Tupac Estate Granted Motion To Dismiss Claims Of Ownership of Original Makaveli Painting

Tupac’s estate won the battle over the “Makaveli” painting. A judge granted a motion to dismiss claims against Tupac Shakur’s estate dealing with the ownership of the original “Makaveli” painting.

Pseudonym Makaveli

The original album cover painting is from Tupac Shakur’s “The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory,” but under the pseudonym “Makaveli.”

Tupac Estate Granted Motion

Zelus And Heritage Auctions In Collaboration With Riskie Forever

The original painting of the album artwork was to be auctioned with a chance to win percentage of the sales price. The company Zelus and Heritage Auctions in collaboration with Riskie Forever planned to auction the original album cover.

Amaru Entertainment wanted the auction shut down, and after an exchange of words the situation eventually had to go to court.

Zelus allegedly aims to revolutionize the way people interact with art and finance.

Who is Riskie Forever?

Artist Riskie Forever, also known as Ronald Brent, was introduced to Tupac by Suge Knight. His first project for Death Row was on Tupac’s “All Eyez On Me” album. They obviously liked what they saw and then Riskie got the opportunity to take part in “Makaveli: The 7 Day Theory.”

Tupac apparently walked the artist through his vision for what he envisioned the album cover would look like.

Tragically Tupac was never able to see or hear the reception he got from the album. But according to Riskie’s website, Tupac did see Riskie’s final product.

Case Dismissed By Judge

According to court documents obtained by the hip hop website, the judge dismissed the case without prejudice earlier this week. The Zelus group, Ronald Brent — who created the painting — and Leslie Ware wanted the judge to declare Ware the owner of the painting.

However, the court ruled it had no jurisdiction over Tupac’s estate and Amaru Entertainment.

Major Milestone Achieved In Late 2020

This coming after Tupac‘s estate achieved a major milestone a couple of years ago. His estate won a half of a decade battle over the Cali native’s unreleased music. The lawsuit claimed Entertainment One had breached a contract to pay Shakur’s royalties worth seven figures for “2007’s Beginnings: The Lost Tapes.”

The court ruled Entertainment One had to pay over six figures for royalties from Shakur’s posthumous releases.

Asian Doll Protects Chain From Fan Who Allegedly Tries To Snatch It

Asian Doll’s weekend was interesting to say the least. She was the target of an alleged robbery that didn’t go well for a fan, as a woman reportedly tried to snatch her chain in front of many witnesses. The woman lunged at Asian Doll but couldn’t get away with the diamond “Bratz” chain. Security immediately jumped into the situation, which was diffused shortly. The woman then went to social media to explain what happened between her and Asian Doll.

Asian Doll vs. Stan

The fan claims she only wanted to take a photo with the rapper. She adds that Asian Doll willingly let her touch her chain, which led her to tugging the chain, but she was not successful.  After this, Asian Doll took to Twitter to let everyone know what transpired that night. In the video, Asian Doll explains that she ran outside after the woman looking to fight her and that she beat the woman up with no one else helping her. The woman claimed that after she tried taking Asian Doll’s chain, she knocked the rapper to the ground.  The Dallas, Texas rapper reports this is false as there are too many people that are always watching her back for that to happen.

Let’s Do A Drill

Asian Doll is fresh off of her new mixtape, Let’s Do A Drill. The self-proclaimed “Queen of Drill” released her new project on July 22.  The 21-song mixtape features up and coming artists such as 2Rare, Dougie B, and Sosa Geek.  The singles from the project are “Nunnadet Shit,” “Get Jumped” and “Fell In Love,” which have been received well.

Asian Doll Inspires Erica Banks

Her name has also been involved in another recent situation.  She has nothing to do with this per se, but one of the artists that look up to her has been in the headlines. Fellow Texas rapper Erica Banks went to Atlanta’s Federick Douglass High School for a pep rally.  During the rally, she started twerking for the students, but not everyone liked it.  She was met by public backlash, but that didn’t faze her. Before she started rapping, Banks said Asian Doll was an inspiration to her.  Who knows, maybe, Asian Doll will take her under her wing.

