The Did Shit To Me video begins with Lil Durk squatting in front of the camera and Doodie Lo standing in the background. A cloud of smoke hovers between the two of them. The beat drops and the camera switches between two all-black cars racing through the streets and Lil Durk with Doodie Lo turning up with friends.

Between shots, Lil Durk is seen flashing stacks of cash, iced-out jewelry, and relaxing in a Ferrari. Doodie Lo is making Syrup; an intoxicating drink. Some camera shots show a group of people rolling dice. The entire Did Shit To Me video sticks to its roots of being street.

The Lyrics To Did Shit To Me

The song starts with an intro by Lil Durk, who uses the intro to talk about his million-dollar jewelry and fast cars. He also talks about his brothers being killers.

“Million dollars of jewelry on/ you know what I’m saying?/All fast cars outside”- Lil Durk (Did Shit To Me)

Next, Lil Durk takes the first verse. He talks about going to court and his homeboy being locked up. Lil Durk states how he only has faith in his gun and no one else.

“I don’t even trust my b**ch, I just trust my switch/ I don’t even trust my auntie, uncle, cousins, I don’t be trusting s**t”- Lil Durk (Did Shit To Me)

After, the chorus comes on. Doodie Lo and Lil Durk take turns rapping lines. They brag about each other.

The two continue taking turns rapping on the second verse.

“Why that nigga lying inside his verse? He ain’t did shit to me” – Lil Durk “

“And my shorties caught him, he was loafing, that was for the free” -Doodie Lo

The contrast between the two rappers forces the listener’s ears to be interested. Doodie and Durk create a captivating moment in the song. Finally, the song ends after the chorus plays again.

“They ain’t never did s**t to me/They ain’t never did s**t to me”- Lil Durk/ Doodie Lo (Did Shit To Me)

Lil Durk Calls Out Man For Fighting Woman At His Concert

During the Bridgeport, CT leg of his tour, Lil Durk had to step in when an altercation between a man and a woman broke out during the concert. The rapper stopped to acknowledge the fight, saying “I just seen the most craziest sh-t in the crowd, man.” He further addressed the audience, “I just seen a n—a tryna fight a girl, man. Slow down, bro, you know? Where is he at? Who just tried to fight a girl, man?” The rapper, clearly disturbed by the man’s actions, continued to express his disdain while concertgoers recorded the moment on their phones.

Aye bro, why you tryna fight girls, bro? I should come over there and fuck you up. Yeah. We really like that for sure. I’d make your ass apologize right now. Deadass and you a hoe. You a hoe.

The Aftermath Of The Incident

Hours later, The Shade Room posted video of the shocking moment. A man, claiming to be the one involved in the altercation, commented, claiming he was protecting his girlfriend. The commenters seemed to support the man in question. However, other Lil Durk fans defended him, asking “how was he supposed to know the situation?” Regardless, the two reactions seem to support the anti-violence in Durk’s message while acknowledging the man at the concert may have been doing something good.

Outside this incident, it’s been a successful tour promoting a successful album. 7220 came out on March 11. It became the first of Durk’s albums to chart for this long on the Billboard 200. As for the tour, there are only a handful of stops left. Durk will be in Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Chicago through May.

Lil Durk Compares Himself To Steph Curry After Excellent 7220 Sales

The results are in: 7220 is a hit. Lil Durk is getting real cocky and absolutely has the numbers to back it up.

Durk does it again

7220 dropped on all streaming services on March 11th and was met with great reception. Durk’s seventh studio album comes at a peak time of his career. The Chicago rapper is gaining accolades and accomplishments by the second, and 7220 is just another mark on the list.

While 2021’s The Voice Of The Heroes is technically Durk’s first No. 1 album, 7220 is his first solo effort to claim the title. Blogger DJ Akademiks shared  last week (Mar. 19) that 7220 had sold a stunning 120k units in its first week.

A No. 1 solo album is a highly sought-after accomplishment for any artist, and it’s well deserved for the Englewood emcee. Durk’s presence in the rap game has been truly growing since the success of his 2019 album Love Songs 4 the Streets 2. His signature mix of singing and rapping easily set him apart from his contemporaries and obviously continues to now. With co-signs from big names in hip hop discourse, especially Kanye and Drake, Lil Durk is on the track to stardom.

Upon learning of these stats Durkio hopped on Twitter to flex his muscles. He likened himself to Steph Curry who’s particularly known for his amazing shooting record. With his recent run, we can’t say he’s wrong for the comparison.

