Yesterday, Aurora Pride canceled the annual parade in Illinois planned for this Sunday. Aurora planned this to be the third yearly pride parade after COVID-19 canceled the 2020 and 2021 parades. This follows the news that there is not enough police security to properly monitor the event. Aurora Pride planned the parade for this Sunday, June 12th, but the city revoked its event permit on Wednesday afternoon.
Aurora Pride states the city informed them they had until 12 PM on Wednesday to find the requisite officers. With the police understaffed, they searched other jurisdictions for the staff. However, unable to find the necessary officials, they lost their Special Events license.
Aurora Pride Ban on Police Uniforms
Much of this issue stems from the parade’s ban on police marching in uniform. Two weeks ago, the organization announced they would not allow any service weapons, police uniforms, or official vehicles in the parade. They cited distrust between the police and the LGBTQ+ community as the policy change. However, they maintained that the policy was to create “the most welcoming environment possible” for all involved. Aurora Pride did encourage law enforcement officers participating in the parade still to identify themselves with t-shirts, flags, or a “soft uniform.”
The police force expressed their displeasure with the change, as they could wear uniforms both in the 2018 and 2019 parades. The mayor of Aurora also withdrew his participation in the parade. He voiced support for those affected in the police department. He attempted to flee the city float from the parade, as well.
Aurora Pride is still committed to making the event happen, still searching for the personnel necessary. Their statement reads: “We’re not giving up. Our position has been misrepresented, and we’re making every effort to keep the parade as scheduled. Thank you for your steadfast support, and please hang tight.”

"Mucky James" By Tory Lanez Not About Meg Thee Stallion. Image source: Alberto Rodriguez/Getty Images.
Tory Lanez is certainly starting off his week in a rough way. A small mistake cost him a flight, but it may get even worse.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas
‘DAYSTAR’ singer Tory Lanez was halted by Las Vegas TSA this Sunday upon finding a “large” amount of marijuana in one of his bags. While he had a scary run-in, TSA eventually allowed him to leave after taking the controlled substance.
According to a report relayed to TMZ by Vegas police, the investigation is still ongoing at this time. Regardless, it’s unlikely it’ll result in any serious charges since marijuana is legal in Nevada. With Lanez attempting to board a plane with the plant, this may make matters a little more serious. We’ll just have to keep an eye out for now. One thing is for sure, more legal battles are the last thing Tory needs.
Tory has yet to make any comment at this time.
Tory can’t stay inline
This is yet another incident for The Canadian artist, who seems to have consistent issues with the law. He’s currently facing two felony charges, assault with a semiautomatic firearm and possession of an unregistered firearm. The possession charge is directly related to the alleged shooting of Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.
Even before the Megan situation, Lanez has had a checkered past with the police. In March 2016, he narrowly avoided riot charges after going at it with security at a Texas concert. The ‘I Like’ artist reportedly told concertgoers to “f**k this place up” before chairs and other objects were thrown.
For Tory’s sake, hopefully, he can start avoiding trouble. With such a controversial court case ahead of him, what this Toronto singer needs is to focus.
*In this story, the rappers are hiding due to Kashmir authorities’ threats. The people in this story have fictional names to protect them from harm.
Standing beneath a Chinar tree near Srinagar, India’s famous Zero Bridge, Rumi explains how the death of a stranger inspired his music.
Rumi says that nearly a decade ago, he witnessed a group of young boys throwing stones at an army bunker as he walked to work. These types of incidents are common in Kashmir, which is heavily armed. A soldier fired a bullet within a few minutes, hitting a passerby. Rumi recalls that the man died immediately.
“He was just walking, as I was, and died in an instant, killed as collateral damage,” he says, as the Jhelum River quietly flows nearby.

Rumi, who is now 30 years old and has written many protest anthems for Kashmir, feels the pain from the incident. “As soon as I got back home, I narrated the whole incident in a rap form and recorded it.”
Like many young Kashmiris, particularly men, Rumi turned to rap as a means of protesting the violence he saw in one of the most dangerous regions of the world.
