FMHipHop: New Music Weekend Roundup

It’s Monday and it’s time for another FMHipHop music round up!  We all know Nas and Hit-Boy dropped King’s Disease III this past weekend, but a couple of other artists put projects out too.  Let’s take a look!

Glorilla-Anyways, Life’s Great…

GloRilla took off with “F.N.F.” and never looked back!  The new Memphis rapper dropped her EP,Anyways, Life’s Great over the weekend.  GloRilla is not new to dropping projects as she has dropped two mixtapes thus far in her career.  She released Most Likely Up Next in 2019 and followed that up with P Status in 2020.  Now, being signed to Yo Gotti’s CMG label under Interscope Records, this is the Rookie’s first official project.  With 9 tracks, Glorilla gives fans a few hit records, including features from Cardi B (“Tomorrow 2”) and Niki Pooh.  Fans went crazy on social media after Glorilla dropped the album cover and track list.

SleazyWorld Go-Where The Shooters Be

After Lil Baby jumped on his hit song “Sleazyworld Flow” for the remix, Sleazyworld Go has been having a good year.  He also received a co-sign from G Herbo.  His album,Where The Shooters Be, is here just a week later than projected.  It was supposed to come out on November 4th, but out of respect for Takeoff’s untimely passing, Sleazyworld Go decided to push it back one week.  Apparently, the new rapper has a lot to say on this album, with it being over 20 tracks.  Fredo Bang, Lil Baby, G Herbo, Rich The Kid, and PGF Nuk are all featured on the album!

Bleu-TANTRA

Yung Bleu is back again with another project!  He dropped TANTRA over the weekend under his imprint, Moon Boy University.  Bleu was busy on this album as he called on big artists for a few verses.  The Alabama rapper receives verses from Fivio Foreign, ZAYN, Nicki Minaj, French Montana, Lucky Daye, Lil Wayne, Ty Dolla $ign, and Ne-Yo.  Bleu shows his fans he can do it all as he not only performed the songs but wrote and produced them as well.

Check out all projects available on streaming services!

Bleu And Nicki Minaj Debut “Love in the Way”

Formerly known as Yung Bleu, Bleu just dropped his new single.  He has a special guest on this one too.  Bleu tapped hip-hop legend, Nicki Minaj, to be featured on the song!  The North and South collide in this one as Bleu hails from Alabama, and the Queen as we all know is from Queens, New York.

Bleu finally got his wish.  Last year, on Twitter, Bleu named Nicki Minaj as the top artist he wanted to make music with.  He now has two songs with two of the biggest artists in music history, first Drake and now Nicki!  The song features a sample from UK artist, Sam Tomkins.  He was ecstatic after he heard Nicki Minaj rapping over his song, “Whole”.  Tomkins took to Twitter to announce the news, into which Nicki tweeted back, “Congratulations babe”.

Bleu x Nicki

Bleu and Minaj came together to make “Love in the Way”.  Earlier this week, both artists shared snippets and artwork of the single.  This only increased fan excitement.  On Twitter, Bleu described the new song to be beautiful and going to be heard for years to come.  Nicki also tweeted about the collaboration before it dropped.  She had a warning for her fans to make sure this isn’t played out loud for everyone.  This song sounds like it may be very explicit with Minaj urging listeners to wear headphones for the first listen.

PNB Rock

Amid these two dropping a new song, they also took the time to pay their respect to friend and fellow artist, PnB Rock.  Bleu posted a picture of them both on social media with a caption stating they will meet again.  Nicki took to Twitter to share her feelings on the tragedy as well and was met with some criticism.

The Grammy winning rapper has been busy this whole year.  After dropping her hit single “Freaky Girl”, she doubled up with the remix last week.  It features BIA, JT from the City Girls, Akbar V, Maliibu Miitch, and Katie Got Bandz.  Go check out Bleu’s new track, “Love in the Way” with Nicki now!

“Love In the Way” follows Nicki’s hit track “Super Freaky Girl,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in August. The song earned Minaj her first solo No. 1 hit song. She previously topped the Hot 100 with her appearances on the remix to Doja Cat’s “Say So,” as well as “Trollz” with 6ix9ine.

Recently, Nicki also released the “Super Freaky Girl (Queen Mix),” a new cut of the song filled with collaborations. The lineup includes JT and BIA, as well as Malibu Mitch, Katie Got Bandz and Akbar V. The remix arrives less than a month after its initial release as the lead track from the rapper’s greatest-hits compilation, Queen Radio: Volume 1.

The Latest From Nicki Minaj

“Super Freaky Girl” is Nicki’s first new release since her collab with Fivio Foreign, “We Go Up,” dropped in March. Before that, she released “Blick Blick” with Coi Leray, and two songs with Lil Baby: “Bussin” and “Do We Have a Problem?” All of these projects were released this year.

Last month, the Bronx rapper was honored with the Video Vanguard Award from this year’s VMAs. Before accepting the award, she hit the stage to perform some of her biggest hits, including “Super Bass,” “Anaconda,” and “Roman’s Revenge.”

Maino and Jim Jones, The Lobby Boyz, Make A New York Project

Jim Jones and Maino have formed a duo, The Lobby Boyz!  Their self-titled album came out last week; just in time for the summer!  The New York veterans came together to remind us what they can do on the mic.

