Trump Organization Founded Guilty of Tax Fraud

..On January 13, the city of New York, and a judge came to a decision of a guilty verdict. Former U.S. President Donald Trump is charged on 17 accounts towards two of his owned businesses.

In a Manhattan courtroom, Donald Trump, and his eldest children, Donald Jr., and Eric, stood before the judge.

Moreover, last month The Trump Corp. and Trump Payroll Corp. were convicted of tax fraud and falsifying business records. Directly under New York law, most companies can be fined up to $1.6 million.

This lawsuit has Attorney General Letitia James accusing Trump of fraudulently overvaluing his net worth and his real estate company’s assets. This isn’t the first time James has sued Trump, his children, and the organization.

Last year, in September, James implicated that an alleged scheme to raise Trump’s assets is sought through banks, insurers, and lies. She describes this method as “staggering” fraud. James did seek out $250 million in damages.

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court in Manhattan rejected her defense claim.

Justice Arthur Enforon, a part of the state Supreme Court, said she waited too long to sue, lacked enough supporting evidence of fraud, and justify the million of damages she had been seeking.

TRUMP COMAPANIES FACE PENALITY

During this trial, prosecutors included evidence that presented the engagement of executives working for Trump conspired to evade local, state, and federal taxes for over a decade.

In an NPR interview, IIya Marritz covers the trail and says one executive received cars, an apartment, and private school tuition, and all is off records. However, This did benefit the Trump business.

In other words, Trump did not have to raise executive wages for many years, and the business avoided payroll and Medicare taxes.

The executives are not ordered by the court to appear, rather it is who runs the businesses, which is the Trump family who indeed lawyered up.

Furthermore, the judge told the defense team that they have two weeks to pay the maximum, and they accepted.

What’s the next step?

Coming from the New York statute book, this was the maximum Trump can be fined. For each count comes a dollar amount that must be compensated.

District Attorney Alvin Bragg voices this business trial as an example to those who would dare to think of escaping their taxes.

He also noted, “$1.6 million may not be much of a deterrent I want to be very clear. We don’t think that is enough. Our laws in this state need to change in order to capture this type of decade-plus systemic and egregious fraud.”

In essence, the former president along with his eldest children will be appealing the verdict.

As for New York Attorney General James, who is preparing for the civil case, she aims for a successful outcome. Her objective is to remove the Trumps from leadership roles in the company.

She intends to preclude the Trumps from buying or selling real estate or applying for loans for five years. She has also demanded a $250 million fine.

Trump reiterates he has done nothing wrong, but today’s sentencing tells otherwise. Even then he has never been charged with a crime and remains fraught.

Mayor Eric Adams Brings Hip Hop Museum to NYC

A new museum has been funded for the city of New York. Recently, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that over $5 million has been raised to fund the Universal Hip Hop Museum. Also, Mayor Adams put up $2 million out of his pocket. The Universal Hip Hop Museum will be located in Mill Pond Park, and the 52,000-square-foot facility will have many exhibits, a theater and administrative offices. The Department of Cultural Affairs has joined Mayor Eric Adams on this venture. Also, they have combined funding efforts for the New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx Zoo, Pregones Puerto Rican Traveling Theater and other Bronx-based organizations.

Mayor Adams and The Universal Hip Hop Museum

The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs is currently on a tour of the five boroughs to shed light on the many cultures in New York. Mayor Adams expressed that New Yorkers needed to embrace the different cultures in the city. Altogether, the Universal Hip Hop Museum will help show people that Hip Hop tells the story of New York. The mayor added that the youth are not aware that the Bronx and hip hop have a rich history. Investments in the cultural arts will only create more facilities like this in the Bronx and all over New York. Right now, The museum is the only state educational museum that specializes in highlighting contributions to hip hop.

Bronx Point Mix-Use

In 2017, Mill Pond Park was originally going to be home to a Bronx Point mix-use. At first, it was going to have a multiplex theater, a food hall, affordable housing units, and an education space. However, the project is still in talks among the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, NYC Parks, and the Economic Development Corporation. Next year, construction will begin and will be completed by the end of 2025.

Machine Gun Kelly Smashes His Face At NY After Party

Machine Gun Kelly is certainly a punk rock artist.  He performed in Madison Square Garden earlier this week on his “Mainstream Sellout Tour”.  The tour has 27 more stops and includes Trippie Redd, Willow, and Iann Dior.   After the show was the after party of course.  During the party, MGK decided to smash his face with a glass!  He was on stage with a champagne class in one hand and the microphone in the other.  After screaming that he didn’t care about anything, the rock star breaks the glass on his face.  With blood coming out of his face, he remains on stage and performs his song, “My Ex’s Best Friend”.

