Doja Cat Emerge-Winner At The 2022 Billboard Music Awards

Many celebrities attended the 2022 Billboard Music Awards at the Las Vegas MGM Grand Garden Arena together with Doja Cat. The Weeknd, Travis Scott, and Morgan Wallen came together to glitz and glamour the event. Still, the event’s highlight was Doja with her talent and her most talked-about style statement.

Doja Cat Wins In Four Billboard Categories

Doja Cat’s album “Planet Her” bagged the singer the top R&B artist, R&B female artistand the best R&B album nominations. Overall, she was nominated for 14 categories, including all the above and the top viral song (“Kiss Me More”). She continued her winning spree in four categories.

Doja Cat’s Red Carpet Look

It was her talent but also Doja’s red carpet look that garnered the most attention. She wore a black, angular, chest-baring Schiaparelli gown with a sheer beige chest wrap worn over Agent Provocateur gold metallic pasties. Her accessories include a matching gold metallic Saturn-shaped purse, and a pair of gilded ear-shaped earrings adorned with several others.

Doja wore a set of nail rings designed by Bijules: black heels, a gold foot-shaped toe cap, and silver toenails. The world-famous rapper styled her hair in a sleek high ponytail. On uncovering her nipples on the Billboard Music award red carpet, she said, “You can have them out, and it’s not a crime.”

Thanking The Fans

After winning at the Billboard Awards, Doja Cat also thanked her fans, saying, “I’m very grateful, and I’m excited to see more people win.” The artist also mentioned she feels “wonderful to be here tonight with everybody, and, yeah, thank you, mom, and, yeah, that’s it.’

Doja’s Music Trajectory

Doja Cat’s trajectory to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 is unique. She had her first hit, “Say So,” coming in collaboration with Nicki Minaj. Dr. Luke, one of the most successful producers in pop, signed Doja, but the internet really made her hugely popular. Earlier this year, the artist also won her first Grammy. Doja Cat and SZA’s “Kiss me more” single shared the best pop duo/group performance award.

Drake Is Now King Of The Billboard Awards

The 2022 Billboard Awards happened in Las Vegas yesterday and Diddy was the host!  The industry’s biggest artists are celebrated on this night across all genres.  Doja Cat had 14 nominations, more than all female artists while The Weeknd had 27 nominations, more than all male artists.  Doja Cat won Top R&B Female Artist.  The Weeknd won Top R&B Male Artist.  Kanye West walked away with some hardware as well.  He received the awards for Top Christian Artist, Top Gospel Artist, Top Gospel Song, Top Christian Song and Top Christian Album.   Ye and Drake both took home five awards.

King of Billboard

Drake’s Certified Lover Boy was the Top Rap Album.  He also walked away with Top Artist, Top Rap Artist, and Top Male Artist.  This makes him the most decorated artist in the history of the awards.  He has won 34 Billboard trophies throughout his career.  The Grammy award winning artist faced stiff competition in every category he was in.  For Top Artist, he faced off against Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd.  He was able to beat out Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Lil Nas X, and The Weeknd for Top Male Artist.

Although he is used to winning, the champ has to take an L sometimes.  He lost to Taylor Swift for the Top Billboard 200 Artist and Olivia Rodrigo for the Top Hot 100 Artist.  The latter included nominees Doja Cat, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd.  Olivia Rodrigo beat out Drizzy again for Top Streaming Songs Artist.  Drake was able to have two songs in the Top Rap Song category with “Knife Talk” and “Way 2 Sexy” but couldn’t come up with the victory.  Lil Nas X’s “Industry Baby” was the winner instead.

Drake Keeps Winning

Yesterday, Drake cashed in on over $2.5 million on sports betting!  He bet over a quarter million dollars that the New York Rangers would eliminate the Pittsburgh Penguins from the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.  He also bet that the Dallas Mavericks would upset the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Western Conference Semifinals.  This should erase the lost he took when he lost $550,000 betting on UFC fight.  Drake is a known bettor as he won over $2 million betting on the Super Bowl back in February.  He is also a partner in Stake.com, a sports betting and casino platform.

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Crusade Against “Uncanceling”

Anger sells, ask P Diddy. In his promotional Instagram video for the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, the artist angrily claims he is to “do whatever” he wants to.

For some reason, Diddy’s triumph-of-the-will Instagram speech also has multiple bleep sounds. The video’s captions also repetitively say “$@#%” instead of “fuck” or, at least, “f*ck.”

A post shared by LOVE (@diddy)

Was self-censoring the first thing Diddy truly wanted to do since realizing he had the right?

