Nipsey Hussle’s Killer Sentenced 60 Years To Life In Prison

The man who murdered Airmiess Joseph Asghedom, also known as Nipsey Hussle, was finally sentenced today.

60 Years To Life In Prison

A Los Angeles judge sentenced Eric R. Holder Jr. to 60 years to life in prison.

The judge said, “”I am very mindful of what was presented as to Mr. Holder’s mental health; I am also mindful of the devastation caused to the victims and their families. I believe this sentence balances the two.”

The breakdown is 25 years to life for the murder, 25 for a firearm sentencing enhancement, and 10 for assault with a firearm.

The firearm hit two other men at the scene who survived the gunfire.

Holder was convicted of first-degree murder in July for the murder of Nipsey on Mar 31, 2019.

An Argument That Ended With A Life Taken From This World

Holder and Hussle knew each other for years as they grew up as members of the Rollin 60s in South L.A.

Holder talked with Nipsey and two other guys at The Marathon, where the rapper was killed on Mar 31, 2019. Then Nipsey’s acquaintance got upset over being called an alleged snitch. Resulting in Holder returning to the store later that day with a gun.

Witnesses were present when Holder approached the entrepreneur and opened fire, murdering Nipsey Hussle.

The tragedy occurred in a parking lot outside Asghedom’s South L.A. clothing store. Nipsey was only 33 years old.

Sentencing Delayed Multiple Times

Holder stared straight ahead in the courtroom and did not have a reaction when the sentence was read. His sentencing was delayed multiple times, with the most recent postponing because of the defense attorney.

Aaron Jensen wanted to work on reducing Holder’s conviction to manslaughter or second-degree murder. The judge rejected the request at the end of last year.

Holder Will Likely Spend The Rest Of His Life In Jail

The jury convicted the killer in July, three years after the incident occurred. Holder will likely be in jail for the rest of his life.

A Rapper And A Business Man, But Truly A Family Man

Nipsey Hussle was obviously loved by his community and his beautiful blended family. He was a father of two and had his son Kross with his longtime partner, actress Lauren London. Together, their family comprised five, each bringing in a child from previous relationships.

You can tell the businessman cherished his family as they picked up the torch to keep his vision alive. Nipsey’s legacy will live on forever because the marathon continues…

J.Stone Keeps The Marathon Going

Even though Nipsey Hussle passed away, ‘The Marathon Continues’ and his right-hand man is here to pick up the movement.  J. Stone has been making his mark on hip-hop since 2019!

Best Friends

On March 31, 2019, Hussle was shot and killed in front of his own business complex.  The world was in shambles and could not believe the mogul wasn’t here with us anymore.  Just like everyone else in the All Money In team, Stone was devastated!  He and Nipsey grew up together and the two started their rap careers at the same time.  The Grammy nominated artist revealed how he and Stone use to make music to start out.  One day Nipsey would rap and J.Stone would engineer, then the following day Nipsey would engineer while J. Stone would rap.  They kept doing that because Hussle was tired of running from the booth to the equipment just to record a song.

As Nipsey progressed in Hip-Hop, J. Stone wound up in prison.  He watched his friend flourish from behind bars and once his time was served, Nipsey picked him up.  The two went straight to the studio per Stone’s request.  Hussle held it down for Stone and now it feels like Stone is returning the favor even though the “Griding All My Life” rapper is no longer here with us.

J.Stone’s Time

The same year Nipsey was murdered, Stone dropped The Definition of Loyalty six months later.  A verse from Nipsey is featured on the album as Stone keeps Nip’s Marathon theme going in each song.  The album involves artists that Hussle has worked with before as well.  The following year, he linked up with Pacman da Gunman, another All Money In member, forGround Zero.  He kept up his work ethic and a few months later, Stone released his own album,The Definition of Pain.  Like The Definition of Loyalty, the artists featured on this album also have done songs with Nipsey.  This includes T.I., Dave East, Dom Kennedy, and Trae tha Truth.

In 2021, J.Stone continued his Stoney Montanaseries from 2017 by dropping both Stoney Montana 2 and 3.  On these tapes, he involves more of the All Money In members such as Rimpau, Cuzzy Capone, & Killa Twan.  J.Stone has sure built his popularity up as in his most recent album, The Definition of Sacrifice, that came out in June of last year featured the likes of Mozzy, Young Dolph, Styles P, Jadakiss, Swizz Beatz, and O.T. Genasis.  Stone has been working hard and it shows as he gets better every time he steps in the booth.