Is Travis Scott Making a Comeback Since Astroworld Tragedy?

Travis Scott is set to make a comeback!  The Houston rapper headlined two concerts in London this past weekend.  It has been nine months since his Astroworld music festival.  Unfortunately, 10 attendees were killed with hundreds injured at that festival forcing Travis Scott to lay low for several months.  It’s hard for people to forget what happened that day.

Astroworld

In November 2021 at the NRG Park in Houston, Texas the Astroworld Festival took place.  With over 50,000 people in attendance, during Travis’s set, the crowd tried to rush towards the stage.  Rushing the stage caused many people to be stuck and out of breath.  Investigators of the incident named compression asphyxia as the cause of death for the 10 victims.  Compression asphyxia is where there is no respiration in your body because of external pressure.  Unfortunately, the concert still went on even with all the commotion leading people to questions Scott’s motives.

Performance in London

In front of 20,000 fans at the O2 Arena, Scott performed new songs from his next album, Utopia.  The album is set to have verses from Swae Lee, Bryson Tiller, and 21 Savage.  He even treated fans to a track featuring Kanye West.  The track titled, “God’s Country” was supposed to be on Kanye’s Donda album, but it never made it.  Scott also performed “Lost Forever”, featuring Westside Gunn and James Blake.  He debuted this song at the Billboard Music Awards earlier this year.

Travis Celebrates

After his show, he was met by his good friends NBA stars James Harden and Kevin Durant.  They embraced him and celebrated him for his first headlining show since Astroworld festival.  His wife, Kylie Jenner, and Stormi were also there to support him.  Kylie caught the celebration on camera and posted the trio to social media.  In the video, Travis can be seen shirt-off, yelling, and screaming banging his hand against the door.  James Harden joins him while Kevin Durant pops a bottle of champagne.  This video was met with criticism as fans thought he was being insensitive after what happened at his festival.  They said he is still “raging” and isn’t a good look.

With his fourth studio album in the works, people are wondering if Utopia will honor the victims of the Astroworld festival.  Fans feel he should at least mention it on the album.  Before the album, he has a residency at Las Vegas from September 17-October 15.  “Road to Utopia” consists of seven shows and will be at the Zouk nightclub.

Brandy Bottone Says Fetus Counts as Passenger in HOV Lane

Brandy Bottone is making a buzz on the internet lately. After being charged $215 for traveling in the HOV lane, the pregnant lady; concerned, argues, that her fetus is considered a passenger and is even taking the matter further. She’s not willing to lose money on something she disapproves of.

Short Biography

33-year-old Brandy is a well-known Event Planner and has tons of followers on social media. She eventually completed her studies and graduated from a private college in America. She’s happily married to Austin Bottone.

Brandy Incident

Long story short, Brandy was making her way to Dallas on June 29 and took the HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) – where typically 2 or more passengers are requested. Stopped at the checkpoint, the officer inquired about the other passenger.  As she mentioned to The Washington Post, the cop asked: “Is it just you or is someone else riding with you? “She pointed at her belly and claimed that are indeed 2 passengers traveling in the car. “I said, ‘Oh, there’s two of us,’” Bottone said. “And he said, ‘Where?’”

Being 34 weeks pregnant, the officer did not count it, unfortunately. He referred to 2 persons as being “outside the body” which is different in her case.

How Bottone is handling the case

So, she decided to take the matter to court and surprisingly, received a lot of support from women out there. Also, she said many women texted her and wanted to be part of this cause which is motivating. She hired a lawyer in fact to show that they’re indeed dealing with serious stuff here. Furthermore, the lady who’s originally from Texas is not only intending to fight her own case but wants to establish new rules. These established laws will allow pregnant women to travel in that lane.

The real issue with Texas is that it considers a fetus as a person but its transport system code does not. Already, the state is banning abortion, now with her case, things might seem harder than ever.

