Nicki Awakes to Social Media Storm

Headlines surrounding New York icon Nicki Minaj have been chaotic lately, to say the least. On Aug 1, a woman who calls herself Nicki Minaj’s ex-assistant posted some severe allegations on her Instagram story. The “Kate Miller” account then quickly caught everyone’s attention. Amongst all the salacious claims made about Nicki, some of the most shocking were $173 million in unpaid taxes and her husband Kenneth physically abusing her. Moreover, the “ex-assistant” also judged Nicki’s relationship with Cardi B, Beyonce, Meek Mill, Drake, and Rihanna.

The mysterious Nicki Minaj’s assistant also claimed Kenneth said something to her in private that “still gives [her] chills.” Kenneth Petty has plenty of controversy surrounding him, as he was previously went to jail for attempted rape and manslaughter. It seems Miller’s posts mainly aimed toward Kenneth and the allegations already following him.

Setting The Record Straight

This Wednesday (Aug 3), Nicki went live on Instagram to condemn people for believing rumors. “People are this fucking dumb,” she said. “People are really believing that I got somebody that work for me and now they spilling tea. Chile. But it’s not even that; it’s the tea sound so fucking dumb, and for a person to believe it, you would have to be dumb,” Nicki continued. She then proceeded to debunk the claims made about owing the IRS money.

“It’s clearly a kid. Do you know how much money you have to make to owe that amount of money to the IRS? … Like, come on. What? Get off of my sweet Trinidadian pussy. I really need y’all to either get a job, invest in yourself and your future.”

Finding The Silver Lining

Now, after all the dust has settled and the now deleted account was confirmed to be fake, Nicki is making things right.

The woman whose image was also an avatar for the fake account hopped on Twitter this week to defend herself. “To be clear: I have never had a secret life as the ‘ex-assistant’ of @NICKIMINAJ,” Megan Bettencourt typed. “Someone stole my photo and used it in a fake account. Fraudulent impersonation wasn’t the way I envisioned being mentioned in @Newsweek, but hey, scammers gonna scam.”

Nicki then swiftly responded to Bettencourt, likely disapproving of the wave of hate she’s received since the fake posts. “Ok you know TF what? well hey, if you ever need a job hit me up” Minaj replied. “I feel bad. but hey cheers to Newsweek! Always a silver living. i-i guess?”

Megan hasn’t replied publicly but who knows, perhaps the conversation continued in the DMS. If Nicki’s offer was valid, it’s one good thing to come from this strange controversy.

Nicki Minaj Claps Back To Alleged Former Assistant Exposing Everything! “I Am Mind Blown”

The queen of rap, Nicki Minaj, is trending again, but this time she finds herself in some heated water. On Monday, August 1st, an Instagram account claiming to be Nicki’s former assistant went viral for spilling some intense tea about the rapper.

According to Hot New Hip-Hop, the account under the name, Kate Miller, made numerous Instagram Stories with the goal to expose Minaj. In her first post, she says, “I am Onika’s ex-assistant who she fired for absolutely no proof of fraud with her bank account.” The user explains she will be exposing all the files she has from working with the artist along with voice messages Nicki had sent her regarding many different people. She went on to add that the “We Go Up” rapper owes the IRS $173M in unpaid taxes. She also alleges that Minaj paid for her upcoming single “Freaky Girl” to appear on the charts, and even exposes her son’s name, Amadeus Cyril Petty as well as calling out her husband, Kenneth Petty. The account also goes on to spill more gossip involving artists she’s worked with such as Drake, Lil Wayne, Cardi B, Arianna Grande, Coi Leray, and more.

Nicki fires back, “I Am Mind Blown!”

Later on in the evening, Nicki finally went live on Instagram to defend her name, shutting down those rumored allegations. “Every day I learn that y’all getting dumber and fu*king dumber.”  She continues to say how mind blown she is that people are so dumb. She says, “People are really believing that I got somebody that work for me and now they spilling tea. Chile. But, it’s not even that. It’s the tea sound so fu*king dumb, and for a person to believe it, you would have to be dumb. It’s clearly a kid.”

Nicki Minaj Teases Upcoming Docuseries On Social Media

Nicki Minaj fans, or ‘Barbz,’ have more content from the rapper to look forward to. The rapper took to Twitter Thursday evening, and posted the two-minute trailer for her docuseries. This six-episode project is different from the 2010 film, Nicki Minaj: My Time Now, as it’s been 12 years since her initial documentary was released.

While fans celebrated the release of the trailer, others are still focused on her husband, Kenneth Petty’s legal troubles. In fact, Nicki critics and supporters have been exchanging not-so-kind words on “stan Twitter” all day. Some claim Minaj is dodging accountability for supporting her husband through sexual assault allegations. Others claim Petty is innocent, and his past has nothing to do with the rapper. Regardless, the docuseries is sure to be a hit amongst fans and those who are curious about how Nicki has been doing.