Rollin Stone

He’s starting the new year off right with a new project!  He linked up with DJ Drama for a Gangsta Grillz production titled, Rollin StoneRollin Stone is the first Hip-Hop tape of the year, and it is already legendary because it’s stamped by Gangsta Grillz.  Since Nipsey has been gone, J.Stone has been holding it down.  The message is still there and is still important.  The message is the marathon.  The Marathon the Continues.

Eric Holder Convicted Of Murder In Nipsey Hussle Shooting

A jury found Eric Holder guilty of first-degree murder in the case of Nipsey Hussle today.

After deliberating for over six hours in two days, the court found Holder guilty of murder and two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter. The other two charges addressed two bystanders hit by gunfire in the 2019 shooting.

The legal battle had suffered delays for over three years. Last year COVID-19 protocols and the retirement of a lead judge postponed the trial.

Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, died at 33 in Los Angeles in March 2019. He released his debut studio album Victory Lap not long before, earning him a Grammy nomination.

Arguments in Nipsey Hussle Trial

The case against Holder was rock solid, with eyewitnesses and surveillance footage detailing the shooting. Video showed Hussle gunned down outside his Marathon closing store, with Holder shooting from his right and left hands.

L.A. County Deputy Public Defender Aaron Jansen argued the alleged murder had not been premeditated. He described Eric’s actions as a “passionate response” to snitching allegations, according to ABC News. He also maintained that Eric “didn’t mean to shoot the two bystanders.”

Deputy District Attorney John McKinney refuted the claims, saying: “There was no doubt that Eric planned to kill Nipsey.” He cited evidence that Holder shot Hussle 10 or 11 times before kicking him in the head and fleeing.

Holder and Nipsey knew each other for years, growing up as members of the same South L.A. gang. The snitching allegations referred to rumors about Holder giving information to the authorities on Nip. McKinney argued the conversation preceding Nipsey’s death was so calm it could not have been the primary catalyst for the shooting. He maintained Holder must have had previous hatred or envy towards Hussle, noting the mere nine minutes that separated that final conversation from the shooting.

Eric Holder will stand trial on September 15th, when he will face life in prison.

Nipsey Hussle’s Killer, Eric Holder, Is Standing A Trial

Nipsey Hussle’s killer Eric Holder is currently on trial. The Hip-Hop artist and clothing store owner died from a bullet on March 31, 2019.

The supposed reason for Nipsey Hussle’s killing is his suggesting that Holder took care of the rumors about “some paperwork floating around.” Holder reportedly claimed the rumors were “bulls**t” and shot the artist several times. Restoring his dignity, Holder now has a high chance to spend the rest of his life in prison, proving that he’s not a snitch.

“There’s a range of consequences for people who snitch,” Deputy District Attorney John McKinney carefully explained to the jury. “No gang member wants to be considered a snitch.”

“You’re Through,” Holder Stated; You got me,” Nipsey Replied

When Eric Holder first came to the Nipsey Hussle’s clothing store, they seemingly had a friendly conversation. According to Hussle’s friend, Herman Douglas, Holder asked Nipsey whether he checked Eric’s songs.

Nipsey then warned Eric about the snitching rumors. Douglas didn’t worry about the interaction and returned to the store. However, McKinney stated that Holder also told Hussle, “you are through.”

The below took place after:

“He was shot literally from the bottom of his feet to the top of his head. The bullet perforated Nipsey’s lungs, one bullet transected his spine, and one bullet went through the liver,” McKinney described.

Holder’s Defense Attorney, Aaron Jenson, didn’t argue that Holder committed such acts. However, he claimed that the defendant’s actions resulted from “heat of passion.”

Jenson explained that Nipsey warning Holder about the snitching rumors enraged the defendant to the point of losing control and committing murder.

The Heat Of Horror

Whether the murder is a result of deliberate actions or occurred due to the “heat of passion,” it’s pretty horrifying that it takes 9 minutes to choose between human life and reputation. As well as the fact that it takes a human life to restore one’s reputation.

