Kid Cudi Sets Record Straight on Drake Comments

In a recent interview with Esquire, Kid Cudi made some harsh comments on Drake. The rapper discussed his strained relationship with Kanye West, saying that it’s hard to forgive Ye after the situation with Pete Davidson. According to Cudi, the two won’t be repairing their friendship anytime soon.

“With all due respect, I’m not Drake, who’s about to take a picture with him next week and be friends again, and their beef is squashed,” Cudi said. “That’s not me. What I say, I mean. I will be done with you.” He also said that it would take a “miracle” for he and Kanye to squash their beef.

Cudi’s  reference to Drake raised some brows, but the Chicago artist wants to set the record straight. Kid Cudi took to Twitter and specified that he has love for Drake and that no disrespect was intended.

“Just to be clear, I wasn’t tryna throw a shot at Drake. I got love 4 him,” he wrote. “My point I was tryna make is that I’m not so forgiving. Meaning he might be a lil nicer than me in that situation w[ith] dude. That’s all. Maybe that came off wrong thru my words. So yea, all good w[ith] Drake.”

Kid Cudi’s history with Drake

Considerably, this isn’t the first time Drake’s name has passed Kid Cudi’s lips. In September 2016, the “Day ‘N Nite” artist name dropped Drizzy in a tweet regarding his biggest haters in the music industry. He also made it a point to include Ye in that list as well.

While Kanye made it a point to squash the beef at a show in Houston a few days later, Drake’s response took a different route. The Toronto rapper launched a series of sneak disses at Cudi, with the lowest of blows coming when Drake poked at Cudi’s history with mental health.

Cudi then responded with tweets from rehab, challenging Drake to repeat the bars to his face. Eventually, the two reconciled, with Cudi even featuring on Drake’s “IMy2” from Certified Lover Boy.

Drake Dominates With Top 14 Songs on Billboard Hot 100

Drake is making history yet again.

All year long, Drake has teased fans with a new album, which he shared early on would be titled “Certified Lover Boy.” Fans were nervous about the album’s quality, not only because of how long it took to drop, but because he planned on dropping right after Kanye West’s “Donda” album.

Well, the nerves can settle. According to Billboard, the “Way 2 Sexy” rapper’s latest album, Certified Lover Boy, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart this week after generating 743.7 + million streams in the U.S.

This means Drake takes the crown for the biggest debut week of any album in over a year. Taylor Swift’s Folklore previously held the top spot, after selling 846,000 units in the first 7 days.

Certified Lover Boy, which dropped on Sept. 3, is Drizzy’s 10th number one album, adding him to a short list of artists with at least 10 number one albums on the Billboard 200 chart.

Drake’s first topped the Billboard 200 chart back in 2010, with Thank Me Later.

Not only did he have an amazing week, but Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart also shared that the top 14 songs were nearly all CLB tracks, with “Way 2 Sexy” featuring Future and Young Thug at No. 1.

Other Drake songs included in the top 14 were “Girls Wants Girls,” “Papi’s Home” and “Champagne Poetry.”

CLB nearly doubled the weekly streaming record Kanye West briefly set last week when Donda pulled in 410.8 million streams. Ye still did well enough to land at Number Two this week with 230.8 million streams. But the gap between that number and Drake’s is now the largest gap in Artists 500 history.

Congrats to Drizzy on this major milestone.

Drake’s Certified Lover Boy and Dedications.

Last Friday morning, Drake released his sixth studio album, “Certified Lover Boy”. He dedicated the album to the late social media influencers Nadia Ntuli and Mercedes Morr.

“Certified Lover Boy” became Spotify’s most-streamed album in one day. CLB definitely shows Drake’s evolution, growth and unmatched style of rap through all twenty-one songs on the album. It starts with a song titled “Champagne Poetry” and ends with  “The Remorse”. In the song “Champagne Poetry” Drake says “I been hot since the birth of my son/I remain unfazed/ trust, worse has been done/ Man, f### evaluation, show me personal funds/It’s the pretty boys versus the petty boys.”