Docuseries, A Longtime Coming

The series explores the highs and lows of Minaj’s career, and its effect on her personal life. In the trailer, Nicki talks about facing hardship in a male-dominated industry. This tracks, as there was a period of time when it seemed only one woman could dominate the hip-hop industry at a time. That kind of pressure comes with a lot of reward, but also, consequences. For instance, she admitted to self-medicating to deal with the pressures of her career. Earlier in April, Nicki tweeted  “I used to b happy when I was high, now I’m happy when I’m sober. No judgment to anyone. Be gentle with yourself.”

When you are just focused on the business, you can lose yourself…It was time for me to grow up and start loving myself.

Nicki Minaj Gives Killer Wireless Festival Performance, Some Fans Fuming Over Late Arrival

According to Metro, Nicki Minaj left some fans heated after arriving late to headline the 2022 Wireless Festival in London. The rapper was not only late by a half-hour but only performed 40 minutes out of 80 with no apology. Many times throughout her set, there had also been technical difficulties and multiple breaks. The source claims her mic and monitor were not in sync which caused a delay in her performance. Fans started to become irritated as she asked the crowd, “Can you guys give me 30 seconds.” She then took a wardrobe break leaning closer to the end of her set was over at 9:30 pm. Prior to her performance, around 3 pm on July 10th, reports state fans climbed over fences as the crowd started to weigh in due to an alleged shooting nearby, which caused fans to freak out and sparked their impatience.

Some Fans Expressed Their Disappointment With Nicki’s Lateness via Twitter.

Some fans were not happy with Minaj as she was once again late to her set. User @ShesFishy took to Twitter to say, “Lmaoo it wouldn’t be Nicki without her being late.” @JustJosie_x also tweeted, “Nicki Minaj was 40 minutes late. Performance was lazy. Set list was all over the place. & kept going go on and off the stage.” Some fans even said her lateness is unfair and unprofessional as tickets are already expensive.

Fans Excused Nicki Minaj’s Lateness After She Delivered A Fire Performance.

Although the “Do We Have A Problem?” rapper may have left some fans upset, she still owned the stage as she always does. Independent reports that the artist performed a variety of throwback songs leading up to her major hits including, “Anaconda,” “Side To Side,” “Whole Lotta Money,” which she brought out BIA for, and to top it all off, “Super Bass.” While many fans were not to fond of Minaj’s timing, she did seem to leave a great impression as she did give the fans what they have been waiting for which was an awesome performance. @mufaseek tweeted, “I know she’s late you guys but everyone there and watching the lives is gonna enjoy every moment when she arrives it’s gonna be one for the books I can feel it, NICKI X WIRELESS”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office reported that on Wednesday, Jul 6, a federal judge sentenced Kenneth Petty, Nicki Minaj’s husband, to one year of in-home confinement. The court also ordered Petty to serve three years of probation. In 2020, the defendant pleaded guilty to violating California’s law regarding registering sexual offenders.

FMHipHop reported that Kenneth was convicted of attempted rape in 1995, which required him to register as a sex offender in New York City. When he moved to California with his wife, he was unaware that he had to re-register as a sexual offender. However, prosecutors did not believe him since he allegedly knew about this for the past twenty years.

In his testimony at the hearing, Petty accepted full responsibility for his actions and the consequence thereof. “I take full responsibility for whatever happens today,” he said. “I’m ashamed, embarrassed, and disrespected my wife’s brand. There are no excuses. I broke the law. I thank you for giving me the chance to speak, to apologize.”

Moreover, Petty and Nicki live in a beautiful mansion in a gated community. Putting Kenneth in home detention would not appear to be an appropriate punishment. Accordingly, the prosecutors recommended incarceration for 15 months and a five-year probation sentence. This harsh sentence was, however, rejected by the judge.

1995’s Rape Accusations: What Did Kenneth Petty Do?

Court documents acquired by The Blast indicate that Kenneth Petty was suspected of pressing something on the back of a 16-year-old girl as she walked to school. Furthermore, until they were at his house, he gave her the command to “keep walking.” However, she managed to escape by hitting him with a bottle after he allegedly started raping her while holding a knife.

In addition, Jennifer Hough, who grew up in South Jamaica, Queens, and claims Petty raped her, sued both him and Minaj. Hough pressed charges against the couple in 2021. She claimed Minaj and Petty were trying to bully her into retracting her rape claim, reports People. According to the thorough report published by The Daily Beast, Jennifer Hough allegedly received $20,000 in exchange for signing a statement denying the rape.

Prosecutors Want Kenneth Petty Back In Prison

Kenneth Petty has spent 6 months in prison for not registering as a sex offender. He is spending the rest of his sentence under supervised release, in his and his wife, Nicki Minaj,’s mansion. Federal prosecutors want him back in prison.