Fact : Texas is among the 13 states to had “trigger bans” when it comes to abortion.

This debate is going to last around for a while as she is expecting her delivery on Aug 3. Well, to know more, we have to patiently wait for the 20th July, for her first tribunal session.

Texas Legislator Proposes Bill To Ban Drag Shows From Minors

Texas has made its way further down the naughty list. In light of recent events that happened in the lone star state, Texas State Legislator Representative Bryan Slaton has proposed a new bill that proposes to ban minors from attending drag shows in the state. The proposal comes from a viral video showing kids at a drag show that was deemed family-friendly. Protestors believe that it is a knock-off of a Champagne Drag Brunch. Kids were allowed to dance with the performers on stage, hence the comparison.

Videos of The Drag Shows

Other than dancing with children, another video shows the Drag Queens taking dollar bills from children, dancing with them and walking down the aisle in the center of the room. There was also a sign that read “It’s not gonna lick itself!” Slaton then went on Twitter to express his thoughts on the “horrifying” event. “The events of this past weekend were horrifying and show a disturbing trend in which perverted adults are obsessed with sexualizing young children,” Slaton said. “I will be filing legislation to address this issue in the new #txlege.” See the full tweet below.

Productive conversations about the topic are currently happening and will see if the bill would be passed in the near future.

Other Texas Laws

Along with this proposed bill, Texas recently passed its controversial anti-abortion law. The law gave Texas a whole new look, even having artists almost not go through with their scheduled shows. At the Austin City Limits Music Festival last year, headliner Billie Eilish spoke about the law during her set and expressed that she almost didn’t want to perform at the festival after the law was passed. She continued to say that it is not the people within the state, but the court system itself. “But then I remembered it’s you guys who are the fucking victims and you guys deserve everything in the world. And we need to tell them to shut the fuck up! My body, my fucking choice,” said Eilish.

Slaton also requested to ban gender transitioning for minors last year. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services now treats sex-change surgeries for minors as child abuse. This includes chemical procedures, mastectomies and transition counseling.

 A still-developing case

In darker news, Yella Beezy was recently arrested after being accused of felony sexual assault. The currently pending case is in reference to an alleged incident from last year. According to Beezy, the case is nothing more than an empty charge.

“I got arrested for a ticket and the D.A. went off my bond and raised it to $1,000,000 (some unheard of shit),” he posted last month (May 28).

“But that case about to get dismissed ain’t no second charge!!!! Where do y’all get y’all information from?” He concluded.

This recent event comes after a particularly shocking November 2021 arrest, in which the 30-year-old was hit with several serious charges. These include felony sexual assault, felony abandoned endangered child, and misdemeanor unlawful carrying of a weapon. After being put into custody, he was subsequently released on bond.

As Yella Beezy continues to deny these allegations, he appears to be working hard in the studio lately on a new project.

2 Chainz Disses Politicians After Uvalde, TX School Massacre

“Man, I’ve been listening to some of you politicians and some of y’all n-ggas dumb as fuck, like stupid as fuck,” 2 Chainz said in a social media clip. He was responding to some politician’s commentary about the unfortunate murders of roughly 19 children & two adults at a Texas elementary school on Tuesday (May 24). He brings up a good point about how intelligence can be wrongly perceived. Like Chainz, a few other artists are speaking out on politics following the tragedy. Texas Congressman Blames Rap Uvalde Shooting

The politician Ronny Jackson thinks Hip-Hop’s impact on children is absolutely negative. He says, “And I just think that kids are exposed to all kinds of horrible stuff nowadays, too. I look back and I think about the horrible stuff that they hear when they listen to rap music…” While Hip-Hop isn’t a perfect genre, it’s sad to see how it’s unfairly used negatively. News outlets make rap music a target all the time and cover the genre poorly. Do you think there’s any truth in his reasoning? Watch Ronny Jackson’s full interview on Fox:

Do You Agree With 2 Chainz & His Stance On Politicians?