Could those lines be a classy diss to Kanye West? Back in 2018, it was rumored that Kanye West told rapper Pusha T about Drake’s son (at the time Drake never made it public that he had a son). Ever since then, there has been an ongoing beef between Drake and Kanye (It seems like the beef has fuel the fire in Drake, to rise higher as a person and performer).  The album is receiving a lot of buzz! Rapper, Jadakiss posts on his Instagram about Drake’s song “7am on Bridle Path”.

From “Degrassi” to Drake

In 2001, Drake landed a role on the famous Canadian teenage drama “Degrassi” at only 14 years old.  He played as Jimmy Brooks, a well liked eight grader, basketball star and eventual paraplegic. His character in the show life dream was to be a rapper and now it has manifested in his real life.  His first mixtape was “Room for Improvement” back in 2006. He later signed a deal with Cash Money Records in 2009. In 2010, he released his album “Thank Me Later”.  He released his single “Best I Ever Had” from that album, the song was a hit and Drake blew up! He then released “Take Care” in 2011 and did a song featuring Rihanna and it received a lot of air play. His next four studio albums became very popular as well.

Dedications

Drake dedicated his album “Certified Lover Boy” to Instagram model and OnlyFans star Nadia Ntuli. She was a close friend of his, that was killed in a car accident in Dubai in January of this year. He also dedicated CLB to social media influencer Mercedes Morr , who died in a murder-suicide in Richmond, Texas.

40 Explained R. Kelly’s Credentials on New Drake Album

Canadian producer and Drake’s collaborator Noah “40” Shebib explained why R. Kelly got credits on the rapper’s new album. The producer explained the situation on Instagram. In a comment, he wrote:

“On a song called “TSU” at the beginning is a sample of OG Ron C talking. Behind that faintly which you can’t even hear is an R Kelly song playing in the background. It has no significance; no lyrics are present, R Kelly’s voice isn’t even present but if we wanted to use Ron C talking we were forced to license it. Doesn’t sit well with me let me just say that. And I’m not here to defend Drake’s lyrics, but I thought I would clear up that there is no actual R Kelly present and it’s a bit misleading to call him a co-lyricist. It’s kinda wild cause I was just reading “Baby Girl” by Kathy Iandoli and the recounts of some of that stuff is horrific and disgusting. Then I saw this post and just had to say something because to think we would stand beside that guy or write with him is just incredibly disgusting.”

Drake & R. Kelly Controversy

The song “TSU” from Drake’s newest album, Certified Lover Boy, has R. Kelly in its credentials. Outraged fans went on social media, where they reacted with shockdisappointment or humor. Turns out, the “TSU” beat is a sample used from R. Kelly’s 1998 hit “Half on a Baby.”

R. Kelly is currently on trial. He’s facing charges, including assault and running a criminal enterprise. Before Drake’s album was released, another R. Kelly’s assault victim spoke at the trial. At the time of the assault, R. Kelly has also married Aaliyah, which is another hint that the marriage was a sham.

Drake’s new album has also come out amidst the rapper’s conflict with Kanye. Be sure to read about their beef at the group chat and on social media here.

Andre 3000 Issues Statement Regarding the Leaked Song “Life of The Party” with Kanye

It’s not often we get to hear from the nomadic legend and arguably one of the best MCs in the rap game. Mr. Andre 3000, who is rarely spotted out in the public eye, the last we saw of him he was in a random town playing the flute blending in with civilians not trying to be seen at all. One thing he always does is gift us with a feature like we’ve never heard before. This time we finally caught a glimpse of him on an unreleased track on Kanye West’s 10th studio album Donda, which by our surprise never made it to the final album cut.

Drake leaks unreleased Kanye x Andre 3000 track

Somehow the track got in the hands of Drake himself, Kanye West’s camp suspects there is a mole, or someone on his team paid someone off to send the track to Drake. Either way, Drake released the track on Sirius XM radio blasting the internet and we can’t get enough of hearing Andre 3000 come to life.

