Bow Wow Responds to Orlando Brown’s Comments

Bow Wow recently responded to comments that actor Orlando Brown made about him in a recent online interview. Brown did an interview with comedian Funny Marco and made some comments about the last time he watched BET’s 106 & Park. In the interview, Brown states “The last time it was hot, when Lil Bow Wow was on there,” and added “I ain’t got a problem with Lil Bow Wow. Lil Bow Wow got some bomb ass pussy.” This is not the first time that Brown has said some rather odd things in an interview. Obviously, those comments are what confused people and enraged many fans to the point of flooding Bow Wow’s Twitter. The interview released on YouTube on Wednesday, July 13. You can watch the full interview below.

https://youtu.be/ktqNYjZ2Jc0

Fans wanted to know the reaction of the 35-year-old rapper, but Bow Wow said he was too busy to respond to such drama. Bow Wow is currently working on a television show, an upcoming tour, and being a dad. Though the rapper would not want to entertain the drama, he would release a tweet that said “Im filming my new tv show as we speak and preparing for a sold out show at the o2 arena for the millennium tour in London. Ima 35 yr old father i don’t play them type games.” Many fans are claiming that Brown is high, on drugs, under the influence of alcohol, or a combination of the three. Ultimately, it seems that Bow Wow is just hoping for the best for the actor.

Browns Comments to Bow Wow & More

Bow Wow is not the first person that Brown has made wild comments about. He previously made out-of-pocket comments about Nick Cannon as well. These recent comments come shortly after Brown’s announcement of newfound sobriety last fall. The actor enrolled in a six-month recovery program at Rise Church in Abilene, Texas. He deemed the experience life-changing.

NBA YoungBoy Lyrics Almost Used Against Him

Some of NBA YoungBoy’s lyrics from several songs were attempted to be used against him in his federal gun case. YoungBoy got arrested on March 22, 2021, after a short vehicle and foot pursuit. Police eventually caught up to him and found YoungBoy in a neighbor’s backyard. Since then Youngboy has been living under strict house arrest rules after being released on bond. The trial began in the Central District of California on Wednesday, July 13, and the rapper scored a victory. The Prosecution attempted to use song lyrics from Kentrell Gaulden, also known as NBA YoungBoy, against him in court.

Rolling Stone stated that lyrics from YoungBoy’s songs “Gunsmoke,” “Life Support” and “Lonely Child” were thrown out of the case. The prosecution attempted to use the lyrics to connect YoungBoy to an FN pistol reportedly found on him during his arrest. Luckily, YoungBoy’s legal team quickly jumped in and argued “Even if Mr. Gaulden is familiar with various models of guns and sings about them, it does not mean that he knew this particular gun was secreted on the passenger floor of the Maybach when police attempted to pull his car over and arrest him.” This is not the first time a rapper’s lyrics have been attempted to be used against them in court.

YoungBoy’s Case and The Connection to Censorship

Recently, we have seen a rise in court cases that attempted to use rap lyrics as evidence. The American Civil Liberties Union reported that courts admitted rap lyrics as evidence in 80% of cases from 2006 to 2013. Most people see rap as music and thus the lyrics as artistic expression. The Hip Hop community has taken these issues as an attempt to censor their voices. Many Hip Hop artists will say that Hip Hop is a lifestyle and not just a genre of music. Rappers like Meek Mill and many others added their signatures to the Rap Music on Trial Bill. The bill is designed to prevent rap lyrics from being used as hard evidence in court.

Biden Signs Executive Order on Abortion Rights

On Friday, Jul 8, President Biden signed an executive order to protect access to reproductive health services. The news came after the supreme court overturned Roe v. Wade and effectively eliminated the constitutional right for women to get an abortion. The executive order protects access to medicated abortion, emergency contraception, and patient privacy.

The order also attempts to launch public education efforts on abortion issues. It will include improved security and legal options for those seeking and providing abortion services. The order will also require the secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), Xavier Becerra, to update Biden on the actions Becerra is taking. The HHS will take steps to expand access to emergency contraception and long-acting reversible contraception like IUDs. The attorney general and White House counsel are meeting with private pro bono attorneys for the obvious legal challenges ahead.

