, major corporations, including ABinBEV, Pepsi North America, and Philip Morris, are preparing behind the scenes to launch sales of cannabis products. No one is trying to interfere with their plans. Yet, what are these companies doing to educate the masses other than selling pre-rolled joints?

‘The Dab Roast’ Has More To Offer

There will be more to “The Dab Roast” than teaching people everything there is to know about cannabis. Red and McKinley still plan to include portions of the original series in the new series. With guests taking dab hits (five fewer than the original 10) and answering questions. In addition to people getting high and struggling with questions.

“I’m in the business of helping people. Scott is in the business of helping people,” says Red. “A lot of people don’t say that, and a lot more are selfish about what they know, what they learn, and don’t want to share their info.”

With Covid restrictions putting a damper on the interactive scene, NFT’s explosive emergence shows no sign of slowing down.

NFT houses exclusive assets like renditions of Tupac’s famous ‘Makaveli’ bracelet. Since NFT’s affords its buyers to subsequently own the item, they are now a collectors dream.

Ultimately, the Certified Speaker has made a power move in the NFT world. Certainly, other celebrities are sure to follow.

2 Chainz Opens L.A. Dispensary Super Bowl Sunday

Rapper and entrepreneur 2 Chainz set to open a marijuana dispensary called Pineapple Express in L.A. on Super Bowl Sunday Feb.12. The move is on-brand for the Dope Don’t Sell Itself rapper who dared Snoop Dogg, another famous toker and marijuana businessman, to blaze on stage at Super Bowl LVI telling TMZ, “it would be legendary.” 2 Chainz, formerly known as Tity Boi, joins a legion of rappers who have formally invested in the marijuana market as more states legalize medical and recreational use.

The “trappa turnt rappa”, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, stays vocal about the role cannabis has played in his life.

“All I’ve ever known since I touched down on this Earth was drugs or drug dealing,” 2 Chainz said to Matt Barnes in an interview for a YouTube web series called, Same Energy. “I stay true to myself.”

2 Chainz advocates for marijuana legalization

He also advocated for marijuana legalization in an interview with Nancy Grace in 2015. Later, he founded premium marijuana brand, Gas Cannabis Co., in 2018—the same year California legalized recreational use. He has since aligned himself with brands such as Vice, High Times and Green Street Agency. 2 Chainz monetization of his love for cannabis is arguably legendary as well.

2 Chainz affirms that whatever path he chose would lead to success because he always believed he would be great.

“I surrounded myself with great people and I always thought it could happen for me too,” he said. “You take God given talent plus work ethic then you combine them and you get people like Lil’ Wayne, Kobe, Jordan. That’s what I aim for.”

The flagship Pineapple Express Dispensary is located on the corner of Hollywood and Vine. It monumentalizes the transition from dark disenfranchisement to wealth and financial freedom—making a bold statement. FM Hip Hop is watching to see if Snoop will blaze to that.

Meek Mill Says Weed Contributes to His Depression

Meek Mill has had a surprising revelation about weed and his mental health.

Putting The Blunt Down

Recreational marijuana and rappers are a long-standing duo. With hip hop icons like Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, and Kid Cudi making entire hit songs about the potent plant, cannabis is clearly a staple of rap culture. However, Philly artist Meek Mill seems ready to retire his weed habit.

“I smoke weed everyday and get depressed and soon as I get high,” Meek Mill typed Saturday evening (Dec.8). “I be happy as hell sober lol it just helps me think deeper and more realistic lol.”

Meek Mill’s weed denouncement isn’t the first time he has spoken on drug use. In October, in an episode of “Million Dollaz Worth of Game,” the artist also spoke on the side effects of pill-popping.

“That shit is fentanyl. If you take Percs right now, you an asshole,” he said. “You can die off of just trying to get high, kill half your brain cells in your mind just by trying to get high.”

You can watch the full podcast below.

Weed, brought up by Meek Mill, is a popular attribute of music. Painkillers like Percocets, Adderal, and Codeine are particularly popular in the hip-hop scene. While fans don’t mind rapping along to lyrics about these drugs, they still carry fatal consequences. In 2017, ‘Beamer Boy’ rapper Lil Peep was found dead in his tour bus after overdosing on a mix of fentanyl and Xanax. This was also followed by the tragic death of Mac Miller in 2018, again an overdosing incident involving fentanyl.

Meek Mill Starts The Weed Conversation

Along with Meek Mill’s weed opinions, 2022 seems to be bringing on an overall change of heart for rappers concerning drug usage. Recently, Moneybagg Yo also tweeted about his declining use of lean and how his sobriety hasn’t halted his creative process.

“I use to think being sober would f*ck wit my creative process, I see dats just a mind thing cuz I been more active skin glowing and I been dropping nun but pressure,” the 30-year-old rapper typed. He ended the tweet with #nomorewokesha, a reference to his hit single about the dangerous drink.

Meek Mill’s weed tweet now raises the question of how far is too far when glorifying the use of drugs at the expense of mental health. While weed isn’t capable of the same daunting effects as pills or powder, the conversation is still alarming.

Jay-Z Invests $19 Million Into Cannabis POS Platform Flowhub

Shawn Carter, best known as Jay-Z, is investing a shocking $19 Million into his cannabis ventures. He has partnered with Flowhub, a cannabis retail point-of-sale(POS) platform for marijuana dispensaries. The financing was led by venture firms Headline and Poseidon.

Shawn “business, man” Carter

Kyle Sherman founded Flowhub in 2015 and is more than honored to partner with him. In a sit-down with Forbes, he shares his excitement about working with the mogul.

“When Jay says, ‘I’m not a businessman, I’m a business, man,’ it’s true,” says Sherman. “He’s got incredible business acumen—he really knows how to surround himself with brilliant people and build great companies,” he continued.

Jay-Z famously rapped this line on the remix to Diamonds From Sierra Leone in 2005. Mr. Carter has embodied this, and for this reason, we know the multimillion-dollar investment was strategic.

In 2019, Jay-Z launched his cannabis company, Monogram, to support a new chapter in cannabis.

“MONOGRAM MARKS A NEW CHAPTER IN CANNABIS DEFINED BY DIGNITY, CARE AND CONSISTENCY. IT IS A COLLECTIVE EFFORT TO BRING YOU THE BEST, AND A HUMBLE PURSUIT TO DISCOVER WHAT THE BEST TRULY MEANS.”

Specifically, Carter launched the Social Equity Ventures fund to provide up to $1 million for minority-owned cannabis startups. His overall goal was to boost Black participation in the predominantly white cannabis industry. His efforts are fueled by the vast impact the war on drugs has had on the black community.

Regarding his billion-dollar net worth, Forbes reveals that roughly USD 425 million of Jay-Z’s fortune comes from cash investments and stakes.

Why did Jay-Z partner with Flowhub?

Launched in June 2021, Flowhub’s social equity program invests in those adversely impacted by the War on Drugs. To emphasize the strategic partnership, the additional funding from Carter will accelerate expansion into emerging markets. Subsequently, it will aid in further development of product lines and grow its social equity program.

The program will provide eligible social equity business owners with Flowhub’s POS software at a discounted rate. To date, Flowhub has awarded over $1 million worth of software products to eligible cannabis entrepreneurs via this program.

All things considered, these powerful companies join together effortlessly. With a common goal to deter the war on drugs, Carter has shown again why he is The Business Man.

Follow us for more on Jay-Z and Roc Nation as they continue to push for global change on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