Considering that the expected result of “snitching” is one facing punitive legal consequences, it makes me think of how unfortunate the consequences might be. What kinds of things happen in prisons if one is willing to murder after nine minutes of thinking about choosing between the above or having the reputation of a snitch.

While there’s no justification for murder and the murderer belongs in jail, the legal system might want to reconsider itself. At least to prevent further killings on similar motives and possibly even for the sake of humanism.

The Marathon Builds with Store and Documentary

Nipsey Hussle created a legacy that is still inspiring. Unfortunately, he has been gone for more than 3 years, but he continues to inspire. A new documentary about the journey Nipsey and his brother Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom took to create a cannabis business has been released. This comes a month before The Marathon (Collective), a THC and CBD store, opens in Los Angeles.

The Marathon (Cultivation) Documentary

Complex reported that the premiere for the documentary took place about a week ago. A small group of friends, family and cannabis consumers gathered to watch it. Most importantly, they all loved what they saw.

Fans will get to see how the store came into existence. The documentary follows Nipsey and his close friends’ sales of cannabis on the streets to the successful creation of a cannabis store. The documentary also covers how Nipsey and the Cure Company teamed up to create Marathon OG.

Eventually, Nipsey gives a tour of the iconic Marathon OG grow room, Snoop Dogg makes an appearance and the audience receives glimpses of the Marathon (Collective) store.

The Marathon (Collective) Store Opening

Blacc Sam will open the store June 18th on Canoga Ave. in Los Angeles. This will be the first The Marathon (Collective) store, and it will act as the flagship for all future stores.

“This is something we always spoke about,” Blacc Sam said at the premiere.

Snoop Honors Nipsey Hussle: Reveals the Artist as Ghostwriter

Ghostwriters rarely get credit for their work, but Snoop Dogg gives Nipsey his due this time.

Snoop Honors Hussle

Snoop Dogg recently went on the record shouting out Nipsey Hussle as a contributor to his work. “Ten Toes Down” was a track released on the Doggfather’s 2016 album Coolaid. However, many didn’t know it was a collaborative effort when it was released.

The Genuine Snoop

If there is one word that can define Snoop, it’s genuine. He keeps it a hundred. So, it was not shocking when he dropped the mention of Nipsey Hussle as a ghostwriter on the track “Ten Toes Down.” Snoop posted a video on social media with him vibing to the track. The caption said it all,

“The late great @nipseyhussle wrote this for me 🙏🏾💫✨💧10ToesDown. Coolaid. Album👏🏿🔈🔈.”

Now, that is humbleness in action.

Snoops Admiration for Hussle

Snoop had great admiration for the artist and the man that Nipsey Hussle was and was becoming. He still fondly recalled how he first met Hussle and the impact of the interaction. And what he thought of Hussle as an artist speaks well of Hussle’s talent.

“What was crazy was Nip’s mentality was stronger than a rapper that’s been in the game for 15 years.”

Such a compliment from an OG in the game carries a lot of weight.

Not only Collaborators

Snoop and Hussle were collaborators. However, the public knew little of the collaborative work behind the scenes until now. The fact that Snoop trusted Hussle as a partner and as a ghostwriter speaks volumes. Knowing the depth of kinship he felt with Hussle, this is not wholly unexpected.

He saw a natural kinship in the up and comer.  He told the world so at Hussle’s memorial service. In Snoop’s words

“But one thing that me and Nip had was a kind spirit, we had that spirit of love … When we met each other, it was like a magnet coming together. We had the same spirit.”

And brothers uplift brothers.

Long live Hussle’s legacy as the phenom he was in the industry. Unfortunately, we don’t always know the extent of one’s impact until their gone. However, when we see the bigger picture, we give props where props are due.

The special will be hosted by Fox 5 New Your’s crime and investigative reporter Lisa Evers. The legendary Lisa Evers has also hosted Street Soldiers for a number of years.

Street Soldiers currently airs on iconic New York City rap station, Hot97, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Sundays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

According to Hot97, the weekly show discusses “the toughest issues in our community. No issue is off-limits, whether it’s health issues, gun violence, police-community relations, racial stereotypes, or images of women.”