The Music Industry Presents A Challenge To Kashmir Rappers
Yet he has had difficulty making music since January 2019. The Indian government ended Kashmir’s self-rule status during that month and ordered a six-month media blackout on the region. Due to the subsequent crackdown on free expression, many Kashmiri rappers have left the music industry. However, the art form has survived by moving underground. Rappers say rapping is worth the risk to ensure the Kashmiri experience lives on.
Ruth Susan Mathew, who examines the rap music of Kerala, south India, remarks that hip-hop and rap always have focused on marginalized communities. Given that rap and hip-hop originated in Black communities in the U.S.
“Rap music in itself is a political art form,” says Ms. Mathew, who is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at Christ University in Bangalore. “That’s why it has a global reach and multiple societies throughout the world use it. Kashmiris, similarly, are using it in a way to voice their concerns [about] what is happening on the streets.”
Throughout his music, Rumi explores themes such as militarization, political self-determination, and the loss of cultural traditions in Kashmir. This predominantly Muslim region has also featured Pandits (Hindu priests and scholars) and Sikh communities throughout history. Having grown up in a Kashmiri Pandit family, the rapper draws inspiration from Sufism and spiritual poetry. Rumi keeps most of his music hidden nowadays to protect himself and his work.
“I have a strong feeling that times will change, and our raps will be referred to as the history of Kashmir,” he says. “Until then, we have to wait and keep resisting.”
In Srinagar, India, a rapper raises his fist while walking across the old wooden bridge. In 2010, MC Kash, the region’s first hip-hop star, released the hit song “I protest”, which became popular in Kashmir. Credit: Safina Nabi
History Of Protest
Kashmir became part of India in October 1947, subject to the condition that the state retains a degree of autonomy. Ultimately, the state will decide whether or not to remain a part of India, join Pakistan, or regain its independence. However, the vote has not taken place. As a result, Indian security forces and rebels have engaged in combat nearly continuously in the region. According to Human Rights Watch, Indian troops since 1990 “have engaged in massive human rights violations, including extrajudicial executions, rape, [and] torture.”
Over time, rap became a tool for peaceful resistance in Kashmir. The popularity of the trend rose after Kashmir’s first hip-hop star, Roshan Illahi, aka MC Kash, released his hit single “I protest” in September 2010.
Using Rap To Express Criticism About The Government
Therefore, many young musicians have turned to rap as a method of criticizing the government. In addition, musicians are reclaiming control over their stories, according to Mohamad Junaid, assistant professor of anthropology at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Growing up in Kashmir, he has written numerous articles about how the mainstream media portrays Kashmir’s militarization.
“No Kashmiri has been shown as a person who has aspirations and is capable of explaining or showing what they are going through,” he says, adding, “The rap music these boys make is a way of venting out their pain.”
Those connected to religious songs in the past find a form of emotional release in this genre. Ahmed grew up singing Naats (praises sung in the honor of the Prophet Mohammad) and verses from the Quran. However, whenever conditions in Kashmir worsened, he found himself drawn to resistance music, particularly rap. In 2014, he composed his first song in response to devastating floods.
“The Jhelum swelled and flooded the whole valley,” he says. “I could not help but think that the Jhelum was swollen with the pain due to all the things it has witnessed.”
In August 2019, more hardships arose. The Indian government has detained thousands of critics and journalists since the media blackout began. In the new policies, authorities have the authority to define “anti-national activities” and arrest individuals they believe are “likely to commit terror”. According to civil rights advocates, these are rules that effectively punish political speech. However, rappers such as Rumi and Ahmed remain committed to creating music.
Protecting Yourself
Kashmiri hip-hop artists currently organize secret cyphers and freestyle performances at undisclosed locations. Rappers remove names and other identifying details from their recordings before uploading them on the Internet. In addition, to hope for peace, the lyrics also address issues of censorship and militarization. However, because local journalists are often detained and newspapers’ archives are disappearing, rappers feel an even greater responsibility to document everyday events in Kashmir, including violations of human rights.