“ I can’t miss I’m like steph fr,” he typed.

What’s your favorite track from 7220? You can stream the album on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, and YouTube now.

If you thought Durk was done, he just released a new track; “Computer Murders.” This track is presumably a response to opps and slick dissing.

Lil Baby’s ‘My Turn’ Set A Record After Spending Weeks On The Billboard Charts

Lil Baby’s album My Turn continues to do well. It came out in February 2020 and hit No.1 on the Billboard 200. After staying on the charts for five weeks, it went triple platinum. To keep things rolling, the Atlanta native hit us with the deluxe edition in May 2020.

‘My Turn’ by Lil Baby Accumulated Major Success

On Mar 17, Billboard said the album broke a 55-year-old record. My Turn remained in the top 10 of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for 85 weeks. Since 1965, this is the only album to have spent this long at the top of this chart. Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding held the record with 84 weeks before Lil Baby broke it. Overall, My Turn spent 106 weeks on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. This project had several hits in the top 10, including “Woah,” “Sum 2 Prove”, “Heatin’ Up,” and “The Bigger Picture.”

On Instagram, Lil Baby made a post saying “My turn again,” following fire emojis.

Even though Lil Baby is enjoying his success, he said he might release another full-length album this summer. The rapper will release a music video every few weeks before his release.

Lil Durk’s ‘7220’ and King Von’s Death

Baby’s announcement comes right after Lil Durk’s album 7220, which came out on Mar 11. Morgan Wallen, Future, Gunna, and Summer Walker, appear on his seventh studio album. 7220 is Durk’s grandmother’s street address and reflects a tough year. Since the death of King Von, the Chicago native has been locked in a war against NBA YoungBoy. Von was shot and killed outside of a hookah lounge in Atlanta in 2020 after a fight with Quando Rondo‘s team.

Post Malone, now Lil Baby? Let’s see which artist will break the record for the most extended stay on the charts next.

Lil Durk Taunts Opps With New Track “Computer Murders”

Despite just releasing his new album less than two weeks ago, Lil Durk returns with new music. In the wee hours of March 18th, Durk released a visual for the track Computer Murders after posting a clip of the song on his Instagram story with the caption, “N****s pissed me off again.”

The caption is in reference to a prior released single off his 7220 album, Pissed Me Off. Unlike Pissed Me Off which addressed members of his crew, Computer Murders seems to be speaking to his opposition. With the recent murders of OTF’s King Von and FBG’s, FBG Duck (who was allegedly murdered by OTF members per a federal indictment), provoking social media posts between the gangs have only increased.

Durk begins with taunting FBG Wooski, who survived being shot in the head while at a funeral in 2018.

Lil Durk redirects his anger at another FBG member, FBG Cash, who has been trending for posting a picture on Instagram of him posing in front of the King Von mural in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago. Durk raps:

Ѕnеаkіng рісѕ bу Vоn murаl-lіkе lіl’ brо wоn’t соmе оut аnd ѕріn

Will The War Ever End?

Lil Durk doesn’t ever seem to shy away from any static, but you begin to wonder at what level of fame do outgrow local neighborhood beef? Would we even know any FBG members if no OTF member ever mentioned them? That is unknown, but what is certain is that Durk’s popularity and success has only increased alongside his opposition. Listeners appear to relish the drama depiction with the music. Unfortunately, what comes along with this drama depiction are real life losses and mourning.

Lil Durk Hints That ‘Computer Murders’ Diss Track Is Coming: “N**gas Pissed Me Off Again”

On Friday, Mar. 11, Lil Durk released his highly anticipated seventh studio album, 7220. Additionally, as expected, the project is receiving positive feedback on social media. Most likely, Lil Durk is seeking positive reactions to this project. Nevertheless, it appears that something is troubling him.

Moreover, in an Instagram story posted on Tuesday, Mar. 15, Lil Durk announced that there is more music coming. As fans can see in the picture, there appears to be an audio file with the name “Computer Murders.” It seems that song is on someone’s phone. Durk stated that it looks like the song may represent a diss record.

“N**gas pissed me off again,” Durk wrote in the Story.

Is Lil Durk Referring to Who he is Angry with in the Post?

Lil Durk did not make a specific reference to who upset him. However, in light of the recent events between him and NBA YoungBoy, fans speculate that this might indeed be the case. Last week, during the promotional period for Durk’s album, the last shot was fired between the feuding rappers.