Crime & Hip Hop Will Go Into Depth About Recent Rap Deaths

To the contrary, Crime & Hip Hop will solely showcase the connection between crime and rap artists as well as street culture in general. It will also give viewers an inside look as to who each featured artist was as human beings.

In addition, Evers will discuss why such tragic murders still happen today, many years after the highly publicized Biggie and Tupac conflict. In case you’re a bit younger, and you’re not aware of what happened to them, they were both famously gunned down following their beef.

Similarly, Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed in his hometown of Los Angeles, Calif., and Young Dolph was fatally shot in his hometown of Memphis, Tenn.

Pop Smoke, on the other hand, was shot and killed during an armed robbery in Los Angeles, Calif. He was originally from Canarsie, Brooklyn.

All three deaths sent shockwaves through the industry and the streets. Their respective fan bases were devastated and continue to celebrate their contributions to music.

Lisa Evers Thanks Fox Soul For The Opportunity To Host The Special

Evers took to her Instagram page to thank Fox Soul for allowing her to tell their stories.

“Thank you, @foxsoul @duboseoffiicial, for this chance to tell the stories of these artists’ true greatness & investigate these heartbreaking crimes,” she wrote on May 12.

Pacman & Hit-Boy Keep The Marathon Going

Pacman da Gunman and Hit-Boy joined forces to create the “Bulletproof Soul” project. It came out earlier this month and is a great project. Pacman is also known to be with Nipsey Hussle’s All Money In Records. Now, he is thoroughly keeping Nipsey’s legacy and the marathon going.

Hit-Boy Makes Hits

The project starts off with “Not Your Average.” Giving a nice intro to begin the record, Hit presents a beat that will undoubtedly nod your head. Meanwhile, Pacman flows through the two-minute song, delivering California raps on a beat that sounds so California.

“Bangin Late” follows, with a beat similar to “Not Your Average,” though more elevated. Hit and Pacman then pick up where they just left off to deliver a slapper. This one is to be played at maximum volume at the L.A. house party, on AUX, of course.

Presenting an anthem for the streets, Pacman also lets you know that he’s been out here for a long time, and if he doesn’t know you, you’re new here.

Many people probably understand Pac. If you’re a part of the culture, you most likely grew up in the streets, also having to do certain (usually illegal) things until recognition. Pac was out here and knows who’s who. According to the artist, the ones getting their names now just started into this lifestyle and haven’t spent enough time involving themselves in illegal activities. Consequentially, this apparently means these artists are not real.

Pacman’s Pen

“Told Us Not To Do It,” one of Pacman’s most popular songs off his discography (according to Spotify), features Peezy. Hit-Boy is in the rhythm as the instrumentals flow right into each other.

As previously mentioned, “Bangin Late” seems like a more elevated beat than “Not Your Average.” Meanwhile, “Told Us Not To Do It” seems even higher than “Bangin Late!”

As soon as the beat drop, your head starts to nod again. Peezy executes his guest verse while mentioning that “The Marathon” is still going. Long live Nipsey Hussle!

Hit-Boy switches up the tempo for a minute for Pacman to really vent. In “The Cycle,” featuring B.Carr, Pacman struggles with losing people as he asks to talk to God. He realizes this is the cycle of living in the streets or possibly just the process of life. B. Carr does a great job on the chorus as he sums this song up, relating to how Pacman’s feeling.

California Vibe

There’s no way this project does not give you a California vibe! “New Heat” is a song you want to listen to while driving down the L.A. freeway, top-down with the sun in your face. Hit-Boy can make you feel good with this easy-listening record after heavy-hearted “The Cycle.”

With the help of J Stone, Pacman helps listeners envision the L.A. life: beautiful women, fancy cars, sunny weather, big blunts, and plenty of jewelry!

The California ride then continues with “Find A Balance,” as Pacman shows his versatility by giving something the women can take and listen to. Hit-Boy takes a classic sample and turns it into my favorite song off the album!

Accompanied by Dom Kennedy, both West Coast emcees explain to women how to handle a hustler. Turns out it’s also not easy. Pacman keeps the ride going on “Cold Nights on 60th St” as he reminisces while Hit-Boy drives. He reflects on Nipsey’s advice, and as the song plays out, it reminds me of Nipsey and Swizz Beatz’s “Been Down.”