Dr. Junaid asserts that regardless of whether the artists are actively seeking to record the past, that is what is occurring at the underground cyphers and unknown studios. “These [songs] are cultural artifacts,” he says.
Keeping The Message Alive
As other forms of highlighting oppression slowly slipped away, Ahmed knew he must continue his music. “After 100 years, when people will come back to my songs, they will get to know what happened in Kashmir and may feel what we are feeling right now. This is the only purpose of doing what I do,” he says.
Despite the risks, the young rapper says he relies on imagery and symbolism to avoid legal trouble. “I frame the sentences in a way so that no one is offended, keeping my work and myself safe,” he says.
Although Ahmed carefully constructed his lyrics, police interrogated him. After his songs went viral and he received a call from the security forces about them, Dayaan* felt obligated to remove all traces of his art from the Internet.
“I became quite popular as the lyrics were written in such a manner that everyone could relate to them. But I had to delete everything from my YouTube channel for my own security,” he says.
Eventually, he discovered cyphers in the underground scene and joined a community of other Kashmiri rappers.
DaBaby's bowling brawl case Stalls and victim has moved south. Image Source: Brad Barket/Getty Images
Apparently, DaBaby’s investigation into the bowling alley fight has run into a snag. DaniLeigh’s brother, Brandon Bills is to blame.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the investigation into DaBaby’s brawl at a bowling alley with Brandon has run into unexpected problems. It appears Bills has refused to cooperate with the police.
Although most of the fight is on video, it is still difficult to continue the case without a victim.
In February of this year, DaBaby and his crew were involved in a big fight with Brandon at a bowling alley in California. Police were on the case after video footage showed the “21” rapper throwing the first punch before his crew stepped in.
According to reports, police have opened an investigation into the rapper following the video review.
What Caused The Fight Between DaBaby And Brandon Bills?
As you probably recall, the beef between DaBaby and Brandon erupted after DaBaby’s mother, DaniLeigh, publicly addressed some issues. The fight between DaBaby and DaniLeigh led to her arrest for assault.
The bowling alley investigation is still ongoing. However, it is not moving forward since Bills is not cooperating with the police.
Brandon Bills Claims He Never Cooperated With The Police
Surprisingly, in a clip posted to TheShadeRoom’s Instagram page, Brandon Bills claims that he never cooperated with the police. In addition, he asserts that he has no intention of jailing Dababy. After explaining his reasons for not doing so, he confirmed that he is not a snitch.
“All y’all talking all that snitch sh*t, you know, y’all might as well put a quick to that cause ain’t nobody a snitch here. he said. Never will be a snitch, never was a snitch. That sh*t went viral, the whole world saw it. You know what I’m saying they came to me, they asked me what happened, I said look at the video. The video tell you everything.”
Moreover, this past week, Baby shot a trespasser on his property in North Carolina. During the 911 call following the shooting, he explained that he would refuse to lay down his weapon upon police arrival.
The trespasser did not suffer any severe injuries and was taken to a hospital for observation.
This afternoon news revealed that a SWAT team raided YoungBoy’s house in Houston, Texas. The house is on the same property where the artist’s mother lives.
According to TMZ, a Harris County Sheriff’s Office spokesman issued the warrant to search the residence. The raid resulted in arrests and the seizure of two weapons- a .45 caliber gun and a 9mm gun.
An HCSO representative says SWAT officers served a warrant at the YoungBoy’s home on the morning of Jan. 25, a day before the raid.
3 Defendants Charged With Possession Of Weapons
Roymellow Williams, Daryl Brown, and Carleon Gallien got under arrest during the raid. All charged with possession of firearms by a convicted felon and possession of unregistered firearms.
It remains unknown what kind of connection these men have with the rapper.
Police believe this raid is related to a November shooting that left one man with multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities said the someone shot the man multiple times in the body and head. He still managed to survive and get to the hospital.
YoungBoy’ s Arrest
In October of last year, the rapper was released after six months in jail for weapons possession after paying $500,000.