MGK’s Antics

On his Instagram page, you can see the two clips in which MGK looks as if nothing happened.  In the morning after, he takes to social media again posting his reaction of what he did the night prior.  The Ohio-raised rapper appeared shocked and disgusted.  Yesterday, he appeared on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” where he explained the incident.  He said he wanted to quiet the crowd, but he did not have a fork.  So, he used his head instead.  Also, this may be hard to believe, but MGK did not wait until after his concert to spark headlines.  He was even on one during his sold-out show!  During his set, Kelly decided to come at one of the crew members.  He aggressively ran off the stage shouting towards the man until his team member held him back.  MGK ran right back on stage to smash a guitar before the end of the show.

Life in Pink

Machine Gun Kelly has had a few dark times in his life.  He details a time specifically in his new documentary, “Life in Pink”.  Streaming on Hulu, the rapper turned rocker admits he almost committed suicide.  In July of 2020, Kelly’s father passed away and he did not know how to cope.  His girlfriend, Megan Fox, was out of town working while he was all alone.  At that time, he was sleeping with a shotgun every night from dealing with paranoia.  One day, he turned the shotgun on him, but fortunately he did not pull the trigger.  As a result, Kelly decided to stay off drugs with the help of Fox and his daughter.

Drill Sparks Conversation Between Rappers and NYC Mayor

Drill rappers Fivio Foreign, Maino, and several others, met with New York City Mayor Eric Adams Tuesday evening after he suggested banning some music videos from social media. Drill is a style of rap originating in the south side of Chicago in the 2010s. Since then, the subgenre has become a phenomenon in places like Seoul, New York, and Dublin. It’s characterized by heavy trap beats and often dark lyrics, usually talking about violent or other illicit activities.

We pulled Trump off Twitter … yet we are allowing music displaying of guns, violence.”

In a 42-second video posted to Instagram, Maino along with a dozen other rappers, met with the mayor to come to an understanding about the genre. “There’s been a lot of talk about drill rap, drill music in New York City, connecting violence with the culture,” said Maino. “I just wanted to create a conversation with the mayor.” New York City has seen an increase in crime since the pandemic started. Among these crimes, are last month’s murders of Drill rappers Chii Wittz and Tdott Woo in Brooklyn.

Rap Music and Violence

The implication that rap music sparks violence, is far from new. In the 1990s, groups like N.W.A elicited the same response. People protested and insisted radio stations stop playing rap that encourages violent behavior. The current reaction to drill rappers is similar. However, others argue that the music itself isn’t causing violence. The primary attribute of the subgenre existing is storytelling. Specifically, the purpose is to tell the stories of disenfranchised communities.

In the Instagram clip, Mayor Adams said he and the drill artists he met with, would “roll out something together soon.”

“N***** is hatin on me. N***** hatin for no reason. I watch how I move so I won’t get caught up in the sh*t I keep hearing.”

As I moved through Gramzukut’s music catalog, I came across the song, “Lyrical Therapy”. Beginning with a single guitar and a male vocalist, the track immediately introduces a different sound to the listener. “Where do you go to, when all of the world is crashing around you. I think that I know you. The look on your face, I finally found you.” This song paints the perfect picture of Gramzunkut’s trials and tribulations.

“When thugs die there’s blood on the pavement. Moms tearing. Flowers on the casket. What you kill my n**** for? Choked him out. Took his flesh but his words live on. Eric Garner, you the heart of the game. We all gon’ die, we bleed from similar veins.”

NYC Based Musician Ryn Hills Drops Visual for “Peter Parker”

The featured artist for #FMSpotlight is Ryn Hills. Hills is a NYC-based Rap and R&B prodigy from Pine Hills, FL who’s been practicing his craft since 5 years old. His talents in music range from being a drummer, pianist, producer/engineer and a guitarist just like his father, Thomas McClary, who is the legendary guitarist and founder of The Commodores.

After briefly attending college at Florida A&M University, Ryn got an opportunity to tour with his father as vocalist and guitarist in The Commodores Experience band. Hills time on the road elevated his skills as a drummer, guitarist and singer.

As of recently, Hills has released his new music video for his single “Peter Parker”. The video was shot in New York and depicts a very fun, refreshing vibe, which is important for the world to have something like that right now. Continuing his theme of slick, lighthearted visuals (check out “Escargot”) Ryn Hills “Peter Parker” literally packs a powerful punch with its melodic, lively vibe. The single, which features fellow singer Roe Lindsay is a comical account of a love triangle that goes awry.

Both “Escargot” and “Peter Parker” were created during the COVID-19 pandemic, showing that his love for music and grind isn’t going to slow down, no matter what issue may arise.

His musicality and sense of humor shines bright in the music video. With the hook “Girl, I’m Peter Parker. I’m the cameraman.”  The song is infectious, buoyant and eases tension at a hostile time in America. Take a listen below.