Kenneth Petty had to register as a sex offender in New York in 1995 due to an attempted rape conviction. When he moved to California, he did not re-register. He claims that he did not know that it was a thing that he had to do. Prosecutors do not believe him because he has had an annual warning about that for the last two decades.

When it went to trial, Petty pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to 6 months in prison and supervised release. Prosecutors looked at what he has in his and Minaj’s house. They see that there is almost no reason for him to leave his house. This punishment is a slap on the wrist. They want to more than double his prison time, to 15 months. Prosecutors also want him to have a supervised release for 5 years, as well as a $55K fee.

Why revise Petty’s punishment?

The reason for the change is because of the drastic lifestyle change that Petty had recently gone through. He quit his day job, went to the other side of the country, and has adopted an affluent lifestyle.

Petty probably ignored it because he is now rich and famous. He thinks he can do whatever he wants and get away with it, like when he and Minaj tried to coerce his attempted rape victim to recant her testimony against him to the judge, through money and threatening her family. She told them no and spilled the beans, but apparently, that did not teach him his lesson.

The revised sentence is going to be looked at on July 6.

Nicki Minaj Responds To A $20M Default Judgement Lawsuit

Things don’t seem suitable for Kenneth Petty and Nicki Minaj since the default judgment lawsuit for $20M is facing the couple, on top of other things.

The couple married in 2019. Just about a year later, Petty was arrested and charged for failing to register as a sex offender in California after moving from New York. In 1995 Petty committed first-degree attempted rape. He spent about four years in prison.

Jennifer Hough, Barbz and Death Threats

Petty’s victim’s name is Jennifer Hough. This summer, she filed a lawsuit against both Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty. Hough went on The Real to claim the couple tried to pay her off. Nicki’s associates also harassed Hough when paying didn’t work out. 

“[They were] sending people to negotiate numbers as far as money is concerned with family members, and Nicki is the one who personally reached out to me in regard to helping her, helping them in this situation,” Hough shared on The Real. “And then the threats that I received because I kept saying no to every offer, to every suggestion.”

Hough also pointed out the incident, “when one of their associates put $20,000 on my lap, and I still kept saying no. The last message I received was that I should have taken the money ’cause they’re going to take that money to put on my head.”

Finally, when Hough’s interview came out, she started to receive death threats in her DMs. Those came from Nicki Minaj’s hardcore fans, also known as “Barbz”.

Hough Files Lawsuit Against Minaj and Petty

Hough struck back at the couple with a lawsuit. She accused them of harassment, witness intimidation, emotional distress, assault, battery, sexual assault, and sexual battery. Hough filed the documents on August 13th. Petty and Minaj failed to respond within 21 days. Thus, Hough filed another motion asking the court to give her a default judgment of $20M.

The text of a default judgment motion says, “please enter the default of defendants Onika Tanya Maraj, and Kenneth Petty, AKA Zoo, pursuant to Rule 55(a) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure for failure to plead or otherwise defend this action as fully appears from the court file herein and from the attached affirmation of Tyrone A. Blackburn, Esq.”

Nicki Responds To The Default Judgement

Nicki Minaj responded to the default judgement with an argument that the failure to address the complaint in question in a timely fashion was “not willful.” She thought she hired the attorney Judd Berstein to represent her, while her manager failed to formally retain the lawyer. 

“My failure to respond to the complaint was the product of an innocent mistake, and I ask the court to excuse the delay so that I can defend what I believe to be an entirely frivolous case which plaintiff’s counsel has brought against me in an effort to use my name to generate publicity for himself,” Minaj is quoted as stating in the documents.

Finally hired, Burstein now also argues that his client should be able to pursue a motion to dismiss the complaint on multiple grounds.

He and his bride moved from New York to California. Not informing the state they now call home that he is a sex offender.

What Lead To Kenneth Petty Being A Sex Offender

The trial is linked to the crime back in 1995 for the first-degree attempted rape of a teenager. The teenager at the time of the attempted rape was only sixteen years old. The prosecutor accused him of using a sharp object to force the girl to have sex with him. Leading to his jail sentence.
This almost thirty-year-old crime has resulted in Petty previously spending four years in prison.

Kenneth Petty Wants His Trial Date Pushed

According to certain documents, he wants his trial date pushed to August! Petty has a new legal aid team to assist him in the upcoming trial.  There is new evidence to go over to prepare for the trial. Some of the evidence consists of 800 pages of reports, audio records, videos, and much more.

Petty is also asking for the trial to be pushed due to personal reasons regarding his wife. Due to the upcoming trial, he cannot leave the state of California. TMZ reports that he has filed with the courts to modify the terms. To allow him to travel with his wife outside of those curfew hours. It’s because he’s her manager. 

 

The baby will also be closer to Petty if she goes into labor outside of California, a very real possibility since his wife can still travel for work or otherwise, with pandemic conditions still in place.