2 Chains disses politicians while bringing up a valid point and argument. There is the perception many people share about suits being equal to smarts. That’s not the case between 2 Chainz pointing it out & a congressman blaming Hip-Hop for the Texas school shooting. Chainz speaks for a large majority of people with the same problems as politicians. Ted Cruz, another politician, thinks the answer is easier than it actually is. “That n-gga Ted, Ted Cruz said God damn lock the back door next time. He said to prevent what happened, have the back door locked,” Chainz directed at Ted Cruz. Read more of FM Hip-Hop’s featured articles today.

Ice-T Responds To Fan Who Accuses Him Of Promoting Gun Violence

The news of the Robb Elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas this Tuesday left the entire country in mourning.

Many artists expressed their condolences to the families of the victims, as well as giving their opinions on the situation.

This Wednesday, rapper and songwriter Ice-T used the social network Twitter to show his anger towards the attacker.

“I haven’t commented on the Shooting,” stated Ice-T. “I still can’t get my head around why MFs wanna kill innocent Children.”

A User Not So Pleased With Ice-T

Although many people supported the rapper’s comment, others simply did not.

A Twitter user responded to the Ice-T’s post by making the suggestion that he is a hypocrite for talking again gun violence and still mentioning in his songs, especially for his controversial song Cop Killer.

This Tweet caught the eye of the artist, who calmly replied with four simple words: “Please eat more D***s”

Minutes later, Ice-T responded with another Tweet in which he laughs at those people who criticize him because of his age.

Why is Cop Killer So Polemical?

Body Count Radio EP.jpg
Single by Body Count.

The 1992 single “Cop Killer” made by Ice-T together with his heavy metal band, Body Count is still causing surprise to every new listener. but why?

Well, such a bold song shows the listener a fantasy about revenge against police brutality in the most direct and strongest way possible.

The controversy reached such a level that CLEAT (Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas) and police organizations joined together in protest against the band and the banning of the track and the album from stores.

Some time later and after making a deal with Warner Bros., Ice-T agreed to remove the song from the album.

Until this day, the song remains unavailable on legal streaming platforms, except YouTube.

*The FM HipHop team offers our deepest condolences and solidarity to the parents of the victims of the massacre that occurred in Uvalde, Texas.*

Quinta Brunson Talks Abbott Elementary Amidst Uvalde Mass Shooting Fallout

After the tragic mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, that left 19 children and two teachers dead, people are sharing their thoughts via social media. Some of these people reached out to Abbott Elementary creator, writer, and actress Quinta Brunson. They flooded her DMs and Twitter replies, asking her to make an episode of the show about a school shooting to raise awareness. However, this caused discomfort for Brunson and fans of the show.

Brunson then posted a screenshot of one of the messages she received. The message contained a suggestion for the future series finale. The person whose name, Quinta censored, suggested a school shooting episode would “get our government to understand why laws need to pass.” Abbott Elementary is a lighthearted show about an underfunded and predominantly Black school in Philadelphia. The show centers around a small group of staff figuring out a way to run the school on a budget. Fans look to the show as burst of joy and Black representation.

Quinta Further Expresses Concern

The shooting at Uvalde is the 213th mass shooting of the year. It also happened  after last week’s racially motivated mass shooting  in Buffalo. “Please use that energy to ask your elected official to get on Beto [O’Rourke] time, and nothing less. I’m begging you. I don’t want to sound mean, but I want people to understand the flaw in asking for something like this. We’re not okay. This country is rotting our brains. I’m sad about it,” said Brunson. Her Beto reference seemed to refer to Beto O’Rourke showing up to Gov. Greg Abbott’s press statement about the shooting.

Stars Lisa Ann Walter and Sheryl Lee Ralph also reacted to the shooting. “Now I lay me down to sleep and all I can think about is the families who lost a child today in another senseless act of gun violence! When will enough be ENOUGH?!?!” posted Ralph.
