Lupe Fiasco Releases New Album Drogas Wave

Salutations and blessings from above FM Trendsetters! In midst of the 12th anniversary of his classic debut album, “Food and Liquor“, conscious Chicago emcee Lupe Fiasco releases another conscious and truth filled memoir entitled “Drogas (Spanish term for “drugs”) Wave“. This album was released a few days ago and embarks on a journey through the concept of slavery, drugs, violence, and new found freedom in comparison with the perception of these subjects to this day, within the music industry and the world. This concept is embodied in the album art of a manilla, a bracelet-like form of currency used in the African slave trade with Portugal, and its shadow. Lupe draws a parallel between the manillas and African American culture throughout the album . The artist’s relationship with God also plays a beneficial factor, as he expresses concerns and disdain within his reflective and prominent lyricism. Jay-Z and Beyoncé Release Surprise Collabo Album

Salutations FM Trendsetters! The royal family of Hip Hop is back! Since Jay-Z’s Bonnie and Clyde 02 and Beyoncé’s debut album Dangerously In Love, we been following these two conglomerate artists, hoping one day they would have a collaboration album. That day was Saturday, June 16th 2018. Surprisingly, with no promotion. This has been a very big weekend in Hip Hop altogether. Nas released an album, completely produced by Kanye West, the day before and now the Carters. The prayers of the infamous Bey-hive has been answered! Not to mention, Blue Ivy also made a cute appearance between songs on interludes, in which brought more substance and definition to the feel of the album. The producer list for the tracks was astonishing, ranging from long collaborative producer Pharrell Williams to Boi1da. With appearances like Migos. The following is a track by track review of the critically acclaimed Everything Is Love album by The Carters.

Nas Releases New Album Nasir

Salutations FM Trendsetters!!!! Despite media and social media controversy (e.g. Kanye West’s remarks on slavery, Kanye’s infamous TMZ interview and confrontation), the self-proclaimed Louis Vutton Don released a few critically acclaimed seven-track albums. One of those albums, previously mentioned through a series of tweets, is that of a Queensbridge legend and patriarch, Nas. Nas released his 11th studio album, Nasir on Friday, June 15th. However, general release of the project, due to management discrepancies and changes, was Saturday morning.

#FreshJuice Squeegie-O – Born Loser | @SqUeEgIe_O

Soooo….I woke up on this beautiful holiday morning to this album from Squeegie-O in my email addy and decided to check this out….and got completely wowed.

Born Loser is the first full length LP from the Staten Island MC. Now, you may think that with an album name like that, it’s one of them emo goth hip hop joints, but it’s far from it. It speaks of one man’s cinematic and biographic coming of age tale of hitting rock bottom and climbing their way out somehow. With the production of the album beautifully executed throughout, it’s a honest stream of consciousness breaking Squeegie-O’s life struggles down to the bare bones; a reflection of someone who fell from grace and lived to tell the whole story.

The album is a musical wonderland of some sorts. With tracks such as “Zany Marley” and “Super Blunt Bros.”, containing nostalgic samples that left me in my bed with my mouth gaped open followed by a few chuckles afterwards.

Brilliant storytelling, vocal dexterity and along with some trap elements within the album, the soulful boom-bap grooves are the main components of this project. Squeegie-O’s versatile Born Loser embodies the true essence of the phrase, “Sometimes you have to lose in order to win.”

Born Loser features appearances from Jamez Dean, Leeanne London, Jodi Dareal, Seemore Bluntz, Mello Melodiez, Tyrone Briggs, Ashley collier, The Rebel, Pais, Q Williams, King of Spade and Agent Blurrr. Way too many producers to name for responsibility of album’s creation, but they all get 10 gold stars across the board.

Like Folgers in your cup, it was the best part of waking up to. You can cop the album, out now on bandcamp and all digital streaming sites.