Unfortunately, Diddy’s motivational promotion doesn’t give any answers. “End of discussion,” the artist claims in the clip instead. “Meet me at the Billboard Awards, okay?”

“Love & Forgiveness” For Travis Scott

This is not the only questionable statement Puff Daddy released lately. Just a couple of days before his Instagram proclamations, Sean “Diddy” Combs had preached on REVOLT Black News. “I’m uncanceling the canceled,” he shepherded. “There will be no canceling on my watch. Love is about forgiveness.”

While that “uncanceling” thing with its “love and forgiveness” indeed sounds like a good time, there’s a nuance. “It was important for me to have Travis Scott perform [at the Billboard Music Awards],” Diddy revealed at the end of his Biblical speech. “It’s going to be a great night.”

In case you forgot, Travis Scott had a horrendous concert show in Houston back in November. The show ended up with a stampede, where 10 people died. Overall, 4,900 people were allegedly injured and are now coming against Travis Scott in a class-action lawsuit.

https://twitter.com/LAPIIZUU/status/1526040912245268480?s=20&t=-R3ec302MfopjGleyyabjA

Is it going to be “a great night” for the family of 9-year-old Ezra Blount, who died in a coma after the concert tragedy? Do nine more families, who’ve lost their loved ones, think it’s time to offer “love and forgiveness” for Travis Scott again? Why would anyone even believe it’s okay to “make a demand” like this after the previous “great night” killed a dozen of people?

Diddy’s Footprints

Another “great show” occurred in Dec 1991, during a basketball game at the City University of New York. Back then, Diddy’s performance led to nine people’s deaths and 29 injuries.

The court ruled that Puff Daddy is liable for the deadly stampede, together with the late Heavy D and the City University of New York. “By closing the only open door giving access to the gym, Combs’ forces … were fully aware of the crowd uncontrollably pouring down the stairwell,” the judge explained. “[Combs’ forces intentionally] created something akin to a ‘dike,’ forcing the people together like ‘sardines,’ squashing out life’s breath from young bodies.”

“There is not a day that passes that I do not regret,” Diddy tearfully proclaimed after the verdict. “But my pain is nothing compared to what the victims’ families have had to face.”

Glad to know that we now live in a new world. The world where the third richest hip-hop artist and the supposed role model for millions of people have changed their perceptions so radically. Thanks to the issue of “uncanceling,” which turns out to be so important, it makes it okay to rub victims’ families’ faces in “love and forgiveness.”

Read about Diddy allegedly snitching on his friends to avoid a prison sentence.

Doja Cat And SZA Win First Grammy, Doja Gets Emotional

The Grammys aired Sunday night, and it was a memorable night for quite a few stars. Doja Cat and SZA won a Grammy for their smash pop hit, “Kiss Me More” in the Best Pop Duo Performance category. The song spent an impressive number of weeks at the top of the Billboard charts. The pair was up against some of the biggest names in the industry, including BTS, Justin Bieber, and Coldplay.

Canadian pop-punk royalty Avril Lavigne presented the award. SZA had some difficulty getting to the stage as she was rocking a long gown, stilettos, and crutches. Doja on the other hand came back from her bathroom break just in time. She joked about this at the start of her speech while adjusting her gown. However, despite being known for her goofy nature, she gave the audience one of the most sincere moments of the night. “Thank you to everybody, my team, my family. SZA you are everything to me, you are incredible. A talent, you’re a lyricist, you’re everything,” she said. The pair embraced and SZA gave a quick shout out to Doja, her mom, and God. At one point, the camera cut to Lady Gaga and BTS in the audience, who seemed to be smiling at the special moment.

Doja And SZA’s Long Journey to the GRAMMYs

Both artists have multiple Grammy nominations. There are 25 between two; SZA with 14, Doja with 11. But, this is the first win for both of them, a fact some found surprising. Though some wished Doja won in other categories, this is a significant moment in the singer’s career. At the end of Doja’s speech, she became teary-eyed and said, “I like to downplay a lot of sh-t, but this is, it’s a big deal.” This moment comes after Doja received backlash from fans in Paraguay and SZA got injured the day before the event. Fortunately, Doja and SZA will continue making music and, hopefully, win more Grammys in the future.

Latto Shares How She & Mariah Carey Formulated ‘Big Energy’ Remix

Latto released the remix for “Big Energy” featuring Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled. The original “Big Energy” is one of Latto’s highest-charting songs, which pays homage to Mariah Carey’s 1995 hit song, “Fantasy.” Infamous for her vocal range, Mariah opens the song with her legendary whistle notes as DJ Khaled builds up the excitement by shouting out popular cities.