The rapper is currently in home confinement in Utah, so he did not witness the shooting and is not under arrest. It’s hard to say whether the mother was in residence at the time of the incident, so she’s not facing charges either.
Young Boy is currently awaiting trial on federal weapons charges.
Security at Amsterdam airport arrested Ari Lennox this morning, November 29. Lennox, or Courtney Shanade Salter, posted multiple tweets relaying this information to the public.
The Dutch military police, the group responsible for security at Schiphol airport, claim that Lennox was disturbing the public order. They also reported the singer was behaving drunkenly. However, Lennox tweeted her own side of the story:
During the situation, the military police claimed that they were investigating reported threats. There were reports that the “Shea Butter Baby” star made threats before and during her arrest.
“Our unit found a woman full of emotions, that wouldn’t calm down. That’s why she had to be taken into custody,” military police spokesperson Robert van Kapel said.
Ari Lennox’s Arrival
Before the incident, everything was going smoothly for the singer. She performed at the Soul Train Awards on Sunday, where she performed her latest single, “Pressure.” She also joined Summer Walker for a performance of Walker’s track “Unloyal.”
Unfortunately, the departure wasn’t as graceful when conflict occurred. As she told her fans, the trip turned sour fast for the singer. Other than the reports given, it’s unclear what happened between Lennox, airport staff, and security.
The military police have not stated on Lennox’s release. The story is still developing on the 30-year-old R&B singer’s arrest.

Caught on camera! Video footage has surfaced of rapper Sheff G in a high-speed escape from police, swiping the bumper of a woman’s car and hitting a tree during the chase. The incident took place in August after Sheff G fled an intersection. The video footage of the incident is available via New York Daily News.
After the woeful August 21, 2021 chase, Sheff G now faces a lawsuit from the woman, Alexia Friend, in the Brooklyn Supreme Court. The suit alleges Sheff’s behavior led Friend to “suffer severe and permanent injuries.” The suit states Sheff drove his 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLE AMG 63 past a stop sign with two Nassau County Police Department officers following. Eventually, Sheff slammed into the front of one Alexa Friend’s Cadillac. The incident took place on Steamboat Road in Great Neck, New York.
After the crash, Sheff’s car skidded over 200 feet. Photos included in the lawsuit show the rapper’s luxury SUV knocking shrubs and street signs onto a lawn.

Alexia Friend “exited her car and observed that the vehicle continued traveling down Kings Point Road,” after the collision, according to Friend’s lawyer Marc Battipaglia. The car eventually “struck a tree, and was swarmed by police vehicles,” Battipaglia further stated in an October 26 motion.
Friend claims to hurt her neck, back, and right shoulder in the incident. She also alleged experiencing a tingling sensation down her right arm after Sheff G’s chase.
She testified, “After the impact, I saw that the other car had spun… and slid down the road. I got out of the car because of the shock. I didn’t know what happened.”
Department of Correction records show Sheff G currently resides on Rikers Island. However, according to Sheff, he can’t remain behind bars long.
“Freedom is a must… Sending my love to all my fans & supporters. I’ll be Bacc soon… FREE ME!” Sheff G published an Instagram story on November 12, 2021.
Sheff G’s July Case
Back in July, Sheff G already ended up in custody after reportedly being arrested in NYC. DJ Akademiks informed the public of the incident. He also posted information about Sheff’s next court date, all via Twitter.
Court documents and criminal complaints also include details of the arrests themselves. While searching Sheff G’s vehicle, police recovered a .45-caliber Glock with nine rounds intact. Eventually, Sheff had to face “three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and two traffic violations.”
Sheff G eventually pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. He was sentenced to two years on October 20. Though it’s unclear how or if new footage will affect his case, Friend’s lawsuit certainly takes no prisoners.
Three men have been charged in a shooting that targeted Young Dolph’s memorial service following his death on Wednesday. The attack took place yesterday, (Thursday, November 19) in South Memphis at Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies, the same shop where Dolph was murdered.