Furthermore, before the release of 7220, many people noticed a billboard off Washington Street, Exit 156A in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Therefore, money was etched on the billboard to display the words “Durk Better.” Nevertheless, in Chicago, a “YoungBoy Never Broke Again” billboard proclaiming “YB vs. Everybody” appeared depicting YoungBoy’s Colors mixtape.

A Hit Song From 7220 Has A New Music Video

In relation to the billboard, Lil Durk has not responded. However, the 7220 breakout hit “Barbarian” accompanied a new music video. Lil Durk finds himself reflecting on his rise to fame in the video. In addition to the rewards, he has reaped from his involvement in hip hop. The Jerry Production-directed visual includes his family and friends.

“7220” By Lil Durk: The Review

“The Voice” Lil Durk is back with a vengeance. After plenty of hype, his new album “7220″ has also arrived. So how does it stack up?

Coming Into A “7220” Era

Lil Durk has finally released his seventh studio album “7220” (Mar 11). The highly anticipated record, named after his grandmother’s Chicago address, comes after the rapper’s massive boost in popularity. Since his last solo project, “The Voice,” Durk has grabbed both a Drake and Kanye feature and his first No. 1 album. In addition to those accomplishments, he’s made great strides in his personal life. He proposed to his longtime girlfriend India Royale during the Chicago Big Jam Concert back in December. It’s clear to see the Chi native is going through a massive transitional period.

So does the music reflect this? Or does Durk stick to his old guns on “7220?”

Durk’s Family & Foes

We start off with an emotional intro track, “Started From.” Here Durkio sets the stage for the rest of the album. The song packs deeply personal details like his grandmother’s health and father’s prison bid.

“Granny got Alzheimer’s, but I can’t forget how she kept it real.”

“And I barely talked to my uncle, I’m talkin’ ’bout my mama brothers/And my daddy brother wasn’t here for us, but I still love him.”

A vivid picture is painted of Durk’s family and upbringing. It’s a story of struggle, adversity, but also forgiveness. “Started From” is a definitive mood setter for a more mature album yet to come.

“Headtaps” then continues the theme of family and the journey of growing up. We learn about Durk’s relationship with his late uncle and how he copes with that loss. The Englewood artist is all too familiar with the feeling of grief, and that resonates in the final few bars.

“Lost my cousin, that’s not okay

Lost my brother, that’s not okay

Miss my dog, and that’s not okay.”

This refers to the tragic passing of his cousin Lil Mister in 2019 and brother DThang last year. Behind the hard exterior of the Chicago, the drill is a sense of sadness that’s perfectly captured in “Headtaps.”

Durk’s Conflict

“7220” takes a hard left with the diss track “AHHH HA.” The song serves as a lead single for the album and response to NBA Youngboy. The two rappers have had tension since the 2020 November passing of King Von. They’ve been exchanging shots for months, and there’s seemingly no end in sight. Check out FMHipHop’s previous analysis of the single!

The violent content of “7220” is more impactful when the consequences are seen in real-time. “Shootout @ my crib” is a haunting track that references a home invasion that occurred at Durk’s Georgia residence in July last year. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation statement, the famous couple and unknown intruders exchanged gunfire early Sunday morning. Along with real-life weaving stories, we get a glimpse into how Lil Durk copes with his dangerous lifestyle. It’s a mix of bravado and seriousness that he’s perfected at this stage of his career.

Never Too Serious

“Golden Child,” “No Interviews,” and “Petty Too” play on that classic rapper braggadocios nature. We see Durk utterly aware of his increased status and openly flexing it. The young artist is clearly proud of himself, and it’s an infectious feeling.

“Like Kodak said, take a Percocet, nigga, everybody turn gremlin/And you know I’m winnin’ when I drop shit, nigga, everybody in my mentions.”

“Barbarian” isn’t a particularly standout song aside from one bar that’s going viral. Listen to the composition and see if you can guess which line has caught everyone off-guard.

The Emotional Side Of Durk

“7220” starts to wind down with “What Happened to Virgil.” The song effortlessly incorporates the slow melodic style that cemented Durk into the rap scene. Gunna makes an appearance and heightens the already stellar track. “Grow up/Keep it on Speaker” shows off Smurk’s incredible natural talent for melody. The same can be said for “Smoking & Thinking,” which has a pretty piano backdrop that compliments the sentimental feeling of the track.

“I’m just smokin’, why y’all let him die? I can’t believe y’all/I’m just smokin’, I’m just ridin’, smokin.”