The White House Response to Executive Order

The White House released a statement.

“President Biden has made it clear that the only way to secure woman’s right to choose is for Congress to restore the protections of Roe as federal law. Until then, he has done everything in his power to defend reproductive rights and protect access to safe and legal abortion.”

Ultimately, there is no single action that the president can take to restore the nationwide right to abortion fully. President Biden himself has acknowledged this fact. Biden has also called on the American people to vote for new congress members this November. The president’s statement declares that Congress needs members who support federal legislation protecting abortion rights. However, the White House also clarified that the president does not support the expansion of the Supreme Court. However, many progressives want this change to happen. Another progressive idea that the White House dismissed was the idea of using federal land for abortion sites.

Crypro Owners Banned From Working on Crypto Policies

The US Government is now banning employees who own cryptocurrency from working on Federal crypto regulations. This comes at a time when there is a bit of a crypto crisis happening in some areas. The new legal advisory notice from the US Office of Government of Ethics (OGE) released on July, 5. The OGE stated the de minimis exception to be universally unacceptable when it comes to cryptocurrencies and stablecoins. The exception allowed owners of securities who hold an amount under a certain threshold to work on products related to that security. The notice stated, “As a result, an employee who holds any amount of cryptocurrency or stablecoin may not participate in a particular matter if the employee knows that particular matter could have a direct and predictable effect on the value of their cryptocurrencies or stablecoins.”

Basically, government officials who privately own cryptocurrencies can no longer work on regulations that could affect their digital assets. An employee who owns $100 in a stablecoin cannot participate in work related to its regulations. This new ruling is universal to all government employees including The White House and The Department of the Treasury. There is one exception that the OGE mentioned in their advisory. Policymakers can have up to 50,000 in mutual funds that invest broadly in companies that would benefit from crypto technology. The exception is allowed because the OGE sees them as “diversified funds.”

Crypto in the United States

The United States continues to move forward with integrating the cryptocurrency industry into its official financial system. Despite this ruling that some government employees may view it as a little harsh. According to Raymond Shu, co-founder, and CEO of Cabital, the United States could be the only western country to fully regulate and accept stablecoins and other digital assets. This is because of several legislative proposals that have been coming up lately.

FBI Raids Home of Mass Shooter Suspect Robert Crimo

On Monday, July 4, several FBI agents exited an armored vehicle and raided the home of Robert Crimo. The raid happened around 4:30 p.m. in Highwood, Illinois in a house where Crimo lives with his family. TMZ obtained footage of the raid where you can see just how many agents were outside the suspect’s home.

The video shows the raid team slowly walking up to the front and side entrances of the house, guns drawn. One agent shouts “It’s the FBI. If you’re inside, come out with your hands up,” and bangs on the door. The cops identified Robert Crimo as a “person of interest” in the mass shooting that occurred on Monday, July 4. The second team of agents walked along the side of the house with their guns pointed at the windows. Finally, the agents entered the home from an unlocked door and found a high-powered rifle.

Witnesses of the raid said that the agents stayed for several hours and took photos. It is unclear if the raid ended in any arrest or the discovery of crucial evidence besides the rifle that was found. While the agents were at Crimo’s house, the suspect’s father drove up to the home and began speaking with the agents. The suspect’s father tried to call his son but was unable to and left a voicemail telling Crimo the FBI was looking for him.

Details on Crimo’s Suspected Crime

If the 22-year-old is indeed the gunman then he is responsible for the shooting that occurred during a fourth of July Parade. The parade took place in Highland Park but turned deadly when a shooter opened fire on people from a rooftop. As a result of the shooting seven people died and more than two dozen suffered serious wounds. The ages of the victims ranged from 8 to 85.

A$AP Rocky’s Arrest Nearly Caused a Trade War

Former President Donald Trump’s demands for A$AP Rocky’s release in Sweden three years ago nearly started an international trade war. Sweden’s Justice Minister, Morgan Johansson, recently revealed that Trump threatened to impose trade restrictions if Rocky was not released. The Justice Minister said that Trump used traditional bullying tactics. He also stated, “If you can try and do something like this against Sweden, what will you then try and do to slightly weaker countries that don’t have the European Union behind them?” This comes as a shock to many who did not think the issue was that serious.