The New York Sound

The album starts off with “Project Baby”.  It’s a reflection song as Maino starts off by describing his hood and what him and his people go through in Brooklyn.  Jim Jones continues what Maino is saying describing his hood and how he grew up in Harlem.  Over the smooth beat, he touches on not having a father to being a great father to his son.  The best thing about all of this is that they made it out of the projects making better lives for the people around them.

The “Lobby Boyz Anthem” is an anthem for NY with the New York duo rapping over Jay-Z’s “Where I’m From” beat.  Lyrivelli sings on the chorus, “Lobby Boyz had to hustle hard the long way”.  If you can identify with that, you may be a lobby boy yourself.  The New York veterans embody the New York sound on “BK & Harlem” as well.  On a classic sample that many rappers have went off on, Maino and Capo trade verses like Jadakiss and Styles P.  This album sounds New York from the beats to the features.

Star Features

Jim Jones and Maino makes sure this album is New York!  On “Praying”, old New York meets New New York as Benny the Butcher jumps on the track.  He fits right in with the veterans sounding like he’s been in the game just as long as them.  Maino grabs his Brooklyn brother, Fivio Foreign, for “Slide”, which might be the hit off the album.  With the hottest New York rapper right now, the trio create a drill type song bound to heat the Summer up!  Bleu, formely known as Yung Bleu, makes his appearance on the album on “Babysitter”.  The hot R&B artist helps Maino and Capo make a song to ride to.

Finally, the honorary Lobby Boy, Fabolous gets a verse on the album.  We all thought Fab would be a part of The Lobby Boyz too, but good thing they nabbed him for “No Bobby V”.  Ironically this song is titled “No Bobby V” while rapping over Bobby Valentino’s “Tell Me”.  I can see this song being a hit from the album as well.

On “King of the City”, Maino and Jim Jones grab “Gyalis” singer Capella Grey for the hook.  Hailing from the Bronx, Capella Grey helps make a song perfect for riding around the city with your lady.  Young Brooklyn rapper Young M.A. delivers a verse on “One Day” over the classic Wu-Tang beat while the New York veteran Styles P produces on “Die Young”.   Jim Jones grabs fellow Harlem rapper Dave East to be a guest on “Never Take Me Alive”.  All three rappers write great verses over the famous sample, “Living Inside Your Love” by Earl Klugh. Rappers like J.Cole and Fabolous have made songs using this sample as well.  There’s no doubt you’ll leave this album saying this is a New York project!

Jackin for Beats

This album is loaded with great beats and samples, especially from the 90s!  As, I mentioned earlier, the “Lobby Boyz Anthem” samples Jay-Z’s “Where I’m From”.  On “Climb Back”, Jim Jones and Maino sample Luniz’s “I Got 5 On It”.  They also use another Jay-Z beat, “Do It Again”, on “Off the Leash”, keeping the same chorus scheme as both artists put their spin on it.  They took these songs and made it their own creating a sense of nostalgia.  Hip hop fans who grew up on 90s hip hop will certainly appreciate these songs.

Overall, this is a good album.  I appreciate two New York legends coming together to create a piece of art.  They were able to bring us back to the 90s with the samples they used, but also able to make it feel new.  Jim Jones has been the best rapper in New York since 2017 and Maino rarely disappoints on a verse.  It was a surprise to see these two do a project, and I’m sure it won’t be their last.

Boosie Badazz Opens Up About Yung Bleu In The New Interview

Recently, the rapper Boosie Badazz was the star of an interview with VladTV, a YouTube channel created by Vladimir Lyubovny. Among other things, Boosie Badazz discussed his situation with Yung Bleu.

In one of the clips from the DJVLAD channel, Boosie revealed mistruths regarding multiple ongoing contract disputes. He may also take someone -well, almost everyone- to court.

In response to these statements, Boosie also clarified that he was not ‘necessarily’ talking about Yung Bleu, as he does not blame him for the misunderstandings between the two.

“Ain’t really in it. It’s just the people who [are] always behind it,” said Boosie. “People did some messed up business, and it’s going to come back to haunt everybody.”

VLADTV’s Outstanding Opinions

Likewise, Vlad confessed that he had no idea who Yung Bleu was before Boosie Badazz introduced him and“begged” the host, VladTV, to invite Bleu for an interview.

Vlad seemed unwilling to pass up the opportunity to make a strong statement.

“Once this artist that someone discovers ends up going platinum, the person rarely benefits the way they’re supposed to,” Vlad continued. “And the artist rarely stays loyal to the person that discovered them.”

Boosie then opined, agreeing with him but at the same time saying that it is all due to their bad decisions. But despite everything, and as a businessman, he has to do what is suitable for him.

Vlad’s immense support for the rapper Boosie, who directly supported him throughout the interview, was also clearly noticeable.

“I credit you to his [Yung Bleu’s] success now. You definitely took it over the top with him.”

The Public Opinion On Boosie

Public opinion is an essential factor in many situations. On this occasion, the vast majority of comments support Boosie.

Scrolling down into the comment section, there were several comments from fans about the interview and Badazz’s statements. Many users noted how hurt Boosie feels about this situation and the humility with which he continues to talk about his partner.

“Boosie still giving him the benefit of the doubt and still calling him the biggest and the greatest.”

As expected, Yung Bleu got the worst of it, as there are also several comments from people angry about his actions.

“Bleu gonna regret leaving Boosie for a major label later,” someone said. “When he finds out he’s owed millions from his music that he could’ve kept with Boosie, he gonna see!”