Andre wanted no part of the beef

Though the track was beautiful and filled with so much emotion, Mr. 3000 had no intention of being part of the 3-year brewing feud between Drake and Kanye West. He issued a statement explaining his distaste for how the track release went down.

“The track I received and write to didn’t have the diss verse on it and we were hoping to make a more focused offering for the Donda album, but I guess things happen like they are supposed to.” Andre expresses his gratitude for both artists and she’s his desire to work not only with Kanye and Drake but with Lil Baby, Tyler, and Jay-Z as well. Initially, Kanye reached out to Andre for the track placement that shared similar grief in pain seeing how both lost their mothers to heart conditions. Kanye’s mother passed in 2017 and Andre’s mother passed in 2013 (per Peoples).

If you have not had a chance to hear the song snippet, check it out here. Tell us in the comments what you think about the situation. Should Drake have released Kanye’s song? Is Kanye wring for recruiting Andre for a diss track?

Drake’s Certified Lover Boy and Conflict with Kanye

Drake’s Certified Lover Boy is releasing amidst the rapper’s conflict with Kanye West. A couple of weeks ago, Drake featured on Betrayal, a part of Trippie Redd’s album. In the song, Drake had called Kanye “burned out.” He also had stated, “Ye ain’t changin’ shit for me.”

Kanye West responded to Drake with multiple text messages and doxing. In the alleged group chat with Drake and Pusha T, Kanye’s text said, “I live for this. I’ve been f***ed with by nerd ass jock n***** like you my whole life. You will never recover. I promise you.” Mr. West has also sent a picture of Joker to his peers.

Kanye also had published Drake’s address on Instagram story. However, he deleted it shortly after. Drizzy later responded with a video of him laughing in his car.

The artists have had an ongoing beef since 2018. The most known part of the conflict is the fact that Drake has a son. This was mentioned by Pusha T on The Story Of Adidon, as he also was a part of the conflict on Kanye’s side.

Fans seem to be heated up before the release. Kanye’s and Drake’s albums were also allegedly meant to release on the same date of September 3. However, Kanye’s new album Donda was released on August 29, against the artist’s say. Not only was the release published earlier, but it also lacks Jail 2 track featuring DaBaby.

Overall, expectations are very high. One can only wait and see if the conflict will keep developing through the album or if it’s just a compilation of romantic songs from Drizzy.

Drake reveals bout with Covid-19 wreaked Havoc on his hairline

Throughout the summer, Drake has evaded one key question: Where is his long-awaited new album “Certified Lover Boy”? It turns out the Toronto rapper’s recording process ran into a bump when he was infected with COVID-19. Drake revealed his diagnosis in a comment on an Instagram fan account called @drizzy drake vids on Monday, August 16.

The page uploaded a photo from Drake’s original Instagram Story of him in the studio, his hairline looking faded, with only half the iconic heart shaved into it. “That heart is stressed,” the post commented. The “Laugh Now, Cry Later” rapper replied to the fan page’s post. “I had Covid that s–t grew in weird,” he said. “I had to start again.”

“Don’t diss it, it’s coming back,” he warned.

Drake didn’t reveal exactly when he contracted COVID-19. He became, however, one of the first celebrities go public about his test for the virus after hanging out with NBA star Kevin Durant in March 2020, right after Durant announced his diagnosis of the illness. “Yeah, I had to perform a test, but it came back negative,” he said in a video recorded by TMZ at the time. “That test is uncomfortable though. They stick that Q-tip all the way up inside your thoughts and s–t.”

Drake has yet to reveal a firm release date for Certified Lover Boy

Fans had expected the release of Drake’s new album in January, but “Certified Lover Boy” faced a postponement when the rapper underwent knee surgery in the fall of 2020. Drake revealed then on his Instagram Story that he had to postpone it. “I was planning to release my album this month but between surgery and rehab my energy has been dedicated to recovery,” he wrote in a post later picked up by Revolt. “I’m blessed to be back on my feet and feeling great and focused on the album, but CLB won’t be dropping in January.”

While fans can rest easily knowing the album is coming soon, they’re eagerly waiting for Drake to reveal the final release date.