The project ends with “Ask God,” featuring Yhung T.O. and “Til We Meet Again.” The ode to Nipsey as Pacman hopes to reconnect with his friend one day. He pays homage to him for the message he spoke and how he influenced the world. He mentions his loved ones, such as Black Sam, Nipsey’s brother, Imani and Kross, Nipsey’s children, and his wife, Lauren London. Throughout the project, Pacman’s relationship with God and the afterlife is a recurring theme. He manages to keep his faith while battling through loss and struggle.

The Marathon Must Go On

I rate this project an 8 out of 10, B+! I am a fan of this tape, and this is the second straight project Pacman has executed on. With Hit-Boy’s production, the project rises to another level! Pacman’s writing ability and Hit-Boy’s production genius can take listeners to many different places in under 25 minutes! There are songs for the club, songs for the streets, songs for the car, songs for the women, songs for a cookout, songs for a funeral, etc.

Bulletproof Soul does not disappoint. Big shout out to Pacman da Gunman and Hit-Boy, The Marathon Continues!

Master P On Nipsey Hussle Being Idolized After Death: “Stop It With The Fake Love”

Award-winning rapper, music executive, and businessman Master P has spoken out about slain L.A. rapper, Nipsey Hussle, being idolized after he died.

Master P Says Nipsey Hussle Has Gotten More Praise After Death

In a recent interview with HipHopDX, Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, alluded to the rapper not receiving as much praise as he does now while he was still alive.

“I just think in our culture, it just natural that people just self-hate. They don’t want to see somebody else make it until they [are] gone,” he told the outlet. “You don’t want to tell somebody they [are] great while they [are] alive. That’s the thing that I just couldn’t understand about Nipsey…He was talented [and] put the same record that sold millions of copies only sold 50,000 when he was alive, and he couldn’t get it.”

The 52-year-old added that Nipsey, whose real name was Airmiess Joseph Asghedom, was still in his hometown of Crenshaw right before his untimely death.

“He was like, ‘Man, I put my all into this project…Boss, I did it. This is it.’ Then when it didn’t happen, and just watching the people, this guy [didn’t] know that his funeral was at the Staples Center. He didn’t know that he had that type of love. Let’s be honest, he was still in Inglewood and Crenshaw trying to figure it out.”

Nipsey’s Untimely Passing Shocked The Hip-Hop World

The then 33-year-old musician was shot and killed outside his Marathon Clothing store on Mar. 31, 2019. After being and hit in the head and torso, he succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His untimely passing sent a shockwave through the rap industry as he was a cult figure in the hip-hop space.

Nipsey’s funeral took place at the Staples Center in downtown L.A. on Apr. 12, 2019. He left behind his then-girlfriend, actress Lauren London, and two children; Emani Asghedom–now 13 years old–and Kross Ermias Asghedom–now five years old.

Master P Said The Industry’s Love For Nipsey Has Seemed “Fake”

Despite the beautiful celebration of his life, memorial, and merchandise dedicated to him, Master P said the love has been “fake,” and that it came “too late.”

“Look back before that happened…People would tell him, ‘Well, I don’t think that you got it,'” said the New Orleans legend. “What happened? I mean, it’s the same album. The same album that people love now. That’s the part that I don’t understand. That’s why we got to celebrate us while [we’re] here. Stop it with the fake love. It ain’t for me, but I know a lot of people that he did songs with that we couldn’t get approved or nobody would mess [with]. Now, if you say you got a Nipsey song, everybody want to be on it. It’s too late.”

Nipsey Hussle Looked Up To Master P

Nipsey reportedly idolized the No Limit Records CEO, as he openly expressed that he looked up to him on numerous occasions.

“Master P was an innovator in so many different ways,” he told Billboard in an interview from 2018. “P don’t get his credit, man…He got so successful in music…was the first to do it the way he did it. He put his kids on…turned into a businessman…did films…burned the game out…maxed out.”

The two became friends, and Master P even gave him guidance, but, unfortunately, he never got to follow through with his plans completely.

“This guy was all about being self-made and independent, but it is just tough when [you’re] in the ghetto, and you’re trying to make it, and you have all these dreams, but you almost get there, you go to jail to get killed. That’s been what’s been happening all over the world,” the mogul said.