One trend Durk doesn’t let go of is his outspoken love for India Royale. “Difference is” utilizes RnB juggernaut Summer Walker to bring an intimate feel to the album. “Blocklist” similarly introduces feelings of loyalty and learning from one’s mistakes. It’s a highly refreshing take on the topic of love in the world of rap. Unlike many rappers of his caliber, he explicitly mentions his girl by name several times throughout the album. It aids in making the love songs feel natural and not simply tacked on to appeal to a female audience.

The Last “7220” Stretch

The last few songs on “7220” are a mostly positive mixed bag.

“Love Dior Banks” contains perhaps the best moment on the album. The daughter of Durk’s late brother Dthang makes a cameo, and despite its brevity, the emotional impact is present.

“I love my daddy, I miss my daddy

He was so special to me

He took me shopping, bought me everything

I follow his footsteps and bigger dreams

That’s my daddy, that’s my king.”

The short rhyme leads into the song, which bluntly addresses how life gives no promises. “Federal Nightmares” touches on those same subjects in addition to suicidal thoughts and childhood trauma. It can be difficult as a listener to digest this type of content, but Durk raps with so much honesty you have no choice but to respect it.

“Pissed Me Off” has that signature rough Chicago drill feel that first launched the 29-year-old to fame. It’s no wonder it was chosen as a single. It’s easy to imagine this song blasting out a Hellcat or playing at everyone’s kick back this summer.

The “Broadway Girls” Doesn’t Match With “7220”

The project comes to a close with “Broadway Girls.” It’s a controversial collaboration with country star Morgan Wallen. In February last year, the Tennessee celeb came under fire for using the n-word in a leaked video. He was allegedly intoxicated during the incident. Nevertheless, that wouldn’t make the situation any better. His reputation took a hit, obviously amongst black listeners in particular. This is what makes “Broadway Girls” such an odd pair up, and fans took notice.

Frankly, The song itself isn’t anything awful. It has a beat Durk can easily ride and a catchy hook. However, the rigid pop structure of the music doesn’t allow the rapper to flex his skills. It almost feels like a track that belongs on Wallen’s album, not Durk’s.

Social Media Reacts

Lil Durk also has a famously loyal fan base. “7220” received an overwhelmingly positive reaction from fans and fellow Chicago artist Polo G.

https://twitter.com/smurkiojay/status/1502172816531095552?s=21

https://twitter.com/averageguy205/status/1502147834639884299?s=21

“7220” is projected to sell 120-130k units according to a Hits Daily Double report. Lil Durk is also currently occupying all 17 top spots on US Apple Music. This drop is undeniably a big success and a win for the soon-to-be Chicago legend. Not only is he taking leaps in his life behind the scenes, but he’s also taking all the suitable musical risks to match.

Lil Durk Drops Final Single For 7220 and Announces Free Bitcoin To Celebrate

As the buildup for Lil Durk‘s new album 7220 continues, the rapper dropped the fourth and final single before its release on Friday. The visual for the song, titled Golden Child, was also released on Thursday. Check out the video below.

The video sees Durk hanging with members of his OTF crew while flexing stacks of cash. To hype up the release of 7220, Durk asked fans to drop their cashapp handles on Twitter and announced his plans to give away $7,220 in bitcoin to celebrate.

Durk and NBA YoungBoy clash before 7220

Lyrically, Golden Child is devoid of any mention of Lil Durk’s ongoing feud with NBA YoungBoy. The beef between the two stars has heated up amidst the hype for their respective projects. Recently, rumors began to circulate that YoungBoy might sabotage Durk’s release with an album of his own on Friday.

However, the Chicago rapper announced on Instagram that anyone who wants to drop on March 11 is welcome to. Durk also included a shoutout to his friend, the late King Von. Von’s posthumous release, What It Means to be King, moved 65,000 units in its first week.

The late artist’s drop wasn’t without its own controversy, however. Youngboy seemingly attempted to sabotage Von’s release by dropping a collab with DaBaby. The track, titled BETTER THAN YOU,  only moved around 30,000 units.

It’s no surprise that YoungBoy has been coming for Durk and OTF. This has been apparent since the release of his diss track I Hate YoungBoy on February 22, where he called out Durk, Von and even Gucci Mane. The track was created in response to the lead single of 7220, titled AHH HA, where Durk had words for YoungBoy and his ex-girlfriend.

Durk also dropped the tracklist for 7220 via social media on Wednesday. The album is slated to have 17 tracks and include features from Summer Walker, Gunna, Future and even country star Morgan Wallen.