The arrest gained a lot of attention and took the internet by storm. People online had a mixed reaction. Some were against A$AP while others rallied behind him. Fellow rapper Kanye West was one of many who rallied behind the New York rapper.

Kanye displayed his support for A$AP Rocky by stating

“I watched the tapes of A$AP Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly. #FreeRocky.”

After hearing about it from Kanye, Trump got involved. Just like Kanye, former President Trump took to Twitter. The former Presidents involvement may have not helped Rocky though. In other words, according to A$AP Rocky Trump’s involvement “Made it a little worse.”

How it All Started For A$AP Rocky

A$AP Rocky, also known as Rakim Mayers, was arrested three years ago on June 30, 2019, in Stockholm. It was reported that Mayers and his two bodyguards beat up a fan outside a fast-food restaurant. They kicked the 19-year-old man and even hit him with a bottle. The assault was caught on video and quickly spread online. In Addition, a video of Mayers trying to be a peacemaker before the violence started surfaced as well.

As a result, Mayers spent close to a month being imprisoned. After a two-week trial, the rapper was found guilty of assault against the 19-year-old man. However, according to Mayers and company, the man was harassing them and shouting racial slurs. Luckily for Mayers, he did not go to prison.

Pete Rock Calls Out Diddy After 2022 BET Awards

The BET Awards brought many people joyous occasions, but it also brought some drama. Puff Daddy took home the Lifetime Achievement Award this past Sunday, Jun 16. Pete Rock felt disrespected when Diddy referred to Bobby Brown as the “first Chocolate Boy Wonder” during his acceptance speech.

Only hours after the BET Awards concluded, the legendary Hip-Hop producer took to Instagram to convey his frustrations. In the post, Rock calls out his fellow New Yorker, Diddy, for failing to credit him as the first Chocolate Boy Wonder.

Pete Rock’s Frustrations Surface

Pete Rock wrote a lengthy post expressing his frustrations about the whole situation. It seems that the Hip Hop producer felt highly insulted by the comments made by Diddy. His post stated, “my gift is from GOD the almighty mister puff smh i made those hits 4real. There is no comparison dude. I been here before you. Dont let em go in on you cuz its alot there.”

Though Diddy and Pete Rock are from Mount Vernon, NY, it seems that Rock feels it was him who really grew with the city. Rock cites things that Diddy did in the past that rubbed him the wrong way. Something like, “you brought biggie to the basement only to diss me later and not use me on any of his projects.”

Rock’s rise in the business came in the late 1980s and early ’90s. Most people know him for work with Common, Run-DMC, C.L. Smooth, and Heavy D. Both Diddy and Rock have proven that they made a stamp on Hip-Hop culture. Though Rock seems disrespected by not having the title of “first Chocolate Boy Wonder.”

Bill Cosby thinks R. Kelly Got ‘RailRoaded’ in Trial

Bill Cosby thinks that R. Kelly simply got dealt a bad hand with the guilty verdict in his federal sex crimes case. Cosby is blaming Gloria Allred and systemic racism for Kelly’s guilty verdict. Gloria Allred represented the alleged victims in both Cosby’s and Kelly’s cases. However, last year on September 27, 2021, Kelly was found guilty in New York. The charges included sexual exploitation of a child, bribery, racketeering, and sex trafficking involving five victims.

TMZ caught up with Andrew Wyatt, Bill Cosby’s spokesperson, at a Beverly Hills hotel last year on September 28, 2021, to hear what his client thought on the verdict. Wyatt told TMZ that Cosby thought that R. Kelly got “railroaded.” Systemic racism is the common thread throughout the interview that Wyatt had with TMZ. Citing how R. Kelly had to sit in jail while awaiting trial but Harvey Weinstein was out on bond. Additionally, Wyatt brought up how Allred has gone after prominent black men like Tiger Woods and Shaquille O’Neal. Wyatt also brought up cancel culture as a problem with society and a contributing factor.