How Did The Latto & Mariah Remix Happen?

On Twitter, fans question how “Big Energy” remix came about. In response, Latto shared that the idea struck her in November 2021, two months after the song’s release. Despite being high on the charts, she was not confident Mariah Carey would collaborate on the music. However, the Atlanta rapper decides to persist.

“I originally thought Mariah for the remix back in like November when it first started going up, but didn’t think I could get her realistically,” she wrote. “Fast fwd I said fuck it and reached out. She was down.”

Listener Reaction

Mariah sings the original chorus to “Fantasy” on the chorus, then harmonizes as Big Latto raps, “You gone have to come and see this. Pretty like New New, sweet like Peaches. I’m gone be ya fantasy. You ain’t gone believe this – Hold up, got Mimi on the remix.”

Ultimately, “Big Energy” reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts starting the year off. Therefore, the remix is right on time, and fans on Twitter love it. However, she has only released a clean version of the song, and listeners are awaiting the explicit version. A fan on Twitter addresses the matter stating, “looove the song 100% will you be releasing an explicit version of the song?” Drianna asks. “Cause I was singing it adding in the curse words I looove the remix because of how you guys mashed up Fantasy with Big Energy it flowed reaal good!!”

The Atlanta rapper dropped her sophomore album, “777” on Friday March 25. It features rappers such as Lil Wayne, Kodak Black, 21 Savage, and the album is currently streaming on all platforms.

Billboard Reevaluates The Weeknd’s #1 Spot Due to “Suspicious Data”

A few days ago, fans were lauding the Weeknd’s claim of the number one spot on the Billboard over Gunna. However, the tide has turned. Today, headlines read, sales numbers for The Weeknd’s “Dawn FM” are under review.

The Weeknd vs. Gunna: Road To The Top

Both the Weeknd and Gunna dropped their new projects to the masses on Jan 7. Before the release, fans made projections of who would ascend to the top of the charts. The Weeknd’s projection outshined Gunna’s by an ample margin. However, the Weeknd and Gunna’s numbers were quite close upon the release and initial sales calculation. Only a 2,000 margin of sales underlined The Weeknd’s claim of the number one spot. But, despite the proximity of the margin, the numbers certified his title.

Suspicions Abound About The Weeknd’s Win On Billboard

The triumph did not come without a fair amount of surprise. The Weeknd had not released any physical copies of his material. Without physical copies, it would prove that fans bolstered him massively, purely with the procurement of digital content. The source claims that “Dawn FM’s” physical copies’ drop date isn’t even expected until the 28th of this month. So many people are scratching their heads. No doubting the clinch was incredible, undergirding the power of fandom to boost their favorite artist to the top even without physical copies in hand.

Did The Weeknd Claim The Number One Spot On Billboard?

If anyone remembers, a tweet was released on Jan 15 at 5 PM with “Dawn FM” in the top spot. Although many thought the artist held the number one spot, no one fully validated the numbers. Because of the holiday, Billboard postponed the verification of The Weeknd’s sales. However, some maintain the delay was not solely due to the holiday. A few hypothesized the reason for a delay could also be the sales data suspicions. Billboard affirmed this following issuing a statement reading,

“In partnership with Billboard, data deemed suspicious and unverifiable is disqualified prior to the final calculation. This can cause delays in publishing.”

Presently, there are no reports of rational findings. No one knows what the specialists presume to be dubious about the data. However, some are leaning on how the Weeknd released and marketed “Dawn FM” as a consideration.

What Are The Suspicions?

Some fans are considering the unorthodox release tactics for “Dawn FM.” A source noted that no physical copies of the project were released in the first week, and there was no real promotional run before the album dropped.

Are physical copies and promotions essential to securing a massive amount of sales?

In the wake of the controversy, Gunna is turning up. While all eyes were trained on the Weeknd, Gunna sailed by clutching the number one spot for himself with DS4Ever The revised chart was tweeted yesterday by Billboard. So who can blame him for celebrating the climb? According to Billboard, they will post the new chart officially on their site tomorrow,

“The new, Jan 22 2022-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard’s website on Jan 19 – one day later than usual, owing to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday on Jan 17 in the U.S.”

As for The Weeknd, we are standing by to see his response to the controversy. But, it can’t be easy sinking so quickly from number 1.

Congratulations to Gunna. And FM Hip Hop will keep you informed of any developments with this Weeknd controversy as or if it evolves.