Jailon Nevis, 19, Travis McQueen, 22, and Terrence Jones, 23, were arrested Thursday and charged in connection with the attack on Dolph’s memorial. The list of charges against the men is extensive. Among the charges include possession of prohibited weapons, reckless endangerment, theft of property, unlawful possession of a weapon.
Terrance Jones, 23, Jailon Nelvis, 19, and Tavis McQueen, 22, were all arrested and charged in connection with this shooting.

At this time, Memphis PD is not linking these men with the killing of Young Dolph. A short statement on the Memphis PD’s Twitter post read, “There is no evidence that this shooting is related to the previous shooting”.
During the attack, one man was shot in the leg. According to the Memphis PD, the man’s condition is “non-critical”. Following the shooting, police pursued a gray Nissan Versa, thought to be the get-away vehicle for the shooters. The chase eventually ended when the Versa crashed. From there, the three men in question took off on foot. The affidavit claims that the three men threw their handguns away following the crash. Four handguns were found by police. Two were found on the road, while the others were found in a field and trash can.
As far as Dolph’s killing is concerned, no suspects have been been named, and no arrests made.
Just when we were hoping that the Danileigh and DaBaby drama would come to a head, it continues. Danileigh has now been charged with two counts of simple assault following the altercation with Dababy. On Sunday night, close to midnight, DaBaby called the police to his home. He accused Danileigh of hitting him during an altercation. According to Danileigh, DaBaby wanted her to leave the house, where they lived together for three months, with the two’s baby.
Accusations
According to DaBaby, Danileigh assaulted him on Sunday and also Monday. On Sunday, after the first altercation, DaBaby took the drama to social media to post a video of Danilegh, who was seen in the footage feeding their three-month-old daughter. DaBaby claimed that he recorded her for his protection. “You ain’t finna bring this black man down.”On that night, there was no arrest made. However, when the police returned Monday morning, responding to a disturbance, DaBaby told them that Danileigh had assaulted him. They decided that they had enough evidence to charge Danileigh with two simple counts of assault.
Drama Publicized
It seems as if Danileigh and DaBaby have been in the media nonstop since Sunday night. DaBaby was the first to make a statement, then Danileigh followed. The rapper said that Danileigh was nothing more than his side chick. Danileigh then came with receipts, proving that DaBaby was lying. A couple of hours ago, Danileigh posted a pic of her on a flight to her Instagram page. It’s safe to say that she has left the situation. She thanked everyone for their support in her post and let everyone know that she and the baby were safe.
Prosecutors in Miami-Dade County, Florida have dropped felony assault charges levied against rapper Polo G, TMZ reports. The three charges stemmed from an incident taking place in Miami last June.
Before today, Taurus Tremani Bartlett (Polo G) had been facing three felony counts of assault against an officer, as well as threatening a public servant. In addition to these, a separate criminal mischief misdemeanor was brought against him. This misdemeanor has been dropped as well. All dropped charges have been due to a lack of sufficient evidence.
As a final charge, prosecutors brought forth a charge of resisting an officer. However, this was reduced to a misdemeanor.
The arrest and charges of Polo G
In the early morning hours of June 12, Polo G was pulled over by multiple police officers. According to Polo G, those officers had been tailing him for sometime. This was following a release party for his 2021 album Hall of Fame. His younger brother was also in the car with him. Polo G’s mother, Stasia Mac, claimed on Twitter the police “stopped them because they were driving while Black.”
The Chicago rapper was released on $19,500 bail. He still faces two charges of resisting an officer without violence. It is unclear if these charges will also be dropped. No comment has been given by the Miami-Dade State Attorney.
Interestingly, Bradford Cohen, attorney for Polo G, has said that there is a way for the rapper to have all charges dropped. According to the lawyer, the rapper will enroll in anger management courses. Upon completion, Cohen says that remainder charges will be dropped. Again, no comment from Miami-Dade.
Legal problems aside, it has been quite a year for Polo G. His third studio album, Hall of Fame, dropped in just a day before his arrest, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Among the singles were the smash hits “Gang Gang” and the Hot 100-topper “RAPSTAR”.