Finally, Wyatt also did not think the singer would be sentenced because an appeals court would overturn the verdict. Just like they did for Bill Cosby.

The Difference in Bill Cosby’s & R. Kelly’s Trials

The difference between the two very high-profile cases is very simple. Cosby’s release from prison had nothing to do with his innocence or guilt. Instead, it happened because of the D.A. messed up a deal that Bill Cosby made to avoid prosecution. Kelly did not seem to have such a deal set in place for himself.

Meanwhile, as of June 29, 2022, R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty on all counts of racketeering and sexual assaults. The sentence came as a shock for many die-hard R.Kelly fans, but as a sigh of relief for his alleged victims.

Boosie Badazz Confronts Man at Hotel After He Was Seen Being Rude To a Woman

Boosie Badazz confronted a man outside a hotel and claimed the man was being disrespectful towards a female staff member. The rapper has never been one to hold his tongue and proved this once again when he got in the man’s face and began to shout loudly. Just so the man knew that the way he was talking to the female staff member upset the Louisiana native.

Boosie heard the man talking to a female staff member in an unpleasant tone and was not having it. In a video shot outside the hotel, though the exact location is unknown, Boosie jumps into action almost immediately. In the video, posted by Justin Whitehead, Boosie tells the man “You ain’t gonna talk to her like that. I will beat your azz!! You ain’t gonna talk to no women like that.”

As soon as Boosie Badazz is involved the air in the situation seems to shift drastically. The man who supposedly was being unpleasant towards the female staff member is suddenly quiet. The video shows Boosie surrounded by hotel employees trying to deescalate the situation. The woman who was supposedly being disrespected is also trying to calm the rapper down. People have pointed out the man in the black shirt, in the video, who seems to be stretching like getting ready for something to happen.

Thankfully the issue was resolved without anyone getting hurt, but as soon as the video popped up online, Boosie thought he should explain himself.

Boosie Badazz’s Explanation

“The reason I told that man that because he backed a woman down until she could do nothing,” Boosie said in a tweet. “He kept approaching her after she said sorry. Then he said no you go apologize to my wife too!! he was doing the most don’t let that video fool u.”

Boosie claims that the man kept pressing the woman even after she apologized, so he decided to step up. Read more stories on Boosie Badazz at FM Hip-Hop.

Young Thug Crowned ‘Coach of the Year’

Young Thug takes the title of ‘Coach of the Year’ by Spotify’s “most influential” HipHop playlist, RapCaviar. All of this while the rapper is currently incarcerated and fighting federal indictment. RapCaviar announced on Wednesday (June 22) the finalist of their third annual All-RapCaviar team.

An Instagram post featuring Young Thug’s own digital avatar, RapCaviar explained why they gave such an honor to the rapper. RapCaviar goes on to call the Atlanta native an icon and the catalyst behind many major artists.

“Young Thug is a musical icon,” wrote RapCaviar. “He founded Young Stoner Life Records, helped jumpstart the careers of artists like Gunna and Lil Baby, and has mentioned Atlanta rappers like Lil Keed and Lil Gotit. That’s why we’re naming him our 2022 #AllRapCaviar Coach of the Year.”

First-team selections included names like Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Kanye West, Jack Harlow, Gunna, Future, and Doja Cat, but despite heavy names, Young Thug won one of the highest honors when he was crowned Coach of the Year for 2022.

Bittersweet moment for Young Thug and others at YSL

Truly, this is an amazing accomplishment for the YSL label but comes at a very difficult time for many involved. Thugger, Gunna, and 26 of the crew’s associate heads are currently facing racketeering charges. Additionally, Young Thug himself is facing ‘Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization’ charges, better known as RICO charges. Also the unfortunate death of YSL rapper Lil Keed, who unexpectedly passed away due to health problems at the age of 24.

Despite this, the award highlights the work and dedication that Young Thug, his crew, and the YSL label have done. Work that helped make the “Slime Language 2” compilation debut at the No.1 on the Billboard 200. That compilation album also helped Gunna’s “DS4Ever” album beat out The Weekend for the top spot on the chart.
